### "is a tool for developers and administrators in environments where software applications are running."

April 23, 2018

5.0

Docker has a very flexible workflow in which I work with in environments as well as mobile applications to web pages, it works as a virtual machine to emulate and simulate its functionalities.

Pros

Docker has facilitated the use of files for the development of application projects, with it I was allowed to take and run my applications in a test environment, its utility consists of a container of executable files from the same software.

Cons

Although not directly to the Docker, I have had some difficulties with file sharing functionality. It is a little difficult to configure user permissions for mounted folders.

### "Running containerized applications and workloads makes scaling easy"

August 3, 2019

5.0

Pros

We run our platform in as docker containers deployed in several different clouds providers with different strategies. This is only possible with containerization, and scaling up and down to respond quickly to variable demand is (almost) effortless.

Cons

It is easy to set up a suboptimal container. This is on the user, but you really need to be thorough and remove extra cruft when designing your Dockerfile.

### "It is one of the best tools in the development and execution of projects for applications."

May 6, 2018

5.0

I do not need a virtual machine for the development of my mobile applications and adaptable for web pages.

Pros

It facilitates the files of applications, since it can work through an executable environment of your applications, where you can also save your projects and modify them in real time.

Cons

It is a little difficult to work with mounted folders since you need to grant and create permissions to be able to manage and edit it.

Great tool for development and deployment of applications.

Pros

It simplify the preparation of environment for your application. At work we use Docker a lot to make sure we have a stable CI/CD process.

Cons

Sometimes the cache does not work correctly. Another problem we often run into is communication between containers. Also running local dev environment may be complicated with NAT, firewall config.

### "The best platform for managing pods and images"

February 22, 2023

5.0

The fastest, most dependable approach to build apps is with Docker, the industry leader in containerization. It aids teams in prototype solutions much more quickly. Teams, environments, and even platforms and apps from various vendors can all share and ship containers. It works well for both stateless and microservice-based application development. Monoliths or state-critical applications are less suitable, although they can still be created if the right architecture is created and "support systems" are made available.

Pros

Generating an image for the project will aid in deployment and ensure a consistent environment across all systems.

Cons

With new CPU architectures, container networking is difficult and requires privileged access incompatible for a while.

### "Docker Review"

October 29, 2019

4.0

Overall, it is a great tool for containerizing the application which avoid the unnecessary time spends for the deployment of application across the environment.

Pros

Docker is certainly a important tool for Containerized application and Devops Process. It is very simple and easy to use for moving the application from environment to other environment(i.e like copy and pasting) Creating docker image is very simple and services specifically micro services can be scaled which in turn improves the performance. Docker container is operated with simple batch commands and can write easily for promoting the containers. Docker eliminates the server configuration, cluster configuration with simple commands which eventually reduce the deployment process.

Cons

Mostly docker storage happens on LINUX Box which essentially requires the background knowledge on the Linux Commands. Documentation has to be improved certainly to help beginners.

### "Docker - Dockerise the Modern Applications "

December 9, 2022

5.0

my overall experience has been very productive till date.

Pros

What i like most about Docker is it is very lightweight in size and helps in packaging all the dependencies along with the developer code and also helps in solving the legacy developer operations team problems of it does not work on my machine.

Cons

what i like the least is docker is about to support kubernetes as a container runtime leaving the community dull who enjoyed the awesome features and capabilities it had for kubernetes workloads.

### "Docker (and Kubernetes) changes everything"

July 23, 2019

5.0

Pros

I have been developing software and managing software development for almost three decades. For years our teams have dream of what we used to call "Just Enough Operating System". Docker brought this to live. Docker helps you package software code in containers which can be moved around from machine to machine easily. Docker also now support Windows containers. If you are interested in Docker then also look at Kubernetes.

Cons

Docker is currently built into Kubernetes but there is a lot of push-back from the open source community due to the commercial nature of the Docker holding company. I do not see this as negative but it is something to consider.

### "Must Have"

May 22, 2023

4.0

Pros

I used Docker to set up an EMQX MQTT broker for a project I was working on. My final review is that Docker is a useful user-friendly software that allows you to easily create containers with specific environments for specific tools. Before Docker developing apps may lead to different bugs in different environments because of compatibility issues. With Docker that problem is gone. Docker (and containerization in general) will very soon become the base knowledge that every developer must know. There are only a couple of commands or concepts you need to be familiar with in order to solve most problems. To create containers, most codes are already online at specific websites, so you only have to copy and past them.

Cons

Be aware Docker images are heavy and they will slow down your computer.

### "There is a DockerHub image for almost all of your needs"

May 7, 2019

5.0

Pros

Docker has a great community on DockerHub. There is a docker image for almost all of your needs. You can quickly setup an orchestration by searching for your required images on DockerHub

Cons

Docker has a steep learning curve. Adding orchestration to it add another layer of complexity in learning. Once you have crossed that point, its really helpful.

I've started to play with docker in 2016 and i 've to say it's perfect to standardize and disrtibute developers environments.

Pros

Docker CE on win10 is amazing! You could start complex developer environments in seconds, and you could easly standardize it. HW performance using docker in Hyper-v environment are also excellent.

Cons

I honestly could not see a cons on this soluton

### "Best way to start a new project which need to be deployed "

July 31, 2018

4.0

Debugging the production is no longer required when you know what you develop on is the same platform where it would be in production.

Pros

Working on your computer with a different operating system then the production has always been a nightmare for developers and system administrator. Then comes docker, it changed everything. It made creating new project from the ground up really simple, with the system admin configuring a containers for developers and later on to be deployed to product. Continuous integrations has made releasing product frequently possible too.

Cons

It goes into different version, and searching for solution online for your particular problem can be daunting. Building a new container from the ground up when you made mistake could take long and requires tons of internet data. Being a programmer, it is also a learning curve to learn it at first.

### "goodbye virtual machines welcome containers"

September 7, 2020

5.0

\* Before docker, we have to provide the Virtual machine and also make the configurations on the virtual machine but after Docker we do not have to setup those configurations as give the container and make it work .

Pros

\* A container based application which eases to make deployment and execution of your program. You do not have to say customer download those and make those configuration at those files. just give the container and he will have the all the application with the working environment in it . I guess it's one of the best invention at this century.

Cons

\* PErsistent data storage is not simple at it's described \* Unfortunately not all the applications support containers \* It does not work with well if your application have lots of graphical features

Docker is best software for building containers and work with Amazon ECS/ECR.

Pros

Docker containers will run on single operating system, thus they are lightweight and portable. Building a desired container is very easy with couple of commands. They are really works well with Amazon ECR/ECS. Major Cloud platforms supports Docker containers.

Cons

Functionality wise I really don't have any negatives, But I observed when docker software is running on my windows box, system performance will degrade.

### "Indispensible tool in the world of DevOps and System Administration."

March 7, 2019

5.0

Docker has made managing services in a networked environment even easier to maintain. It has also become essential to streamlining many stages of a continuous delivery pipeline for developing software. I can't imagine working without it.

Pros

Docker is extremely useful and easy to use for building and deploying services in a networked environment. They took a technology that's been around for years and developed a deployment and tooling system for containers that make them a no brainer to use.

Cons

If I have to mention one con is that Docker tends to make you buy into their whole ecosystem of tools almost. This can sometimes be a detriment if you find certain technologies that might not mesh well. However, they have made strides modularizing the tools.

### "Friendly containers for friendly developers"

April 16, 2021

5.0

Great, there is a fanatical community and everything is well documented

Pros

Docker Hub repository is amazing and has about any thinkable image available to quick start your project. Also Docker pretty much created the container standard used everywhere which simplifies deployment to anywhere.

Cons

There is a small learning curve and as with most software and tools it is not really a one size fits all solution so you will need to be critical on the tradeoffs (like performance and cost)
