### "Clean, modern interface with scalable analytics"

August 19, 2025

5.0

We centralized data control, made ELT easier, and provided stakeholders with trusted dashboards. Query performance improved, and teams make quicker decisions, strong day-to-day value following best practices being established.

Pros

Snowflake speeds up data analysis and collaboration with almost instantaneous scaling, open dashboards, and easy data sharing. The interface is clean, and role-based access ensures sensitive datasets are protected while teams query without tripping over one another.

Cons

There is ramp-up in cost controls, roles, and warehouses areas. Customer support is instructed but can be behind on more in-depth performance or billing matters, so close governance and monitoring are crucial in the early stages.

### "Versatile tool"

April 16, 2025

5.0

Definitely a great tool for any enterprise company. It really upgrades your data analytics capabilities.

Pros

It is very versatile and can connect to pretty much any application. It is also very powerful for data science needs.

Cons

Snowflake requires a knowledgeable IT team to setup and maintain. End users must rely on the IT team and communicate requirements to the IT team for specific projects.

### "The incredible power of a cloud data platform"

March 29, 2022

5.0

We use Snowflake to aggregate hundreds and hundreds of disparate databases across many different clouds and platforms into one single data warehouse allowing us, for the first time, to give customers visibility of all their data across all our products.

Pros

The concept of Snowflake is so clever - mass amounts of micro-partitions of data, with the storage and compute separated. It is a smart product that enables so much functionality and capability. It is more than simply a database in the cloud, it is truly a feature-rich platform that offers a huge amount of functionality. I also very much like that role-based access is a fundamental part of it. Its data sharing features are terrific too.

Cons

Some things are a little tricky to figure out, like row-level policies the first time you do it, or data masking. There are no triggers. Scheduled tasks are a little limited. Stored procedures are not as simple as I'd like.

### "Snowflake - Next generation cloud warehouse"

January 15, 2022

5.0

Best cloud data warehouse platform at the moment. Love, everything Snowflake has to offer. Easy to build pipelines, data sharing from production to non-prod in seconds, 0-copy cloning in 0-seconds :), amazing time travel, robust security, near real-time data ingestions, flexible compute power, and all possible compliance and certifications we can expect (Hippa/PCI/sox etc) indeed "built for the cloud"

Pros

Snowflake is easy to onboard and adopt, implement, easy to use.

Cons

Limited monitoring capability and data analytics features.

### "My take on Snowflake"

February 13, 2023

4.0

It perfectly bridges the gap between a Data Warehouse and a Data Lake being highly available, good for scaling up or down as per needs automatically to provide the best performance and optimization for your queries. Can store and give access to huge volumes of data which can be necessary for future decision making.

Pros

Using Snowflake has been a great experience; I appreciate how easy it is to view, analyse, and produce reports that are helpful for the organization's business. Its cloud nature, eliminates the need to install software and does not affect how our machines work at all during analysis, is another feature I thoroughly appreciate. I adore how it offers many modernised SQL capabilities as well as practical tools for protecting data which can be sensitive in nature.

Cons

The capability to launch numerous queries is absent. The searches occasionally take longer than usual, and with no estimated time as to how long it takes is agonising. There could be a history tab for instance to see all the previous queries written or executed so it can be easy to refer and take part of the previous query instead of writing it again from scratch. There is no straightforward way to convert the SQL queries to Snowflake.

### "Best Data Warehouse in the Market"

March 3, 2023

4.0

Overall for us Snowflake platform is highly scalable and secure. It includes a number of advanced features and functionalities that help businesses store, process, and analyze large amounts of data in real time. The advantages for our organization include its ease of use, fast query processing, and robust security features. Lately we have used for snowflakes to migrate from our legacy systems as this platform was faster and easier and also integration with other tools was also very efficient.

Pros

For us Snowflakes has been critical to process and store the data day in and day out. Integration with various data sources and tools, including ETL/ELT tools, BI tools, and data science platforms has been critical for our organization and the teams. Snowflake's ability to handle large amounts of data and process it quickly is impressive. The platform is adaptable and provides us with numerous options for data management. Snowflake's distinct architecture enables us to easily manage and process data. The user interface is simple, and the platform is dependable.

Cons

Lately the new user interface is not comfortable and is confusing. The older user interface was much more easier. At times query performance issues are observed and timeout happens. Also cost per query is concern and expensive. Cost should be priced reasonable.

### "Snowflake has been a game changer"

November 23, 2021

5.0

Snowflake has been a game changer for us. It has enable all kinds of new architectures due to it's fast and low-cost performance. It has eliminated the need for so many maintenance tasks that used to be such a hassle.

Pros

Snowflake is super fast, requires virtually no maintenance (no logs, indexes, tuning, etc.) and the pay per use price model scales perfectly with cyclical workloads which are common in data warehouse applications.

Cons

It does not natively support any real constraints such as uniqueness or referential integrity which requires the user to explicitly check all these things via stored procedures. The SQL worksheet GUI still has remove to improve but they have been rapidly enhancing it. It's not too uncommon to have brief outages but they are usually resolved within a few hours.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Snowflake

The performance of Synapse was not nearly as good and it is essentially just SQL server running on the cloud so you still have all the annoyance of indexes, etc. to have to think about. Also the pricing model doesn't scale as well.

### "A fantastic data warehouse solution that solved all our problems"

May 5, 2022

5.0

I have an amazing experience using Snowflake. It is better than out previous Data Warehouse solution in everything I can think of (besides pricing). We are very satisfied with, and I feel very confident on having it as the backend of all our data needs. It is also important to notice that we had a very pleasent experience with Snowflake's sales and account managers: they were very helpful and not pushy at all.

Pros

Snowflake is exteremely stable and easy to setup. I was able to turn it on and have a reliable Data Warehouse that didn't require me having a lot of cloud knowledge to administrate. The database administration through the UI is intuitive and the Roles dynamic helps with implementing good data governance and compliance pratics inside the company. Snowflake also offers user security options out of the box, which was a huge improvement for us. The doccumentation is very well written and SnowSQL offest a lot of useful functions. The main improvement on this front was how Snowflake treats JSON, which helped us a lot.

Cons

If your revenue is not on US dollars, Snowflake is an expensive product, there is no way around that. It is indeed a very good service that charges accordingly. We are using the smallest cluster possible and it was necessary to do some convincing inside the company to approve it for our budget. That being said, the smallest cluster we are using is more than enough for our needs and will be for a long time, so it will take a long time for this cost to increase again, but it was a pretty big budget increase initially.

Switched from

[Amazon Redshift](https://www.capterra.com/p/227349/Amazon-Redshift/)

Amazon Redshift was very difficult to manage as a non-AWS expert. It also lacked a lot of administration and security features we needed. And even if it was cheaper at first, I kney we would run into pricing problems as we scaled, and we think these will be more manageable on Snowflake.

### "Great Cloud-Based Relational Database"

January 13, 2022

5.0

Pros

The convenience of a single data lake that can be sectioned off in any way needed paired with a pricing model that encourages a high volume of data storage and ease of use make Snowflake an enjoyable tool to navigate. They've developed a solid community for knowledge sharing and have experienced, competent staff.

Cons

It can take a minute to remember which admin account needs to be used for performing specific actions. Sometimes pressure may be felt to save multiple queries and run them close together rather than sporadically to minimize computation costs, although after the first minute these are billed by the second and the pressure lessens.

Snowflake rated with higher ease of use for the end user and the pricing plan and capacity made the most sense for a small to mid-sized operation looking to continue growing.

### "Great Database Storehouse"

June 9, 2022

4.0

It is a great data warehouse that allows you to create different tables very quickly. It has been great to use even if there are some quirks with it.

Pros

It is able to hold and process extremely large amounts of data in a timely manner. It also allows you to organize the data and limit access which roles have access to which data.

Cons

There are two features that could use improvement. First is the inability to move tabs with different code around. This makes it impossible to organize tabs that go along with certain projects which is frustrating. It also saves every tab you ever created even when you delete the tab. While I understand this can be helpful if you accidently delete something, it would be nice to have the option to delete the cached tabs if I wanted to.

I'm using snowflake since 6 months and my overall experience with it very good. It brings itself to the need of the market that I like the most.

Pros

Cons

### "Transformed our Data Warehousing Process"

January 15, 2024

5.0

Snowflake has been wonderful. It completely transformed our operations when we migrated from SQL Server to Snowflake. It's so much faster, cheaper, and easier to maintain.

Pros

Easy maintenance, fast performance, low cost usage-based pricing model, and easy data sharing.

Cons

It can be cumbersome to administer multiple Snowflake accounts within the same company if needed. It's most cost effective for large, bulk type query transactions not thousands of small queries spread throughout the day.

### "Friendly Cloud Data Warehousing"

April 11, 2023

5.0

Very good and reliable tool. I am very satisfied.

Pros

Snowflake is easy to use and clear. Maybe the hardest part is to set up Roles and Policies. Overall, I think it is the easiest data warehousing in the market and works very well.

Cons

It is kind of expensive and sometimes I feel I am getting "over billed". With this I mean that some operations take extra computing time that is not really needed or there are hidden costs difficult to track. To know how much money are you spending is difficult and overall I feel like Snowflake does not want you to track billing that much.

### "Snowflake - Best Cloud database you could get to build data warehouse"

February 17, 2023

5.0

I would give my over all rating for this product as 10 on 10 . Coming from ORACLE background I really liked this product . You could avoid the entire database management tasks since its been taken care by the snowflake itself.

Pros

The I/O operation within the database are handled well . Repeated same query results are being cached to avoid I/O operations, which is great!

Cons

The Task functionality can have a separate UI to manage the scheduled tasks . The Web workbook could have been improved with more features.

### "Snowflake, Unique just like Us"

October 31, 2019

5.0

My overall experience with Snowflake has been a pleasurable one. Though there have been some frustrations at times I have learned and overcome and become a better programmer, and SQL developer for it. I feel like Snowflake is an old friend now.

Pros

The thing that I like most about this software is really if you can think it you can do it with Snowflake. I mean as long as it deals with data. I first started at my company using oracle and I didn't stick with that for long because we adopted snowflake. When we started using snowflake my knowledge of SQL just jumped sky high. Instead of just selecting from tables, I was using cte's and partitions and all of that fun stuff. Snowflake made it super easy to understand and learn. The ability it has to handle the amount of columns that it does is amazing.

Cons

There is a little bit of a learning curve to get the hang of it. But on the surface it is just like any other sql language and you just have to figure out the different quirks that it has. I wish it could give data instantaneously and read my mind on what I want but that is pretty much impossible so I'm going to stick with what I have.

Switched from

[Oracle Database](https://www.capterra.com/p/5938/Oracle-Database/)

I made the switch because of the fact that my company was switching and I had to adapt or I was going to be left out in the cold.

### "Cloud based database and warehousing improves performance and reduces cost"

December 19, 2020

5.0

its a great experience, our API's have become faster in response time, we stoped worrying about storage size and computation power , now its scalable and decoupled

Pros

This is a fully managed cloud data-warehousing solution , or database as a service, the advantage of this with the traditional server based database is the performance boost, here the warehouse or the computing power and data storage is fully decoupled, this means , you can pay for what you need, your warehouse can be in sleep when its not in use so you save money, you can modify the size of warehouse so you get your performance as you want, and it supports the advance queries like 'copy' into local files and s3 etc .., coming to the operations, the snowflake has query history well maintained with importance performance metrics , and they have a good support team who responds quick, they have a web workbench which stores our query on different tabs with different configurations, they have role based authentication for each elements on database, they have good documentations and community for an help regarding the queries etc..

Cons

we use to have some outages in the past, which was resolved quick, now a days i don't see those that's a good thing, if you are trying to migrate from a psql to snowflake then some query syntaxes will be different

March 23, 2020

its quite a good experience, and performance is not a issue anymore

Pros

The computation power and storage capacity in decoupled (pay for what you want) it provides a good query history and query analysis feature, and also query metadata help's us in understanding the performance issues if any the support team responds quick and good, they have a good web UI workbench to work on and it auto stores our work, the provide a snowflake outage dashboard which can show the down time of snowflake if any

Cons

some syntax's are different from psql, could have been the same so that the migrations wold have been easier the web UI workbench is bit slow in initial page load time, some times we face some issues not frequently , but the support team tries to resolve it immediately, and the support team notifies us if there are any known outages that are about to happen

### "Superior Cloud Warehousing Capability"

October 25, 2022

5.0

Snowflake allows us easier access to our data and integration partners are abundant

Pros

Snowflake is an industry leader and has ample connectors to all data sources. They integrate flawlessly with our BI platform and allow for management by a 3rd party. Compute power is FAST and easily scalable.

Cons

Snowflake, like most, has its own dialect for SQL - not necessarily a bad thing but something to adjust to. There is no data cap, so data usage can get expensive.
