### "Great software, poor customer service"

December 18, 2018

5.0

It’s a great software, initially had issues and were not very responsive but since then has been quite smooth and overall satisfied- and I’m hard to please. Unhappy only with mostly provider service when ongoing issues and cannot speak to live person. And lack of follow through on options such as online booking they had explicitly stated upon signing up. Overall cost justifies the ease of use and time saved for physician.

Pros

Ease of use, easily accessible Pt info on one screen, few bugs/glitches, user friendly- very good compared to multiple other EHR I’ve used

Cons

Have to pay for billing software in addition to elation fee, ZERO discount for mid level prescribing practitioners, Absolutely no way to co tact them except via email re: issues which is very frustrating and have maybe 1 times out of 10 actually gotten back to me within their designated timeframe to rectify an issue/problem. When signed up 4/2017 salesman told me would be rolling out online booking for established patients over the summer. 12/17 still haven’t heard anything about offering that option

### "Loving it overall"

December 20, 2024

5.0

Overall my experience has been great and my worries are based on other people's social media posts about Elation. If I weren't a social media user, none of these concerns would occur to me and I'd be happy each day with my EMR choice.

Pros

I left a practice which was using a clumsy and poorly-related EMR that seemed to be stuck in the 1990s. I chose Elation for my new practice, and every day it delights me. What I like most is that it is modern and able to do things one would expect to be able to do based on the technological advances of today. There are so many common sense functions that Elation can do that my previous EMR couldn't do.

Cons

I worry about the customer support, because I have heard that it is seriously lacking in this product. Happily, nothing so far has gone significantly wrong for me to have to get help; every question I have had has been answerable through Elation websites and online forums or Elation Facebook groups. I do also worry about the cost; it is affordable to me now, but I worry that the company will take advantage of me in the future and that the cost will rise exponentially when it would be harder to switch. I've seen social media posts where people complain that the price gets jacked up unexpectedly with time.

Reason for choosing Elation

I heard that Atlas did not have a good portal for communication with patients so I ruled that out early. I had a demonstration with Cerbo but I didn't like it visually. The demonstration of Elation was better -- the layout was more in tune with how my brain organizes a chart.

### "Poor support, terrible customer Service"

January 28, 2026

1.0

POOR support. No follow-up, no response to support emails I sent 17 days ago. I still have not even received an acknowledgement or response. It appears they are very understaffed based on response times

Pros

Ease of use-but that only helps when it works! It is very sluggish once your practice grows. Sometimes taking 20-30 seconds to load a pt chart

Cons

TERRIBLE customer service, no follow-up, no response to support emails. It appears they are very understaffed based on response timed and I am very concerned they are going out of business. So i would be very cautious about starting with them at this juncture

### "Disappointing start"

March 15, 2025

2.0

So far, not a good start. I’m only using this because it is the established EMR for my clinic.

Pros

The workflows seem pretty efficient when I’ve seen it used and written mock notes.

Cons

I’m over two weeks into my new job, and can’t schedule a single patient in until they complete mapping with our scheduling software. With my practice model, no patients = no income, despite a rapidly growing list of patients wishing to sign up. Our office manager has been emailing daily, and gets generic messages saying they’re “working on it”. Getting an estimated wait time has been like pulling teeth. I emailed them directly, asking for a rough estimate of wait time, and to better explain why there are delays. No response after 3 days. Also, the training videos are quick, soundless videos of someone clicking through charts, with no further detail. Also, I’m paying for this, but unable to use it.

### "Terrible experience and getting worse"

November 7, 2024

1.0

Difficult- regret using them, I did not expect them to remove the very features that I required in an EMR and very clearly communicated to them at onset

Pros

When I joined they had great auto text reminders for appts and a great option to hire a part time employee

Cons

Choosing Elation for my business has resulted in significant and immeasurable losses in both time and money. I had stringent criteria when selecting an EMR, and Elation met those needs initially. However, once I was fully integrated and reliant on their system, they removed key functionality that had been a dealbreaker in my decision to use their software. Their proposed solution was for me to hire additional staff to handle the added workload this change created—a costly and inefficient resolution. When I found an alternative software solution that could bridge the gap, Elation would only permit integration if I first paid for software development time (a reasonable request I was willing to meet), but on top of that, they demanded an additional $500 per month, per provider, indefinitely. This meant I had to pay a substantial ongoing fee just to mitigate a problem Elation itself caused by removing critical features that were in place when I signed up. On top of that, Elation has redefined what it means to be a part-time provider, further increasing my costs. Originally, the part-time rate applied to providers seeing patients for fewer than 10 hours per week, a condition I verified before subscribing. Without notice, Elation changed this definition to any provider logging into the system more than three days a week will be charged as a full time provider. This means I will be forced to pay full time access for my provider, who only sees patients for 2 to 5 hours per week, I cannot disallow her from simple tasks like checking her schedule or reviewing lab results. This is a completely unreasonable and arbitrary shift. Customer service has become practically non-existent, leaving us with little support or recourse. Overall, partnering with Elation has proven to be an enormous mistake, leading to substantial operational and financial setbacks.

### "frustrating disappointment"

July 15, 2025

1.0

This was the biggest mistake I have made as a business owner. Customer service is non existent and a complete joke

Pros

It felt easy and intuitive and the price felt nice. This was a too good to be true situation. Bait and switch. Look elsewhere.

Cons

clunky, repetitive, inconsistent, customer service is by email only, patients HATE the portal, messaging is all over the place. Onboarding was a nightmare.

### "THEN AND NOW"

March 12, 2025

2.0

I was initially thrilled, but now I am unhappy and looking for a different EMR.

Pros

Elation used to have excellent support, helpful staff who responded rapidly, and no hidden fees. I've been with them for ten years. Now that they have gained accolades, increased their notoriety, and added features, they have added costs for everything and increased their base fee, and the support staff is less than helpful.

Cons

If you live on the East Coast, you still cannot integrate with many systems, as they are a California-based company.

### "DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WIHT ELATION HEALTH!"

February 8, 2025

1.0

Not as advertised, terrible customer service, zero integrity. They appear to be legitimate but they will take your money and run.

Pros

I liked working with \[sensitive content hidden\] during onboarding. Every other part of my experience has been terrible.

Cons

DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS POS COMPANY!!! I could not be more regrettable having given Elation Health my time and money. Elation Health has no interest in serving their customers with any type of integrity. I paid $9,264 in advance for 12 months for three providers to get $50 off per month per provider and save some money for my clinic. Sounded like a great deal with all that the system could do...except it doesn't. You have to also add on their integration partners at an additional charge. I shared the concerns below and many others with the Elation team. I requested a refund for the 11 months that we will not be using Elation. Response from manager \[sensitive content hidden\] : "Thank you for your response and for sharing your perspective. I understand your points and appreciate the time you’ve taken to explain them. However, after careful consideration, I want to clarify that our position remains unchanged. We are committed to upholding the terms and conditions outlined in the contract as it stands." One of my providers couldn't get her token working and the other provider was onboarding in 2 months. Neither of those providers even used the system for patient care. I spent weeks learning the Elation system through a testing portal and tens of hours going through the learning tools and training videos to try to understand how our clinic systems would be impacted. I felt really good about it at first. We prepped our team and patients for the change in EMR. When we finally went live we realized that we are unable to collect money for services the day that they are delivered, sell products, manage inventory, prescribe in house medication or simply print patient labels. When requesting help with these issues it took over 24 hours for a response. There is no phone number to call for help when it is impacting patient care. Email responses were canned and condescending. (I can see how it might be frustrating that you are unable to collect payment for services rendered. Can you please tell me more about how this impacts the user experience? or Regarding the label printing request outside of the lab workflow—this is a common feature request. Could you please share more about what you’re using labels for?) In the end, we attempted to use this platform for TWO DAYS before we gave up, knowing that we would be both bleeding and chasing revenues if we remained with Elation. Take my word for it, there are FAR better options out there.

### "Elation EHR - The premier EHR for direct primary care practices"

May 6, 2022

5.0

It has been a pleasure to use ElationHealth. I don't have as much input into its features as I did with smaller companies' products, but it is a mature product and is the best one for direct primary care charting in regards to ease of use and GUI and logical layout.

Pros

Elation integrates (connects) fairly well with Hint Health, Spruce and MDScripts and Quest Labs. It is quite intuitive. E-prescribing is the best feature by far and most used. Charting makes sense. Reverse chronological chart notes imitate paper charts most closely. Patient summary panel is very helpful. Patient engagement software for relaying lab results is intuitive.

Cons

The patient engagement portion (called Passport) is fair, but needs to catch up with the rest of the software.

Reason for choosing Elation

Cloud based with good integrations and excellent GUI and medication prescribing features

I would like to use the platform but customer support is pathetic and no live interaction.

Pros

I very much liked the platform and ease of use right up until I had to deal with customer support regarding a matter moving practice. It has been pathetic since with only generic responses, no availability of live interaction even with people with whom I previously - recently - had live interaction.

### "Very good and reasonably priced EMR"

October 27, 2022

5.0

Excellent. The implementation was easy and the migration of the charts from our old EMR was excellent. We use it daily and is very reliable. I love that is web-based. We do not have to run backups and the records are always safe and accesible.

Pros

Easy to use, very complete. Always reliable. Very few times have got interruption of service.

Cons

I wish sending records could be easier. It is not possible to fax records larger than 20 pages.

### "Easy to learn and a joy to use - Highly recommend ElationEMR"

May 9, 2016

5.0

Pros

Very intuitive and easy to learn and use. Our practice has been using Elation EMR for that past 5 years and has been very satisfied with it. Implementation was fast and easy with excellent support. I trained my staff with a 7 min screen capture video and they were up and running. Doctors went in without any advanced training. I suggested they see 2 patients per half day with Elation on their first day and the rest still with paper charts. Most of them came back and said, "It was so easy, I just saw all my patient in Elation." Support has been excellent throughout. As the company has grown, support has been a little less immediate and personal than it was in the early years but remains prompt and excellent. I think we've only had a couple of downtimes in the past 5 years and never lasting more than 10 minutes. It does lack some features found in more established systems. These include no health maintenance tracking or reminders and no ability to template recurrent tasks. Nevertheless, it is a powerful system and a joy to use. I highly recommend Elation EMR for a small to medium sized practice looking for an easy-to-learn, easy-to-use system.

Cons

Development of new features has slowed as they've expanded. It seems the burdens of meaningful use and other mandates has interfered with evolving new features as quickly as I was hoping to see them.

Pros

Ease of use for patient records w template notes, well organized. Set was easy. Cost ok. Interface well with our labs/pharmacies. No issues with prescribing We like the patient portal: we only opened for outgoing messages.

Cons

Customer service is non existent They do not answer calls or emails (in fact they do not have any voice mail set up) They recommended Practice Suites as a billing partner ("we love them, great partner, will meet all your billing needs") and it totally destroyed my revenue cycle. promised us an OB flow sheet when we signed up...3 years ago. ### "Elation "

August 13, 2019

4.0

Great

Pros

easy to use! I appreciate the faxing feature, ability to integrate with labs/hospitals for lab orders and imaging, responsive customer service and fluidity in uploading documents

Cons

The reports never change nor is there an option to add a new report. I am constantly filing Dermatology reports under Misc because Derm doesn't exist! I can think of several other specialties that I have to list as misc which makes it difficult to find. I'm not impressed by the fact that I am unable to amend or edit any of the added lab values when trending. It can be quite frustrating to have to re-trend an entire report because RBC reads 55.2 rather than 5.52 ..erg!! Finally, it would be awesome if there was a texting/emailing feature to contact patients from elation. AND finally, the patient portal - patients are unable to access labs/imaging themselves. We would like to option to allow patients access to those reports rather then send them individually.

### "Nearly a year in and I am still loving this product. So much."

September 5, 2015

5.0

Pros

Things I love about ElationEMR: - My favorite part is that the writing area expands as I type, so I can see/edit the entire note incredibly easily. - Only one tab is needed for the whole note. - It saves every keystroke, so if for some reason the connection is lost, I haven't lost a thing. - ePrescribing is smooth and fast. - Unbelievably great and friendly customer service. - It is totally intuitive to use. Overall: The product works so smoothly, templates are a breeze to create, the entire system is intuitive, easy to learn and super easy to use, they are constantly adding improvements to an already fantastic product, and their customer service is a dream. Seriously. I once had an issue (that ended up being on my end) on a Sunday afternoon and sent a request for a call back the next day - I got a call back 20 min after I submitted the request. On a Sunday! I love this product; it makes my life so much easier.

Cons

It is so great that when I talk about it, I sound like I'm a salesperson for their company.

Pros

Nothing-This product was not able to perform the functions for a Specialty Clinic.

Cons

Be careful when you sign up for this product. I had a list of questions of what I needed in an EHR Software and was lied by the Implementation Team. The templates in the system are not customizable. They will try to tell you there is a way of creating Templates but it is impossible to create a unique note like an Operative Note. Other simple functions are not included in the system like creating Quick Texts or Private Messaging to Office Staff.

### "Primary care warhorse loves his EMR- who ever thought it could happen?"

May 11, 2016

5.0

Pros

Your willingness to help small practices transfer their data from their current software nightmare to Elation - you're the best at this. Data transfer is by far the most anxiety provoking and painful parts of buying an EMR and most companies assume that you are on the hook for life no matter how painful it is to use their software. This company is pure disruption of an aging and underperforming industry - something we have needed for decades. It is time someone built an EMR for health care, not just for billing. You have done this and continue to improve your product. I have enormous respect for what you have done and continue to do.

Cons

Still no recall system and no lab interface with Quest or LabCorps. I know it's coming. I know that when these are done they will be done in Elation fashion and work effortlessly, but I hope you can do these soon.
