Overall I am super happy with MyMusicStaff. It is not an expensive tool to use and does everything I wanted it to do and a lot more.

Pros

There are a lot of things I love about MyMusicStaff but the one thing that is the best is the ability to automatically bill families in the beginning of the month. It is the greatest thing. I used to do it by remembering myself or the families and I would always feel like I am undercharging or overcharging. But this way I know that it is exactly right. It is so easy to set it and forget it and see that money coming in every month.

Cons

Sometimes it seems like the software is a little glitchy. Sometimes it charges twice and you have to do some tricks to get the amount that the family owes you to be correct. When the software works, it really works well but then when it does not it is kind of a pain to get it to be correct.

I've been a customer for a number of years and it pays for itself. Great product and great team. I look forward to the future upgrades.

Pros

The team is very responsive to customer inquiry, they continue to improve with more updates, the updates are relevant to teacher experience, the format is very user friendly and intuitive, the billing system is simple, and I love the website integration.

Cons

I have 2 accounts and manually transfer calendar info. I convinced a studio I'm contracted with to use MMS as well. This caused 2 accounts with my MMS account. I log out/in depending on whether I use my personal studio or my contracted studio. This is a good integration, but I wish there was some way of better managing the 2 accounts for one user. I have to keep both calendars updated because one is synced to my phone and the other belongs to the studio. I'd rather just use one calendar for both, but that would impact the invoicing system as well as the student accounts.

MMS was more directly relatable for music teachers. The others were good for appointments, but I had to make too many adjustments for private lessons. It was also the best product for solo teachers or small studios.

At first it was great when my business was in its infancy but as I grow and need more from my tools it's become clear that MMS simply cannot deliver without a ton of manual work also.

Pros

Has many good basic features that improve efficiency for invoicing, payroll, the registration widget is decent. Overall, it was a good tool for a while.

Cons

Beyond the bare bones, anything I try to achieve with MMS is not possible. Want to integrate with other tools? Can't do it... no open APIs and functions through Zapier are so limited. Want to get data to help make informed decisions? Can't do that either. The reports are so limited and require hours of work on spreadsheets using formulas and pivot tables in order to import into a better system. This data is of course all static because you can't feed it properly to create dynamic data. Want to allow customers to book their own lessons through your website? The booking widget is so limited and can't be customized to meet your needs. AVOID AT ALL COSTS if you want a software that you can scale and grow with. Lately every function I try to achieve is not possible with MMS. To say I'm frustrated and disappointed is an understatement.

I recommend MMS to all of my music teacher friends. It's the best platform I've ever used. I tried some other platforms, just to see what was out there, but came back to MMS for the value, the ease, and the efficiency of use.

Pros

I've been using My Music Staff since 2018. The platform is incredibly user-friendly. Customer Service is EXCELLENT. They are always adding in new features and upgrading the system to better suit us as teachers.

Cons

Sometimes I have issues with the Forms section. I've found some workarounds that get me to what I need.

Cons

I switched because at the time the web builder was not very modern (this has since been updated). Also, I could not have students auto-reschedule in 15min increments. Otherwise, I really liked it.

My experience with My Music Staff has been positive—it really helps me stay organized. I plan to continue using it for the long term, and I appreciate that the developers are attentive to their customers' needs. Pros

Overall, the platform is intuitive and focuses on the needs of the student and instructor - It's clear that My Music Staff was created by music instructors, which is great. Additionally, it is very cost effective.

Cons

I wish the process for verifying and setting up bank accounts for auto payments was more streamlined. Also, having sample document templates for student intake and onboarding would be a great addition. Lastly, while the messaging feature is helpful, it would be even stronger if students and instructors could communicate directly within the platform instead of relying on email.

I really love it and I have already recommended it to other music teachers. Anything that can save me laborious time typing up invoices in Word is fantastic.

Pros

It has saved me time and energy. I love the fact that it can hassle my clients who are slow to pay. Tech support is good about replying.

Cons

There’s not much to dislike. If the designers could make an app that I could download to my phone, that would be fantastic rather than going from the web.

It's an excellent product and I'm glad to be using it. It's really helped me to feel like I have my business under control where in the past its felt chaotic. Being more organized has helped me to take on more students.

Pros

It simplifies everything - sign up process, scheduling, lesson reminders, email and text blasts, billing, lesson notes. And it makes me look more professional in the process.

Cons

There was a bit of a learning curve, but the free zoom call orientation was helpful. Currently - I'm switching over to sending lesson notes via my music staff (I used to do it in email threads). I don't like how students need to log in to view my attachments, it would be better if they could just simply download them from the email they are sent. Also, the repertoire and online resources sections to me feel like they should be combined into one thing. I don't find the repertoire section very useful, because all of the repertoire I want to assign comes with a PDF I've made. I'd love to be able to "assign repertoire" and that actually just links them to my PDF

My Music Staff has saved me so much time and mental energy! It has truly saved my life and given me the time and energy to be a better teacher and more well-rounded teacher. I now manage a studio of 40 private students with minimal admin time.

Pros

Has saved me a ton of time with auto-invoicing and automated reminders for lessons and payments!

Cons

There is little that I dislike about it. It would possibly be nice to have an app for my phone, but the website works just fine on my phone. It could be nice to have a link to share with families when you are getting started with the site with an informational video or instructions.

Going from manual billing and entry with receipt books to My Music Staff was great - it saved me a lot of time. Once I switched to group lessons, it fell short on the UX.

Pros

Billing. I didn't have to chase down checks, cash them, keep track of records, and do all the filing.

Cons

Didn't work well for group lessons with our structure for unlimited make up lessons. It was clunky at best, and I had to spend a bunch of time helping parents navigate how to do a make up lesson.

My overall experience with MMS has been excellent. It is absolutely essentially to running and maintaining my music school, and has taken away a lot of the stress of scheduling lessons.

Pros

The best part of the system, and by far the most used for us is the scheduling. Not only does in make keeping track of our lessons very simple and straightforward, we can very quickly make changes, and even provide our teachers with access so they can stay on top of their schedules. In addition, being able to synchronize the MMS calendars to Google Calendar or Apple Calendars means that I can see an updated schedule on my phone at any moment. I also love their automated payment system which has removed the need to chase down students/parents for tuition payments; everything goes through automatically at the end of the month and we can rely on a consistent stream of income to cover expense and make sure everyone is paid on time.

Cons

The only thing I don't like about MMS is the recent GUI change. I'd been using the earlier system for many years and have become quite comfortable with where everything was located. The GUI updated moved some features around which has been somewhat annoying - however I'm gradually getting used to the new layouts.

Insanely good. Best application/ website I have ever used hands down. Six Stars.

Where to start? I think the Number 1 reason I love MMS is because of its features. They have truly thought of everything a teacher would need to track schedule and communicate with their students. Anything I personally wanted to try or change in regards to my lessons that I teach was somehow already available for me to utilize. Its as if music teachers themselves designed it. Next is the ease of use. I have never experienced an online tool so simple and so intuitive. I learned the entire sites basic functions in a matter of days and within a week I was a pro using the advanced settings. Literally anytime I couldn't figure how something worked or anytime I had to troubleshoot any minor issue, I could resolve it within a matter of minutes by simply searching other areas of the site. Since the entire platform so seamlessly integrates one section to another, I.e contact information, billing, calendar events, etc... there is typically more than one way to solve any issue quickly. and if for some reason you cannot solve the issue on your own, MMS has an extensive FAQ list to guide you and incredibly responsive customer service team. I could go on as well about the cheap cost, personal customization options, and a plethora of other things but my main point is that if you own a music business, schedule reoccurring lessons on even a monthly basis you need to use this site period.

Cons

Nothing. Truly. I even expected a small learning curve and even that didn't happen as I was able to use this product efficiently from day one.

Overall I am happy with MMS, specially the invoicing and scheduling features. Customer support is top notch as well and this alone keeps me as a customer.

Pros

I have been using MMS since 2020 when my whole studio went online. Their customer support is fantastic and their team is always available to talk over the phone. Emails are responded to quickly and they always have a solution for my issues.My favorite feature is the auto-invoicing and auto-payment. The website has saved me countless hours of invoice logging, tracking down payments, and scheduling since I can automate everything.I schedule all my lessons through MMS and It's nice that my students can launch their Zoom lesson right from the portal.

Cons

I really want to make MMS my ultimate hub for my students to access all their materials and video lessons, as well as send me videos and track their practice. However, I think this is where MMS is really lacking. The last couple of updates have been great but the system still feels like it is stuck in the early 2000's. I'm fairly techy so I haven't had a problem figuring out how to navigate MMS, but students and parents who are not techy at all really struggle, so these features end up being neglected by them. I really struggle to get any of my studio members to use the practice log and send me videos of their practice because it's just not intuitive or easy to access. The Online Resources is an improvement, but even then the filing system is really clunky. I would love to especially see an update of how files are delivered to students. Right now you can email students to notify them that a video or file has been added to their Online Resources. However, when they click the file link in their email they are taken to their home page and not directly to the file I have shared with them.

I used to have 2 software plus Excel spreadsheets. Once I started working with My Music Staff, I moved everything to one place. It is easy to use and intuitive from a computer usage.

Pros

The support is amazing, quick and precise.

Cons

There is no online booking at the moment. Sometimes, people just want to book 1 lesson online without emails or phone calls. They don't have an App. You have to open a window in your phone, which makes it harder to read.

I love the fact that invoices are automatically generated from the attended appointments so I don’t have to spend any time thinking about it particularly. The staff has been so helpful! I'm able to call or email them, and they help me figure out the system. They are absolutely critical in figuring out how to set up an account that works for you.

Pros

It really helps me run my business. From collecting waitlist information, scheduling classes, collecting payments, and keeping track of business expenses for tax time, it has been easy to use and helps take a lot of the busy work of running a music school off my plate. I also really like the make-up credit option for my piano students.

Cons

It is confusing to start. The learning curve is steep. I also don't like that the website has to be encrypted onto my current website, because my current website is through Canva, which doesn't allow encryption.

I have been able to save time invoicing students automatically and I don't have to create each individual invoice. My students love the automatic reminders and it saves me time when students actually show up at the right time. I like how I can add information for each student and it keeps all the information in one space for me. I like that I can customize the registration form to ask the questions I want.

Pros

The best features are the automatic invoicing based on the calendar, the reminder texts and emails, the registration form and how I can put it on my website through Weebly, and the student management.

Cons

There is no way for two parents to each pay half of a bill for a student. I have worked around this by making a second "student" for the second parent to pay for. I also don't like how the invoices are specific enough and will just say "balance forward" instead of what the charge was. I wish I could customize the left sidebar to take out the features I don't use.

I definitely have been having a great experience with My Music Staff. Especially their actual staff members. I spoke with \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] recently and she did a phenomenal job at helping me fix my accounting issues and invoicing issues. She was very easy to talk to you she listened to my concerns and questions that I had and took time to teach me how to fix my accounting problems. I had several students accounts that had it inputs put in the wrong way for discounts etc. and she was able to quickly spot what the problems were as well as allow me the time to fix them and explain why not to do what I did before and how to properly and put the information I need to moving forward and why. I told her I think it would be nice if My Music Staff will give her a bonus to make videos on how to create invoices and teaching users how to utilize accounting and how all of the features work together to help balance out the accounting page and create invoices all of the ends and outs! She would be great at that as well!

Pros

It’s really kind of hard to pinpoint what specifically I like because there’s a lot of features that I do like such as being able to schedule, pull reports, upload videos for our students, upload link sent of the learning material for our students, payroll etc

Cons

I don’t like that I’m not able to use PayPal and stripe at the same time to except payments. I do have parents who like to pay through PayPal as well but I have to utilize a different source to receive those payments because only stripe or PayPal can be used one at a time. I wish that it was also a lot easier to understand how to utilize the invoice an account features. I have gotten pretty confused and had to call in and ask questions several times in order to really get the hang of it. It can be a bit confusing without that additional coaching to understand how to bill clients. I’ve had moments where my numbers were off because I gave an additional discount or I build them incorrectly and didn’t understand how I did it or why.

I love the fact that I can control my accounting invoices and payments through this program! Even though I have my own website I also love the fact that I have the option to create my own website to My Music Staff as well!

Online and phone support & the 1-on-1 live training are excellent.The HELP area is nice. Downloads are fun and informative.

Pros

Calendar, ease of website design, online resources, repertoire, expenses, etc. This is a great program. I never used the "old" version, but the online complaints just remind me of the 2009 Facebook crowd whining about the new versions thru the years. We don't throw sheep at each other anymore or play Mafia wars either. lol

Cons

Lesson Notes: Can't add jpg PLEASE! It looks like an email template, can't be like one?Repertoire: Can't just look at final design, have to go into Edit mode. Can't add jpg. OMG, PLEASE!FONTS and SIZING and PARAGRAPHs in lesson notes AND emails. OMG why are they all over the place? If I change my mind and ctrl-x and ctrl-v, all of a sudden, everything is wonky. I can start a blank lesson note and immediately change the font size to legible (instead of teeny). If I need to insert or edit whatever, bam, it's back to the teeny font size.

Some of the menu options do not fit on a desktop screen so I have to "scroll" to the right or left to "see" everything. I would prefer that all information is "viewable" on one screen.

I am far more capable of streamlining and implementing my studio policies with my music staff. Bookkeeping is so much more organized. I am proud to refer my music staff to my friends.

Pros

My very favorite part of my music staff is invoicing! And I love her students can manage their lesson cancellations in the calendar. My music staff has a small price to pay, but ultimately helps me manage my earnings and probably saves me money in the long run because it is much easier to keep track of cancellations and make up lessons. I also really like how I have opportunity to have a website. Another big favorite aspect of the program of mine is that students can register themselves into Recitals.

Cons

The concept of make up classes is sometimes hard to get across to students, but the functionality is fine! The phone app is a little hard to use, especially when trying to edit titles of news and blog posts. Sometimes it freezes. But this is a very minor part of my use of my music staff.

Pricing. I also prefer the name.

It's been just great. Everything I used to do using physical lesson notes and email and Dropbox I can do all with this program.

Pros

Everything that I mentioned about MMS being the best possible music lesson software out there on the previous page! The best things are it allows students to make payments via Stripe, and has a fantastic scheduling and lesson notes system.

Cons

Only thing I could say is that the formatting for lesson notes can be a little glitchy sometimes. Otherwise everything's perfect.
