Pros: - Insane that its FREE!

- amazingly simple to build a native app fro both iOS and Android

- great to code only in Javascript

- apps build are super fast

- has basically all the functionality you will need in any app

- Hyperloop is a game changer, being able to use native code and call the native functions via Javascript is amazing

Cons: - very large codebase and can be intimidating to get in to it

- open source and not very large staff to bug fixes can take a take a while to get resolved

- developer community stays small as most people give up and move to other tools before really digging in

Overall: As a single developer Appclerator makes building and maintaining a very large app on both Android and iOS possible, without it there is no way I would have been able to maintain two code bases.

Pros: This IDE is a great piece of software if you're developing a mobile-first solution. It is built on the backbone of Eclipse, so is solid in it's functionality. What I really loved about this is that it offered a lot of UI options that were not available in similar products at the time, especially in the toolbox area.

Cons: I'm not sure how much the Eclipse framework on it's own weighs, but they added a lot on top of it. While they do offer a lot of extra functionality, most of what you need, it comes at a cost of performance. I had frequent crashes, then after one particular update, the system just wouldn't start. I gave up and switch back to Zend studio.

Pros: The concept is very good, democratize app development. reusable templates and a marketplace to sell your creations.

Cons: Hard to use for those with limited tech knowledge and the forums are not very helpful to NOOBS. Need more video tutorials.

Overall: Never completed an app all the way to the app store.
