### "Kisi: Simplifying Security at Business Park"

February 21, 2024

4.0

Kisi has significantly improved access control and security management. Its user-friendly interface and extensive features, like granular access control and real-time alerts, have streamlined our operations and provided valuable insights. While some advanced features could be further enhanced, Kisi has demonstrably increased our security posture and given us much-needed peace of mind.

Pros

Kisi's intuitive platform empowers us to manage access like a pro, ensuring our security posture remains strong.

Cons

While Kisi excels in core features, advanced investigation tools could be more robust.

### "Enjoying the system!"

January 23, 2024

5.0

It had been great, support tries to help the best they can although sometimes a phone call over email would be best. But they make sure to answer all questions and get you back up and running.

Pros

I love that I have Remote Access to be able to let people in my Gym from home when needed. The setup process for members is super easy as well and being able to navigate the system is user friendly.

Cons

It was a little difficult to setup at first and i already had a system it was replacing. I had to hire my security company to come change it for me. It decided to have a bug last week (less than 6 months old) where it needed a power reset. I had to get my security company back again to help me because I was not familiar with what wires to disconnect. Support is great though

Reason for choosing Kisi

It was integrated with my new Gym System GloFox. They set up the introduction and it was able to get it set up so the systems work seamlessly together.

### "Coworking spaces beware- Forced Billing Migration with No Transparency "

May 19, 2026

1.0

We have been a long-time Kisi customer operating a coworking and event space business, and our recent experience with the company has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing vendor experiences we have encountered in years. This was not simply a price increase. Kisi completely changed its business model while simultaneously removing the reseller/middleman support structure that many businesses relied on — and did so with extremely poor transparency and communication. For years, we worked through a third-party IT/security reseller who helped install, bill, support, and explain the Kisi ecosystem. Then Kisi removed that middle layer and pushed customers into direct billing while also changing the entire billing structure from door/location-based pricing to a per-user billing model. The issue is not that businesses should never pay more. We understand software evolves and pricing can change. The issue is HOW this was handled. At no point during this transition did Kisi properly explain: \* How “billable users” would actually be counted \* That suspended users could still count toward invoices \* That inactive synced users from integrations could inflate billing \* That users who never even installed or used Kisi could become billable \* How coworking businesses with automated member syncing were expected to realistically operate under this system If Kisi had transparently explained this from the beginning, we would have immediately cleaned up our integrations and inactive accounts before being billed. Instead, we were left completely in the dark while invoices skyrocketed. Most frustrating of all, the billed numbers did not remotely reflect actual usage. We were effectively billed for nearly 6–7 times our real active usage. As a coworking space, we naturally have thousands of temporary, expired, archived, trial, and synced accounts passing through our system over time through integrations. The overwhelming majority of these users never actively used Kisi. Many never downloaded the app, never accessed a door, and many were already suspended or inactive inside Kisi itself. Yet somehow they still became part of the billing count. That is where the frustration comes from. This entire migration felt extremely careless toward existing business customers and showed a major disregard for operational realities and basic business ethics. Customer service throughout this process has also been incredibly disappointing: \* Minimal accountability \* Slow escalations \* Very little willingness to acknowledge the confusion caused by the migration \* Little empathy toward long-time customers suddenly receiving dramatically inflated invoices After researching further, we also found many other reviews describing almost identical experiences following Kisi’s new billing changes: This is clearly not an isolated incident. The unfortunate part is that the hardware and technology itself can work well. But good hardware does not excuse poor communication, weak customer support, or aggressive billing practices that leave customers feeling blindsided. If you are a coworking space, gym, membership-based business, or shared office operator considering Kisi, I strongly encourage you to carefully read recent reviews and do your research. Because based on our experience, the actual invoices may look very different from what you expect and they can change the pricing completely at any point. Unfortunately, we can no longer confidently recommend Kisi to other businesses. There are many alternative access-control providers available, and I would strongly encourage businesses to explore other options before committing to a company that appears to prioritize aggressive account expansion over transparency, customer trust, and ethical business practices.

Pros

1\. Can be accessed with mobile (yet this is very common feature with other companies) 2.Integrates with Nexudus

Cons

1\. Lack of transparency — after 5 years as a customer, we were forcibly migrated to a new per-user billing model with no explanation of how users are counted. The only communication we received was a vague email saying 'update your payment information.' We were billed for 800+ users including suspended accounts flagged inactive within Kisi's own system and auto-synced users who never once physically accessed our space. After investigating ourselves, we discovered Kisi counts every user regardless of status —even those that were automatically marked as "suspended users by kisi". Reading other reviews, this appears to be a recurring theme across multiple operators. 2.Lack of customer service — one single representative handles all inquiries including billing, support, and disputes. Their listed phone number is non-functional. When we explicitly requested a phone call via email to resolve a significant billing dispute, they refused and stated they only communicate via email. For a company managing physical access control for businesses, this is completely unacceptable. 3.Hardware reliability — 2 of our devices broke with minimal use.

### "Stay Away From Kisi "

January 9, 2026

1.0

I had a horrible experience with Kisi. We used Kisi for 3 years. It was installed and paid for through a contractor. That contractor missed a payment to Kisi (we paid the contractor in full and on time) which caused our subscription to be canceled. I reached out to Kisi directly to resolve the issue and they informed me that the plan I was on no longer exists and if I want to get my subscription active again, I'd need to be in one of the new tiers which START at 4 times more than we have been paying for years (for the same functionality, mind you). When explaining the situation to Kisi, how we paid for the year on time and any missed payments on Kisi's end we're between their own contractor and Kisi, not us the customer. They did not look out for their customer at all. I got the cold shoulder from Kisi. Obviously I'm not going to get price-gouged by some low level tech company, so we ripped the Kisi system out and replaced it with a much more feature-rich access control system that is 100% subscription free. Our new reader is beautiful and has facial recognition, per-user pin options, NFC, and mobile NFC. It has a screen and camera so we were also able to replace our smart doorbell with our beautiful new Ubiqiuti system. We're now able to display our logo on our reader as well.

Pros

It mostly does what it says it will do. For the most part, I don't have to think too much about it. But that's not saying much.

Cons

It's a very bare bones system. Stripped down and cloud-hosted for no other reason (for most organizations) than to charge an exorbitant amount for a subscription (for a DOOR LOCK). The hardware is low quality. The nfc is very finicky so if you plan on that being your main access method, maybe look into another system.

Hi Steve, Thanks for your detailed feedback — we’re sorry to hear about the cold weather issues you’ve experienced and completely understand how frustrating that must be for both you and your members. Our documentation outlines performance  below freezing temperatures. While many installations in colder climates work reliably with weather-resistant adjustments (like heated enclosures or alternative mounting), we recognize that this isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. However users can still unlock the door via in-app unlock. Regarding Exercise.com — we continue to work closely with their team to ensure a robust integration, and we’d be happy to revisit your setup to see if improvements can be made. If you're open to reconnecting, our support team would love to help troubleshoot or explore alternatives that better suit your climate and use case. — The Kisi Team

Hi Jason, We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback. The recent changes you mentioned are part of our transition to Kisi Fit, a platform specifically built to better support the unique needs of fitness facilities — including dedicated features, integrations, and support resources. While this came with updated pricing, we aimed to communicate the changes in advance and are always open to discussing individual account concerns. ### "Kisi Review"

November 22, 2023

1.0

Pros

This field is not applicable to my situation

Cons

The controller is always going offline, and my clients arent getting 24/7 access. As a solution, Kisi says i need to buy an extra device for over $700. They also said it was my internet connection, but i had a tech come and they said my internet connection was fine and that it was the kisi device.

Response from KISI

November 23, 2023

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand how crucial consistent access is for you and your clients. Our team has thoroughly reviewed your case and found that while the controller remains powered, it is experiencing intermittent WAN connections. This issue can be monitored through the hardware analytics in your web app. To ensure reliable access even during internet downtimes, we recommend installing a Kisi reader with offline caching. This is a proactive measure to maintain uninterrupted service. Additionally, while your internet may generally be stable, the nature of WAN connections can vary. A more robust router could provide a more consistent connection to the Kisi controller. We are committed to finding a cost-effective and efficient solution for you. You can expect your Kisi rep contacting you for further assistance and to discuss alternative solutions that may better suit your needs.

### "Great system, terrible support"

August 4, 2025

3.0

It's super cool - and on a good day, I love it! But the overall experience is so painful, the risk that our security will simply not work - and we'll have no support for days, terrifying. Gutted that we're so invested now it would be very expensive to replace.

Pros

It's a clever system - combining both card access with smart phone and online access. Powerful group management and integration with systems including OfficeRnD should make it a great product.

Cons

Support and customer services is terrible. Having paid about £50,000 on hardware and having security issues affecting users last weeks, we've ended up paying thousands more for "enterprise support" with a dedicated phone number... It can still take over a week to resolve the simplest of issues, the dedicated phone number doesn't exist and everything is hard work.

### "Ok if you don't mind an unexpected 300% price increase!"

May 16, 2025

1.0

For the annual price we WERE paying, it was fine. Then in March of this year, out of nowhere and with no warning, we noticed monthly charges to our card (we have an annual agreement) and the price increased by 300%!!!! No notice. No explanation. No options. Pretty sure that's not legal. Nice job, Kisi.

Pros

When it works, it's great. Loved the idea of integration with our gym management software.

Cons

Glitches a lot. No real reason. It never did fully integrate with our gym management system, which is why we got it in the first place. Customer service didn't help.

Response from KISI

Hi Jodi, We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you sharing this feedback. Regarding the pricing change — we communicated the transition to Kisi Fit to all affected gym customers ahead of time, and updated pricing has been publicly available since the launch. That said, we understand how frustrating unexpected charges can be and are happy to review your account in detail if something seems off. As for the integration, many gyms are actively using it without issue, so we’d really like to better understand the challenges you faced and help troubleshoot. ### "Kisi is a shady business"

July 24, 2025

1.0

I wouldn’t use them again. Shady business and in this day and age where businesses can just be unreachable is awful. I’d go with a different system, it had plenty of flaws.

Pros

I only purchased this system for the hands free feature as I am inside a medical building and I often have my hands more than full.

Cons

The fact that they raised my yearly cost by 4x what the first year cost & when I tried to contact them with my frustration no one has ever responded

### "Centralized access control???? Oh and I would give customer support 6 starts out of 5 if it'd let me"

February 6, 2020

5.0

Our company was looking for a way to control global access. Previously we had security companies do individual install and had to have someone at each location control access and issue cards for entry. We needed a way we could show that when someone left the org or was terminated we immediately disabled access, without hoping the person at the location was paying attention to delete access.

Pros

Kisi is the best way in the business to control access for multiple locations from one easy administrative portal. The app is easy to use and the hardware complements it perfectly. Our users love how easy it is to get in and out security teams love how easily it is to enable and disable access.

Cons

The features that I WISH Kisi had is actually already on their roadmap! I want SAML 2.0. They have it on the way. I want enhanced administrative levels of control, they already have that on the way!

### "Works as advertised"

February 7, 2020

5.0

Kisi has eliminated the need to hand out physical keys at our cowork space. It is a great, reliable solution.

Pros

The admin panel is easy to use and simple to manage users and schedule door unlocks.

Cons

No real cons to speak of. If power or Internet goes out, the system does not work, but this would be the case for any Internet enabled keyless door access system.

Reason for choosing Kisi

We need a commercial solution with multi user management. Kisi fits the bill nicely.

Response from KISI

January 18, 2023

Thank you for the kind words! We're happy to share that we do offer offline support. Should your space lose access to the internet, Kisi supports two fallback mechanisms for unlocking doors or elevators: Offline cache on the reader: with offline caching for credentials, Kisi allows users to unlock doors even without internet connectivity. Offline cache on the phone: with mobile data enabled on your phone, the Kisi reader will receive a certificate from your phone through Bluetooth or NFC to unlock the door.

### "Perfect solution for remote door control"

February 6, 2020

5.0

Pros

Our company is unique in a way where our receptionists are all remote workers. They use video conferencing to meet and greet our visitors. Kisi allows them to control the office doors from the comfort of their home offices.

Cons

When we first purchased the service, we were one of the first companies to implement the solution. The initial setup at the beginning was cumbersome, but I'm sure it has improved since then.

Reason for choosing Kisi

Brivo did not come up with their solution until after we've been using Kisi.

I work out of an agency in Brooklyn, NY and use a KISI key to access the office even when the office manager isn't there. It's great to be able to show up early and know that I won't be locked out. ### "A really effective system run by individuals lacking honour (to gym business owners, at least)"

November 21, 2022

1.0

I recently purchased a new set of doorlocks to get things ready for my third outlet, spending over US$2000 to get the items. Within 2 weeks of receiving the items and having paid for the subscription, I receive an email from the \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] - stating that we will be automatically “migrated to a per user billing starting 1st Dec” (14 days notice).I have a very clearly defined customer contract that has been pre-paid for 1 year up until 1st November 2023. This includes number of integrations, number of users to support, etc. This is also very clearly described on the website. For my package, I have purchased 3 integrations (locations) and support of a database of up to 10,000 users.A day before my forced backend cleanse, I had ~1,700 users on my database - not even 20% of my allocated amount with only 70 users actually automatically syncing with our Glofox integrations. With the forced change in pricing, without doing anything my bill would increase to nearly $2000 per MONTH - this represents nearly a 50x cost increase per MONTH.The \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] has stated that gyms with over 500 members will be subject to this changed rate - 5% of the existing agreement I have in place. This is bad business and is showcasing a lack of transparency in their capabilities. The only ‘recommendation’ by the \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] is to limit my user count to 500 people... So, he is basically suggesting that a consumer business should not sell to new consumers and remain stagnant? Poor show.

Pros

We have been using KISI as our preferred access control manager due to their integration with Glofox - our gym management software provider - all the way from their first iteration of reader to their present day upgraded devices. We utilise their hardware across multiple locations, and the backend is effective at real-time tracking new users. The integration took us a long time to setup effectively, but once its up and running, the uploading and removal of new user data is seamless.

Cons

Their backend processes seem quite manual. In order to assign the relevant hardware to the relevant locations, it requires additional steps of contacting support to do so. The real issue is in their company's "Hardware" - refer to my overall experience to serve as a warning to all gym owners, and likely to all. They have implemented a force change in pricing to a per user per month charge without honouring existing locked-in contracts. There is no updated contract shared with me, nor do the terms and conditions on their agreements state that they can change our existing contract pricing. Just be warned!

Hi Marc, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review and we apologize for the disruption this caused. It sounds like you were not the intended recipient of this change as you had purchased an annual license with a renewal date late into 2023 nor was it intended to increase your monthly cost by 50x. We've been proactively reaching out to our customers who would have been impacted by this and we hope this has already been resolved for you. If not, please contact our team at support@getkisi.com and ask to speak with Sunny Fong and reference this review. Kind Regards,

### "Kisi is the best!"

June 22, 2022

5.0

I absolutely love Kisi and recommend it to all of my customers. It's the best access control product I have integrated.

Pros

I love everything about this product! It's super intuitive and extremely easy to teach customer's how to use. Programming takes less than 5 minutes for most applications. The system always seems to work flawlessly and the readers and hardware are aesthetically pleasing. The Kisi tech support team is extremely responsive and helpful, and the sales people and management of Kisi are also fantastic!

Cons

They currently do not have a long range reader available. This has limited sales in some instances, but they are making a new panel with a Wiegand port which will fix this in the future, it will allow for 3rd party long range readers to be integrated into their product.

Reason for choosing Kisi

I do not wish to name any other products , but I will say when compared to many other products on the market, I choose Kisi because of it's simplicity and ease of use.

### "A Seamless Experience for Elegant Security"

January 31, 2020

5.0

Pros

The Kisi Keyless Door Access system has been a success in our office space. I had heard about Kisi's reputation for quality products and outstanding customer care - after our initial consultation and conversation, I was sold. From purchase to install to everyday use, we've been extremely satisfied with Kisi. To remain HIPAA compliant, it is paramount that we have a locked office door at all times. Other locks or ID systems are bulky and archaic. Kisi has created a sleek, pseudo-sexy model that is beautifully enigmatic in our entryway. We especially love the RFID capabilities and that our phones can be our access keys! No more losing expensive key cards or fumbling with outrageous FOBS. Our pockets are weighed down enough! We had one glitchy day in the system, and Kisi was super-responsive in handling the blackout. I was impressed with how they communicated with me and their efforts in getting us back online within a few moments. Overall, I highly recommend using this product and working with Kisi. They have been and continue to be a pleasure to work with!

Cons

The only downside to the Kisi hardware is that the actual hardware options are fairly limited. We have a new space that requires an in-door mounted security system - something Kisi doesn't offer (yet!).

### "Seamless. Easy to Setup and reliable!"

December 21, 2021

5.0

We've been recommending Kisi to our clients for years. It wasn't until we moved into our own office that we decided to utilize it internally. We were previously in a co-working space. Kisi has always been easy to use and manage. As an Admin in our Kisi instance, I'm able to easily add users, create groups and set custom policies depending on the employee.

Pros

I consider myself the least technical person on our team. When we moved into our new office, we already knew we wanted to leverage Kisi. I was tasked with setting up the hardware in our office. It was pretty easy and the Kisi app and their excellent documentation walks you through the entire process. Once it's setup, the mobile app makes it really easy to get access into your space. You can even set up physical 'badges' to access the space. This is great for contractors or external staff who need access to your space but don't necessarily want or need to use the Kisi app.

Cons

Rarely, the door reader won't always pick up my device to unlock the door. If you have an iPhone, putting your device to Kisi's reader will automatically trigger ApplePay. Given, this is a device 'feature' as opposed to an issue with Kisi but it's something to keep in mind. Luckily, you can always open the app and manually press the button to open the door if need be.
