Pros: Strong security. Data ownership model. Flexibility of collaboration and sharing options. Platform and vendor agnostic. Good administrative controls. Reasonably good reporting. Reasonably good APIs. Ease of use for end users. It's been great watching the creativity and innovation of the users. They've found ways to do things with Box we never imagined when we signed on.

Cons: The desktop sync is different than and technically inferior to that of Dropbox, the consumer tool most users are familiar with in this space. We anticipate this change when Box for Desktop is released in 2017. We'd also like to see the maximum file size increase. I'd like to see improvements in the administrative reporting. Many users have trouble getting their head around Box's waterfall permission model, particularly IT professionals. It's different than what they are used to. It ads an impediment to the retirement of NFS.

Overall: I run Box for over 100K users in a large university. Box is built for the enterprise. It has very solid security, good user management and an extremely small support footprint. There are consumer tools that might beat Box on some individual features, but cannot hold a candle to Box when held up to the needs and realities of a large enterprise. Box is platform and vendor agnostic. It has solid mobile apps and 3rd party integrations. The API is strong and improving all the time. Box can be the content layer for both internal and externally-facing applications.

We signed on to Box to bring our IP back in from consumer tools. It has largely accomplished that but it has additional surprising results. We've seen some very creative innovations in research collaboration, teaching and administration. The productivity gains have been far greater than expected.

Box is a bit of a paradigm shift for users. Those who never ventured into consumer cloud tools such as Dropbox need to learn about basic cloud concepts of where their data is backed up. IT professionals need to get their heads around Box's permission model as well as deal with the loss of direct user management and support. Having said that, the overall support footprint is startling low. We average 5 technical tickets a week on Box for over 100K users. Most of our support time is on training and consulting to help users get the most out of the tools Box provides.

The bottom line is that Box has proven to be very solid and flexible. Our users have really taken it and run with it.

Recommendations to other buyers: Box's data ownership model is one of the things that makes it stand apart from the rest. Before rolling out Box to your users make sure you have developed a plan for "non-personal"/departmental accounts. This lets the departments own the department's data rather than individual users. This makes staffing changes must smoother. This does NOT mean you administratively lock down individual users' accounts. We believe in encouraging our users to use Box as fully as possible so they become proficient in all its tools. This leads to the best ROI and the most creative innovations. Once your core team really learns the tool, send them (or you) out to individual departments to teach them tips and tricks, design their department's base folder structure, and brainstorm on creative uses of the tool. The effort will pay off tenfold.

Pros: Security is still my favorite feature - I have the confidence that our data is secure and will remain secure. Box meets a number of US based and international security regulations and data compliance requirements, Box makes governance and compliance easy.
Notifications based on file changes or folder changes have allowed us to create "instant workflows" to quickly move data from a variety of locations in the hands of a number of users. This has allowed us to create a system where data is not only securely stored, but able to be quickly acted upon by a geographically diverse group of staff.
Rolling Box seats out to new users is easy, and Box makes a wide variety of training materials available to its users to help them leverage the features.

Cons: There's not much to dislike - the feature set is good and continues to grow. If there is a downside, it is that - like all cloud based solutions - connectivity is required, and that can sometimes be a challenge for my organization is some of the remote international locations where we work.

Overall: I've been been a Box customer for about four years. During that time we've gone from a limited POC to a large scale international rollout. We've found Box to be very responsive both from a support standpoint and in terms of listening to their customers regarding features and needs.
The primary reason we initially chose Box was because of the outstanding security framework which was at the core of the initial offering and continues to be a key focus for Box. The management and governance features allowed us to roll it out to a geographically diverse group of employees with the assurance that their data would be secure and would remain secure.
Our initial need was to centrally replicate data from an international location. Based on the success of that POC, we've been able to replicate that success in a number of international locations and delay or eliminate the need for physical systems and storage that had previously been a part of our technology deployment.

Recommendations to other buyers: The cross platform functionality and integration with Office365 makes it an easy win that users will quickly begin to make use of once they begin to experience the features available from an always available collaborative storage solution. The more users you put on Box, the more useful it becomes as users begin to organically find ways to work collaboratively. Box also provides a well managed method for extending shares to external users as well, with the security and control that is consistent with the rest of their offerings.

Pros: My university decided to replace its archaic system of various collective departmental, college, and institution drives and servers with Box. It is a thousand times easier to access from a variety of locations, at almost any time, using almost any communicative medium you wish to employ. In the 21st century the modern mobile educational facility and educator lives and dies on the capacity to not just amass data and research and information but also to retrieve and manipulate it at remote locales in a secure, rapid way.

Cons: The biggest challenge is that Box has, like many modern softwares, engineered a number of plug ins. I have found that the reliability and functionality of these varies. for example, the general BoxSync application works perfectly but then there is a Box application for Windows 8 and another for Windows 10 which are "store apps" which are not as good at syncing and it is possible you might have both kinds of applications on your machine and that is rather confusing for the user since they have different interfaces and the syncing between them is not as transparent as one might expect. There is a page of these plugins and their descriptions overlap substantially and so it's not always clear which application you should employ in conjunction with your general Box.

Overall: All in all, Box has proven substantially beneficial for the university and for faculty to access materials of a general nature in a more efficient way and though I have not seen the actual numbers myself, I suspect that offloading all of the staff time and energy that went into maintaining and training people to monitored those previous on-campus servers was a price efficient move as well. Equally important in a time of fiscal belt-tightening.

Pros: I like the versatility for uploading and downloading files. Files can be uploaded by dragging them into the folder in a web browser. You can also allow them to be uploaded through email. When this is activated, a unique email address is created. Any attachments in emails sent to that address are uploaded to that folder. We use our reporting software to send reports to these folders. Within this folder, uniquely named documents can replace existing ones or be added in addition to the original.
Files can also be uploaded through synced folders. I use this to store all of my work documents. Any file in this folder is synced with the online folder.
The Box files can easily be accessed from any web browser or through the mobile app. Ours is placed behind our firewall. With the mobile app, you can also create offline versions of documents for easy access without internet access.
Downloading can be completed easily though the app or online. Individual files can be downloaded one at a time or en mass as a zip file.

Cons: I am pretty happy with this product. The only thing that I would prefer is the ability to download multiple files at once as separate files instead of being downloaded as a zip file.

Overall: With this product, I can securely save and store my documents. They can be accessed from anywhere. I can share them with colleagues and setup folders with access for multiple users.
Through our reporting software, I can easily email documents to Box folders to be uploaded.

Enabling mobility, collaboration, and delivering that securely.

Pros: The features I have found to be most helpful over other cloud storage platforms are:

1) Collaboration ¿ just not that it exists, but it is easy and user friendly. Allowing data that is necessary to be worked on to be brought to the surface

2) Security ¿ focus on compliance, encryption, enterprise grade management

3) 3rd Party Integrations ¿ allowing for Box to truly be a platform to be used with other software.

4) Mobile apps, very strong and easy to use

Cons: There are still some management features I would like to see improved, giving more control to IT. There is a good bit here, but could use a bit more.

Overall: There are many services if you are looking for a place to dump data. But what makes Box the best, are all the features that they layer on top of that. Collaboration, sync, edit, Office integration, great mobile apps, policies, preview, workflows, automations, and more.

At my company we have been able to leverage many of these features to meet specific needs of our end users that we would not have been able to easily meet with our existing resources or traditional platforms. We have been able to really leverage the platform to enable our users to gather data all over the world on almost any platform and then have staff anywhere else in the world act on that data. This has increased our response time tremendously over traditional platforms like email and FTP.

Box can really be a tool in your tool chest that can solve many problems.

Recommendations to other buyers: We are solving the need for quick, easy access to files across all timezones and continents. We've realized that instead of a process taking months, such as the verification of a file, it now takes a matters of days or in some cases just hours!

Comments: Box is the best of breed cloud system in the EFSS (Gartner) space. The natural progression from startup to unicorn company is: 1. Google Drive (max free space) but applications are worthless for Accountants, 2. OneDrive (comes with O365 but doesn't play well with others like NetSuite and SFDC) and need a SharePoint site managed/integrated to get real value 3. Dropbox (great customer features but doesn't play well with others and lacks unlimited storage) 4. Box --best of breed but not the cheapest

Pros: 1. Enterprise Edition with unlimited storage plan costs roughly $35/month. For a mature organization spending a large amount on servers/admins for those servers, this is very affordable. 2. Ability to model sharing between departments is priceless. Literally changes the way an organization behaves with information sharing if configured properly (silo killer). 3. Customer service is second to none. 4. Native integration with other cloud apps that charge additional fees for storage quotas. This includes NetSuite, SFDC and Workfront and many more. 5. MetaSearch on Enterprise allows granular searching. Every time someone has ever used a single word is indexed -- INSIDE the documents stored.

Cons: 1. More of a learning curve for users because of more features. 2. More robust administrative functionality also requires more learning. 3. Not the cheapest cloud solution out there - but you get what you pay for.

Recommendations to other buyers: Get the training and implementation packages when pricing an implementation. Getting it right is very important for setup/user adoption and Box does a great job with this.

Pros: Box is used by everybody in the company for a very easy to use file storage system. The company is 100+ employees in the construction industry. We store each project in its own specific folder with everything related in this. This makes my life easier by being able to pull up blueprints or files from any device I am on. I work out of 4 different locations and so local storage would not be possible for this.

Box is easily integrated onto your desktop for localized access on the computer. Anytime you make a change from your computer it will update the files in the cloud. We have over 20 people that access the files for the project and we are able to assign roles to anybody accessing the files. Some might be only able to open the files and other we can allow editing of the documents.

Share large files is as simple as right-clicking and copying a link for the file location. You do not need to go through the web portal in order to share folders or documents.

Box is probably one of the best enterprise level cloud storage solutions for a business.

Cons: I wish to allow the administrator to have a log of changes and able to temporarily access deleted files. I sometimes have people make mistakes or changes and it would be useful to see who moved a file or deleted a file. However, it does show you the last user to save a file just not a log of deleted documents. I have also had a worker delete important documents that we were not able to retrieve on an administrator level.

Box has been an amazing tool for us to use as a way to share files across teams and with partners.

Pros: The security structure is great and very flexible. You can create various structures for all sorts of use cases.

The integrations are also great. With so many partners from Microsoft to Google, we are able to create new ways to stitch our software together. Shoutout to HelloFax for being awesome!

Box Notes has been amazing as well. Everyone has users using GDocs, even if you're not officially using it in your organization. This has effectively replaced at least the Document component. We have a group of users that cannot get enough of Box Notes.

The new UI plus the training materials are great. Way better than most other competitors. As is the support. They are happy to help in any way possible. We've been recommending Box to other non-profits as a great solution to replacing the outdated File Server.

Cons: The inability to share individual documents to non-registered users for editing. This is probably the #1 driver for some of our users wanting to use GDrive or OneDrive.

Overall: We managed to get more information out to other staff members who were unable to access the old Physical File Server that was located in one specific office. The level of collaboration between teams and offices has increased immensely since the implementation. Our adoption rate and daily usage are some of the highest, compared to some of our other tools.

Pros: I'ved used Box, dropbox, OneDrive, and many other cloud based file storage systems for many years. Box is -- hands down -- the best application for three big reasons. The first is that Box has many built in features for SSO, management, archiving, search, and integrations that are very well suited to large scale enterprise implementations to replace client/server file systems. The second is that Box has amazing integrations (pre-built). Some of my favorites are email based notifications and submit (drop in) files via email. Not that I used them for email itself, but they are great to build automation with. The third is Box's API which is super easy to use.

Cons: The one thing I never liked about Box is that when a corp IT team includes someone to have read access (or other access) to a folder, it always shows up. Box should have user features that allow the user to hide content that is shared with with, but which they don't want or need to see. Clearly one of the huge problems of massive file collections is finding the right data. I think their search, sort, and filter technologies could really use a lot of help here.

Pros: The Box web app and the Box Sync/Box Edit software are intuitive and easy for the new user to pick up quickly. For more experienced users, workflows can be designed and used to increase the efficiency and decrease the problems associated with file servers and other file sharing services. The Box API provides those who are inclined to develop applications a standard, with well documented features and flexibility that securely allow access to content and metadata.

Cons: The desktop applications Box Sync and Box Edit occasionally are impacted by Windows policies (IE permissions generally), which is not the fault of Box, just something to keep in mind when deploying to users. The administrator GUI search function for files is indiscriminate and doesn't allow for more complex searching.

Overall: As an Enterprise account administrator for around 6k users, I'm continually impressed with the pace and quality of improvements as well as the huge feature set Box already has. Box provides much more than simple file sharing, it also allows for automation and integration with existing workflows, the creation of new and more efficient processes, and the replacement of several dissimilar products we were using.

Recommendations to other buyers: When deploying Box in an Enterprise, keep in mind that with the ease of use it brings, it will soon become the de facto standard, and all users will need access. The user adoption rate of the software will soon outpace your license count.

Pros: Security and Ease of use !! Every file you store with Box is encrypted using AES 256-bit encryption. In addition, the Box user interface makes it easy to share out and collaborate folders with specific permissions. You can easily see which collaborator (customer) has opened a specific file by running a report. Reliable file sharing....We have given all our field technicians access to a wealth of information that would normally have been emailed to them upon request and they are able to access Box directly from their tablets to access this info. This has streamlined our business and has made it easy for us to collaborate our reports with others. We have tried other file sharing sites and Box has worked perfectly for our needs.

Cons: I think the reporting on the back end needs to be improved. Other than that, we have no other complaints.

Overall: Since it's very easy to manage the files s stored on Box through their web interface, I am able to concentrate on other projects in the office. In addition, it has taken the burden off our email server as we no longer need to email large files and only send the link to those files or folders via email.

Pros: I love how simple this software is to use. I had to begin using it as a new employee having never seen it before. It only took a few days before I felt like an experienced user. We deal with healthcare patients, and privacy and security are our top priority. This sofware provides a safe networking environment where we can discuss patient information in a HIPPA compliant way. I use Box for everything, and I have never had it crash. The information I need to access is always available.
We frequently use the @ feature to signal when another person is mentioned in a task or comment, this allows for quick communication between departments that are sates away. The task feature allows you to set a "due date" which is extremely helpful when we are dealing with time sensitive issues.

Cons: Some of the document views are difficult to maneuver. For example, when there is a comment you wish to delete from a document, the toggle is not visible until you hover over comment name. I would rather have everything visible than to have to discover them by accident.

Overall: Quick communication between departments that allow for expedited patient care. The software is easy to use and functions quickly. This software is HIPPA compliant, which allows for a safe environment for us to deal with patient records.

Comments: I'm a fan! So the pros outweigh the cons, and Box seems to always be active working toward improving their product. I've implemented Box Business/Enterprise for three companies, and users definitely benefited from the collaborative system, even when using only the base features.

Pros: The Box platform works, and does what it says it will do. Live online training is especially helpful for bringing on new users, and there are numerous pre-recorded tutorials and white papers. No excuses for users to not understand how the platform works. System is flexible for businesses needing to meet international security, medical compliance, etc.

Cons: Navigating all admin options can be a little daunting. The default settings are probably 'right' for Enterprise users, but for a small business I had to invest a little time with tech support to get the settings right so that my users couldn't make changes that affected the monthly cost. The Box business (from their sales, support, features) are strongly designed for large customers, not for a freelancer working with clients (examples: minimum 3 users, automated 'Relay' workflows Enterprise only.)

Pros: I love its integration with Canvas. It is the best file sharing/storage service that integrates with Canvas. We have Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive integrated with our instance of Canvas as all, and Box stands head and shoulders above those. The security is top-notch and the ease of use is great. Users can access their box content through their Canvas profile page. Teachers can enable Box use at the course level, and share Box content directly in an assignment or information page. The Box preview window is amazing as well. It allows you to preview pretty much any file type. It also has a new Microsoft Office plugin that allows you to work on a file locally on your machine and save it directly to your Box account without storing the file on your machine and syncing it.

Cons: Box doesn't allow its sync tool to be used on beta OS environments like a beta version of macOS. It kind of sucks having to wait for the general release of an operating system just because you're dependent on a file-storage service.

Overall: Integration with Canvas is a huge benefit. Box's security is probably the best for its intended use. Box is also very simple to use. I love how the sync tool just works seamlessly in the background.

Pros: We switched to Box from an older competitor when we realized we could get truly unlimited storage for a lower price than we were paying for a mid-level option at another competitor. When I actually got in the weeds of working with it, I was blown away by how much more feature-rich it was too. First of all, the design and user-interface is really very simple and visually appealing. But Box really shines when you're doing a lot of collaborative work and file-sharing. The tagging and notes features are very well designed, and being able to easily see all past versions of any file is really helpful.

Cons: Setting up Box Sync to automatically sync certain files/folders from my laptop was a little clunky compared to the competitor we had used, which just backed up pretty much EVERYTHING on both my cloud storage and hard drive. But the benefits of it working this way definitely override the clunkiness, and once you're past the initial setup decisions, it's just as easy but with less unnecessary junk on my hard drive.

Overall: More storage, saved money, AND improved ability to share files and work collaboratively with a remote team.

Great file-sharing and collaboration tool.

Pros: Good all-around file sharing and collaboration tool. The Microsoft plugins allow you to edit a file either on your desktop or in Microsoft Online (though it breaks our formatting sometimes, so be careful!). Share links are easy to generate, even for users who don't have access to the company Box folders. Keep in mind that an administrator should be in charge of keeping the files in Box manageable and organized as well, as it can get out of control with tens or hundreds of people adding and organizing files.

Cons: Box Sync / Box Drive are not perfect - often we end up with duplicates of documents because two people opened them at the same time, or there was some issue with syncing that duplicated the documents on both ends, then was unable to reconcile them when syncing caught up. Also, while the admins can see some user activity, they can't see deleted items, which would actually be a useful thing for us to be able to see.

Pros: Box has changed lives within our company. Don't get me wrong- transitioning to box was a process but it was so worth it! Everything is in one place and you can really control who has access to what. It is so much easier to share files and customize who can edit one. I love that I can share a file and customize each persons access to it (admin, editor, reviewer, etc.) You can set it up for people outside of your organization to view files or no one at all to be able to view your files. Files can be uploaded by just dragging to a webpage which saves so much time. You can access all your documents even away from work with the box.com website which is so helpful when I need to check something when I am away from the office.

Cons: There is a learning curve with this- it does take sometime to get used to. Box does require many updates and sometimes the updates aren't able to update and your computer crashes. We have been warned many times by our IT people not to update for months at a time or it will mess up our computer. I believe their are some bugs on that end.

Pros: They concentrated on the enterprise first, which is valid. Therefore security has always been tight, platform support is solid, and enterprise administration is very robust. Shared folders are great in a workplace and make everything very simple to get the right docs to the right people when they need them. Box is definitely an enterprise company, with the support to back up that claim.

Cons: I should start by saying I tried Box, Dropbox, and Drive head-to-head back when everyone was going to cloud-storage and my experience with Box since then has been on and off. I'm still a current user of Drive and Dropbox and I pay for both every month. Our office doesn't need the level of admin support Box provides, which is the only feature that puts it ahead of the competition. Box was just never as feature complete as Dropbox, I don't want a separate cloud storage provider for business and for home use and Box lacked simple tools like automatic photo upload. As well, the web interface lacks and the uploads feel slower and more prone to error when compared to Dropbox. It's improved lately but it's still behind in file viewing support, etc. Also paid users have a max file size!!! Unacceptable if you do any sort of video/graphics work.

Recommendations to other buyers: Small shop? Dropbox. Individual? Dropbox. Don't need desktop uploads to go too quick and have an android phone? Drive. I feel like only large enterprises with a lot of policy management should try Box. My ratings for Box are good, because they're decent, I just feel they're not the best in a space that's very tight for competition.

Pros: It is more secure than other cloud storage applications. Irrespective of the mobile device or operating system you use, the application syncs well with all of them. We get the entire control to decide `who can access what¿. We get all the previous versions of a document. We can create folders and subfolders to organize our information. The searchability function is very powerful. You can even invite outside members to view a file by just sending them a link. Provides an ample number of integrations with other tools like the sales force, Microsoft office. The reporting features are great. You can easily track and find any document or blueprint of service operation from any device.

Cons: We don¿t have much of negatives to right down here, but still, an improvement in the default settings would be awesome. The document viewer feature needs upgradation. Unavailability of features in the admin console is another pitfall. Even though reporting features are great if they could provide some advanced unique features that would be awesome!

Pros: This is a easy to use web based system for storing documents. This online tool can be used across the organization for editing, Storage and Sharing the documents. Retrieval of stored documents is also comparatively simpler with its better search functionalities. Box provides most of the Document management System features like Versioning, Metadata, Download, Access control and many others. Box also allows to view most document formats directly with its improved viewer. Online editing or Sync up is also great feature where it allows one to directly edit the documents from their desktop with the Box desktop plugin installed and sync up online.

Cons: Box has most of the great features that any organization requires for their employees to quickly store and share documents. However, The Box document viewer is still need to improved as sometimes it does not opens up a document due to various reasons and also limitation for selected doc formats. The Access Control feature also needs improvement or may be available in some versions.

Pros: - Easy to administer. Security groups and waterfall permissions makes everything very easy.
- Integrated with Microsoft Office and offers co-authoring (multiple folks can be in one file at once).
- It just works!

Cons: - I'm not crazy about the Box Sync application that syncs Box files down to your hard drive. I've had a lot of issues with it taking up bandwidth and filling up hard drives when too much data is synced. Really looking forward to the rollout of Box Desktop that will stream the data and make these issues go away.
- Workflows need some work. An integration with DocuSign would be really nice.

Overall: We were a fast growing company that relied upon file servers to house our data. We experimented with OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox and none of these products met our expectations. Box met all of our expectations for cloud based storage and are adding more useful features all the time.

Recommendations to other buyers: As an administrator of this app, I highly recommend that you determine your file structure and permissions before rolling it out to your users. I learned the hard way that granting everyone access to the top level folders and letting them create folders themselves was a bad idea.

Pros: Ease of use and integrations with other tools.

Cons: The granularity of controls for some features and functions.

Overall: I get asked all the time what is Box... Why do i need Box if I have other tools... My elevator reply is... Box is so much more than just an Enterprise File Sync and Share tool... EFSS while so valuable is table stakes and many tools provide these features... Box just does them better. What you really need to look at is Enterprise Content Management... Box is a very strong player in Enterprise Content Management and that means so much more to organizations than EFSS and SharePoint and Filenet, while they are Enterprise Content Management tools they do not have the integrations, user experience, management and controls that Box has. The most important part of Box is Box as a platform... Box has APIs and Mobile SKDs that allow you to build custom apps and websites as well as use 3rd party applications. When you combine all of this together that is what makes it so powerful.

Recommendations to other buyers: Check it out... I assure you Box has the ability to transform your organization if you just give it a chance.

Pros: I use the free version and have individually shared folders for each of my customers. Everything is saved in a dedicated file structure, which I have set up as a folder template. The automatic versioning each time a file is changed and saved is an excellent feature, which allows me to keep track of changes made by the customer. I particularly like Box Sync, which keeps my desktop up to date with all of the latest documentation added.

Cons: Given that I am using the free version, I feel that there are no cons. A great piece of software. I feel that the pricing structure could possibly have a small business type tariff for the one man band like me. If it was cheaper, I would probably upgrade.

Overall: Central repository for everything. No more searching around, scratching head, wondering where you saved something. At a glance check for latest version number. Sharing facility excellent.

Pros: I can set my plans and timings according to files. Price isn¿t that much high and moreover I can save data up to 10GB for free. It also offers me the business and enterprise plans where I can save data up to the limit of 2TB. I can edit my files by downloading them and upload them back.

Cons: The user limit of this cloud is major flaw the limit starts from 3 and ends up to 10 people. By giving small price I can¿t enjoy the features which are facilitated to higher priced plans. As compared to other cloud services this cloud service provide you less amount of storage which I can get more in other cloud company.

Overall: I feel bit secure as i can set passwords and expiration dates if I am sending files to the third party or any client. I can preview files without downloading them. I can share files and folders with my clients and colleagues by setting the permissions so they can only see it.

Pros: You can share and collaborate with others in your organization, and invite outside collaborators into files, or whole folders.
Each file has a direct link that you can send in an email or IM
Version history for documents allows for you to look back at earlier copies in case of errors
Multiple people can edit the same document at one time

Cons: The document links do not correspond to folder hierarchy, rather they are a random string of characters. This means you cannot see the folder structure from the link.
Co-editing Excel sheets may lead to errors or corrupted files
Web links are often identified by outside collaborators' email firewall as "unsafe" and emails are not delivered
"Locking" for editing is only regularly possible from the web version. If you use the one in Windows Explorer, you will likely be unable to "lock" the document
Some documents are randomly deleted or duplicated when glitches occur
If editing online, documents are re-saved often and the "version history" only goes back a few minutes.

Overall: This works well enough for my team to manage our files. I wish we still used SharePoint, though, as it had more features that we need.

Pros: The integrations into our everyday software such as SalesForce and Office 365.

Cons: It's limited functionality with your Desktop (Box Sync).

Overall: What does a Cox company with explosive growth do to manage all of their information? With such an influx of emails and files pouring in, Manheim Digital did not have the time to ponder. We needed an efficient way to enhance our ability to manage, store and distribute information. This was no easy task considering the multitude of shared drives and personal clouds that held our information. In comes Box, Cox Automotive¿s official document repository and sharing tool. After unifying all of our files, we were able to retire two shared drives and also convert other cloud users to Box in the process. Also, with the integration of Office 365, we were able to structure distribution and sharing of files according to the many levels access in existence. With the same sized team, we've been able to stay productive and efficient with over 200% growth in the last year alone. Our utilization of Box, in combination with Office 365, has and will remain a pivotal key to our continued success.

Recommendations to other buyers: Try your best to integrate it's uses into your daily work and start replacing your software with instances of Box.

Pros: Security is at the forefront of everything we do, and Box nails this better than any other product in the space. From a end-user perspective the user interfaces for all of the apps (web, desktop, mobile) are intuitive and user-friendly which allows employees that are new to Box to get up and running quickly without a ton of training.

Cons: At this time the only pain point that still persists after 4 years as a customer is the waterfall permission structure.

Overall: Our organization has been using Box for about 4 years now and it has transformed the way we work both internally and with our customers.

Recommendations to other buyers: Box is a fantastic product with an equally fantastic team behind it that works daily to improve and innovate on it. We're currently in the process of migrating to Office 365 and we stand to benefit from even greater innovations that have recently allowed awesome features like real-time document collaboration. Our users are super excited!

Pros: As a user ,I am able to jointly edit documents online simultaneously with multiple other users via Microsoft online. Therefore making it an easy task when collaborating as a group and follow up on notifications ,and I can also lock documents to hinder anyone from accessing them without my permission.
During collaboration sessions , I get to see everyone who is working on the same document as myself and what document version was updated by each user. Box is a great addition for organizations who have teams spread across different locations.
Box is affordable for teams and organizations , allowing them to gradually upgrade as they grow.

Cons: There have been few occasions when Box just seem to take way too long to open documents for me to view online.

Pros: It continues to gain our support as its capabilities keep improving. The Box platform is becoming more of an all-inclusive solution to current workflows that require too many third party modules needed to reach task/project completion. Box strives to become the best way to achieve frictionless workflow and it keeps building upon that to offer solutions to every facet of the business enterprise.

Cons: The user interface is a little vanilla. Comment(s) functionality needs to have more capabilities. Large file/folder hierarchies are hard to navigate online, users must get comfortable with using the search function. Maximum file size at each price-level should be higher or all the same.

Overall: Making a solid use case study that increases efficiency by utilizing the workflow functions and collaboration Box provides.

Comments: I would recommend using this product. I don't have insight into the cost in order to comment on the value but it is a super easy-to-use tool in an industry where we have a LOT of tools. No extensive training is required for new teammembers to understand how to use it. The version we have is cloud based and there is no storage limit so we do not get error messages for exceeding our storage quota like we always used to on our old platform. Very reliable!

Pros: It's super easy to use, it's quick, there's a decent sized MB limit for files when you upload. Items upload really quickly too! The version history that is automatically created when new versions of documents get uploaded is seamless and the user doesn't need to do anything except ensure that the file name is matches.

Cons: Once you have been granted access to a lot of folders, the list of folders you see when you first log-in can be very long and overwhelming when trying to quickly find a folder. The system dates every file that is uploaded and says which user uploaded it but doesn't readily display the upload time. Sometimes we have multiple files uploaded in a day so saying last modified "today" isn't as helpful as a timestamp would be.

It works without me thinking about it!

Pros: I'm able to create or save a file of any type on any of my desktops, laptops or phones using MacOs, iOS, Android, and Windows and know it will be on every other device in a matter of minutes. So when I need to create something using a Windows machine and then paste it into something done better on a Mac, it's easy. I love that.

Cons: Occasionally but rarely, like 2 - 3 times a year, it will get confused about some subdirectory and I have to create a new one, move those files, let it sync again and delete the old now empty directory. That's no big deal, but when it happens and Box tells me it found x number of errors, again rarely, it doesn't tell me what directory it had a problem with. I have to guess at that. It's the only thing I find annoying about this service.

Pros: Box is an extremly good software to store files in the cloud, it also allows for online collaboration, sharing.
This is very good for team where all the files can be stored online so everyone in the team can acces, comment, edit and share in real time from any device.
It integrates nicely with lots of other software.
It comes with a note taking section that allows you to take note and share them or simply store them in a safe place.
The price is also cheaper than the cometition.

Cons: The only con is that not everyone knows of this yet.
Box is great, it has an amazing price that beats the competition.
If more people use it it will be easier to share files.

Overall: having a place in the cloud to store, share, collaborate and for a price that is cheaper than the cometition.

Pros: The ease of use and user interface.
Abundance of ways to share, collaborate and keep our intellectual property safe.
The integrations possible due to their extensive API.

Cons: While it is not necessarily Box's doing, it is hard that the Microsoft Office integration with Mac is not as extensive as with a PC. So sometimes I have to tell our users 'that's not compatible with a Mac'.

Overall: As a small, globally dispersed team, we where struggling with the difficulties of Sharepoint to meet our needs. After evaluating Box- we decided that it met, and exceeded, all our needs! From the very first interaction to present day, we have had a great relationship with Box, thanks to their knowledgeable staff and willingness to assist us in our unique needs.

Recommendations to other buyers: There is a great team behind this software! They are knowledgeable, friendly and very, very willing to work with the different needs you have and listen to feedback!

Comments: Box provides a robust platform for secure cloud-file storage for our academic community. Its rich feature set for file management, its security features and its mobile platform create a productivity platform that works for everyone from our administration to faculty to students. Box works with Net+ to provide higher education competitive pricing options and was great to work with to adapt to our IT security environment.

Pros: I love the options the Box platform provides for previewing, editing and sharing files once they are uploaded to the platform. Using Box has streamlined my workflow and helped to create a more collaborative environment in my organization.

Cons: The feature set for Box is very robust, and growing. They are very responsive to client feedback and quick to innovate based on complaints. There are few things I would critique on the current platform.

Pros: Handles large files well. Easy to manage in an enterprise environment. We used the API to write a locking routine to work with one of the Autodesk products we use. Very solid, we really don't have problems with the client or accessing via the cloud. This is our preferred platform for collaborating with large drawings. Many of our clients, subcontractors and vendors use Box as well so it seems that it is becoming more of an industry standard. Pricing was very favorable.

Cons: Nothing really wrong with this service. They are definitely enterprise grade. We purchased an enterprise server that seemed very pricey but is working well.

Overall: Very easy to share large documents internally (across multiple office locations in the US) and with external users.

Pros: To be honest, I really don't have any idea who this software is for. After checking the creation date of my earliest file I see that I've been "using" box since 2009, but not really using it, if you know what I mean. I used a sync service to put all my Dropbox files on box, just to be extra safe, because I'm paranoid that way, and then I promptly forgot about it for several months, checked in on it again and saw nothing new to keep me there, while Dropbox kept improving.

Cons: Doesn't do anything that its cloud storage and sharing competitors don't do better. Notes is supposed to compete with Dropbox Paper but it's not even close in features. What's the point of having a Newsletter note if you can't send it anywhere? I really don't understand how they've managed to stay in business all this time. No compelling or unique features. It even looks the same, except for the logomark, after 9 years. That's just weird.

You know what else is weird? Being able to create a Google Doc or Excel spreadsheet and all you can do is click a button to open it...in Google Docs or Excel. Seriously, what? Why is box still around?

Comments: Box is one of many cloud storage solutions I use for my personal and business needs simply because it works. I use it to share data with clients and collaborate. The desk top sync feature is straight forward and easy to set up.

Pros: Box provides a file storage solution for personal and business needs. From basic subscriptions and features through enterprise use, Box has it all. The subscription/account level determines the features and capacities. From free personal accounts with 10GB storage capacities to unlimited business storage. Upload limits, number of users, and features are all determined by the flexible subscription/account levels you choose. Box offers desktop sync capabilities and mobile access. It offers encryption, regulatory compliances, and so much more. What makes Box different is that besides personal and business accounts, Box offers platform plans as well as an extended list of add-ons and integrations. Box allows for messaging and collaboration as well.

Pros: Collaboration is built into the bones of this app. It allows people to securely and safely share content outside to people who don't have access to enterprise like CMS's.

Cons: It's still a very consumer-based solution. It's growing in its governance and new workflow automation. It still needs greater governance and legal holding functions (they promise these will be built out) . This app is years ahead of traditional CMS's but it still has a lot of growing up to do.

Overall: I use and administrate Box for a company that does financial lending. We are using this primarily in our external facing groups within our company.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you need a simplistic way to share content with external facing customers you should look here! It's also a great way and inexpensive way to move your company to cloud-based storage from local hardware.

Pros: I loved Box. We used it for over a year to share files between teachers on a science team. I never had a problem with it-- it was reliable and really intuitive. I never had to contact Box support which is a good thing. It always synced just fine. It was a very eye pleasing and user friendly interface. The ability to drag and drop was perfect. Honestly I saw no real difference between Box and Dropbox. I liked them both equally.

Cons: The biggest gripe I had was how quickly we ran out of free storage. I know we could have upgraded, but we did not. I believe my company stopped using it because of the price, but I am not sure what that price was. We are part of a public school that tries to find free options for file sharing and storage. I did feel like the software slowed my computer down a bit when it was running, so I just shut it down between uses. Other than that, I really liked it.

Recommendations to other buyers: There are a TON of options out there. We've evaluated Box, Dropbox, OneNote, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Google Drive. None of them are perfect. Consider how much space you need first. Then look for reliability - the last thing anyone needs is having their files lost. I'd consider ease of use last. If something is harder to use but has all the functionality you need, consider it. There is a lot of help on the web through videos and forums and online support from the software developer.

Pros: Enterprise Ready, Secure, Easy to use and Anywhere access

Cons: Not really a BOX limitation, but some industries are not ready to adapt Cloud File Sharing services hence a hurdle for our users to collaborate efficiently.

Simple to use, new features introduced to integrate better with other cloud services that enriches the experience further! Go BOX!

Pros: Files are safe in the cloud and can be shared wit hothers.

Cons: Extraordinarily clunky interface, especially for syncing and sharing. Very basic and behind-the-times in comparison to other solutions like Dropbox.

Overall: My company uses Box. It provides a good range of functionality, but the usability is borderline awful. The company chose Box in part because of security, so I understand the choice. But I dramatically prefer other solutions I've used for functionality: Dropbox and Adobe Creative Cloud (which is seriously lacking in some regards.) Box is very slow for up/download and sync, and the organization of folders and files is difficult. We've ended up with a lot of duplication of files and folders to address the mix of syncing and external sharing that we need to do. Love the idea, hate the usability.

Recommendations to other buyers: Speed up the up/download and sync time. Make syncing more reliable across multiple people, so we can do it reliably without being worried that it won't be able to recognize which version on which person's computer is the most up-to-date. Make it more like Dropbox in UI.

Very flexible and easy to administrate.

Pros: Box really nails it on several fronts. Unlimited storage with the plan we have, easy to view and set permissions, robust reporting, and the company seems to be very devoted to moving the product forward.

Cons: I really only have 2 issues with Box. The first one is it seems like the sync is a bit delayed. Once something syncs on one device it sometimes takes a bit for after syncing on another device. The second issue is more of a major one to me. Box doesn't support old hardware/software very well in my opinion. They are constantly dropping support for older operating systems. Sometimes this forces us to upgrade hardware so we can upgrade software and stay in the supported versions of Box. Many of their new services aren't compatible with OS version from 2 or more years ago.

Overall: We were able to fully move our data storage solution into the cloud and administrate it well.

Pros: I switched to Box nearly three years ago and have been very pleased. The quality of the product is outstanding and affordable for small business. One of my favorite features is the desktop sync. It's seamless and without glitches. We use the collaboration features regularly and they meet our needs. Having the app on my phone is great because I can pull-up documents from any place and stay in the loop with my team. In the three years of using Box, I have never had to contact customer service. Any question I've had has been resolved on the message boards.

Cons: The one thing they could improve on is the BoxNotes feature. It could have more features and be easier to use.

Pros: The ease of deployment and setup. The mobile device ease of use.

Cons: Issues with Box Sync. Lack of in depth reports built in. Lack of features in the Administration Console.

Overall: We started with using Box for our Sales and Marketing department that we had just created. They dove into Box eagerly and have been very happy with it. We went from 25 to 50, 100, 150, 250 and now 350 users over the next couple of years. We are using Box for both internal and external collaboration. About half of our Box users access Box primarily on an iPad.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure that you have clear plans for how you want to use Box before you role it out. A great implementation plan will go a long way towards use adoption.

Pros: Box has a slick UI, it's very intuitive and easy to use, they have a ton of integration with other software products, they offer a lot of data storage relative to their competitors, you can set-up an entire company and have them using Box within a day or two at the most, and your data is available literally anywhere, anytime on any device you own.

Cons: They only sell a cloud solution so if you have a problem with a multi-tenant environment then you aren't going to like this deployment option. I also know that a couple of years ago you couldn't hold the encryption keys because of the multi-tenant environment and because of the way they were architected, but I heard a rumor that that has changed. And finally, these guys haven't turned a dime of profit since day #1 and most likely never will so who knows how viable the business is for the long-term, but they did have a successful IPO.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you're okay putting your data in the cloud and trusting Box to secure it then this is a fantastic solution. If you're looking for an on-prem or hybrid deployment where you have more control over your data then there are solutions out there that offer that, but not Box.

Generally easy to use and share documents. Errors can be maddening.

Pros: Syncing - I use both a laptop and desktop at work, and need to share files seamlessly between the two. I have a Box folder set up on both machines - anything that gets saved there is available on both my laptop and desktop.

Box also allows you to create shared documents that are easy to update and edit collaboratively.

Cons: While the Box sync folder is very useful when it works, sometimes it does not. It's often hard to get to the bottom of a syncing issue, and the issue takes many forms - sometimes the folder will not update a file, sometimes the folder cannot find a file that I just saved there, sometimes the folder will save a copy of a file EVERY time I save the file (I have ended up with 15 of the same file before). Troubleshooting these issues is time consuming, so most times it's worth it just to put up with them and move on.

Pros: Box makes sharing documents a breeze and I don't have to worry about backups since it's all vendor-managed. It makes access restriction so easy and bulk uploads are nothing to worry about. For internal use as a cloud based shared drive, it's awesome! Things get updated in real-time and I never have to worry about losing a document because I forgot to save.

Cons: The major concern I have with this software is the complaints I get from external users. When I am sharing a file with auditors, clients, etc. often times I get an error message from them saying they cannot logon and the Box landing page is stuck on loading. This happens with some but not others. My guess would be the file-share firewall settings configured by the external user's administration. Other than this, Box works great and does exactly what we need it to do!

Pros: The interface is intuitive and extremely easy to use. It's super easy to organize all your content and files into folders or sub-folders. Operations such as copying/deleting/moving are all easy to do and accessible.

Selectively sharing folders and files with clients is also easy. You can generate a custom shareable link, or simply add a guests' email to the folder to allow them to collaborate (edit/add files).

Cons: The pricing plans can be a bit steep if you need a few logins/accounts, since they charge per seat. Storage rates are somewhat competitive.

Overall: The ability to easily collaborate and share files with clients, without the need to make a new Box account every time.

Pros: The software has a lot of functionality and options. You can share files with outside entities with limited access and various timeframes. The software keeps a good history and allows recovery of accidental deletions as well. A lot of very good options for use and sharing of information.

Cons: The syncing software is a little glitchy and sometimes syncing doesn't happen as quickly as you would like sometimes. While there is a lot of functionality, that also comes with a bit of confusion for some users because so many options for simple users can become confusing.

Overall: This is our primary source for sharing files across the organization and overall it has been very successful.

Pros: I have been using Box for several years to keep the entirety of my Documents folder in the cloud so that I can access the same files from any machine (including my mobile devices). Once set up, it works seamlessly. It's also easy to share files with other Box users and collaborate on projects where keeping track of various files is a must.

Cons: The Mac file sync app can be a little clunky to set up at first. I wish there was a better way to customize the root folder for your Box sync.

Overall: Having my files with me all the time is incredibly convenient and I wouldn't know what to do if I had to go back to the old way of doing things (keeping copies with me, using VPNs to access, etc.)

Pros: It scales up quite nicely, reason why big enterprises (like mine) use it.
Hipaa compliant, which is a big deal.
It allows for sharing folders, which is nice and not all the competitors have it.

Cons: Not so reliable on keeping track of file versions across several machines. Reason why personally I stopped using it. I sync 7 machines and too many times I lost valuable work for such issues.
Security is great, but not the ultimate. Other (more expensive) competitors offer greater security on the cryptography keys management. Google "Box breaches"
Customer support is very responsive, which doesn't necessarily means they will fix your issues.

Pros: In fact, it is hard to trust any application to store your confidential files, which can be accessed from anywhere in the world. Nevertheless, Box is one of the best cloud services that helped me safely store my files. Sharing folders is the most convenient feature for our department. In some cases, the files that we have are much larger, which would be sent via e-mail or chat. With our business account, we can use the same Windows AD logins to access our Box accounts.

Cons: The documentation for their API is very inaccurate and difficult. As a developer, I wanted to write a few scenarios for automation in my Box account but did not understand how to do it. In addition, synchronization can sometimes be a problem, especially when it comes to sharing between a Mac and PC.

Comments: There are SO MANY solutions that are similar to it out there and I can't just pick one that I can make all my clients use it. Box works great and I'm very happy with it and its place in my workflow, given the reality of the fractured-but-syncing world of cloud-based computing.

Pros: I love the drive mapper. Like Dropbox, Google Drive, ShareFile, and other cloud storage tools, Box has a drive mapper that allows you to access your Box files through your desktop. It makes it easy to find things, move files around, and open/edit shared Word and Excel documents without downloading and re-uploading new versions. I work as a bookkeeper, and all of my clients have their own special way of storing files and documents that I need to access. That means I have to use basically every cloud-based file storage system on the market. I love Box because it fits into my existing client workflow without creating the hassle of logging into yet another system to find the files I need - I can access everything right from my desktop securely and quickly, and clients have an easy way of getting me info I need without attaching documents to emails, which is how things get lost (and not a secure way to share financial documentation). Best of all, Box can sync with Hubdoc, my favorite cloud-based document collection and management portal, and also the most critical piece of my cloud-based workflow. That means anything I collect through Hubdoc (bank statements, bills, receipts, payroll reports, etc.) can be sent to Box where my clients will have access to it as needed - meaning less time spent on administrative tasks for them AND me.

Pros: Ease of use is definitely the most attractive feature of Box. It's easy to "drop" files from your computer in the system and access them easily. I like the new commenting features and "group notes" type features that you can use when you share your Box files with another user. For example, I can post a comment to the group for which draft of a proposal to use, so everything is clearly laid out when you have more than one version of the same document. The icons are pretty intuitive so you don't have to hunt around for what you're looking for. The developers are regularly adding new features (like the group notes, for example), which help make it more convenient and useful.

Cons: No significant negatives come to mind with Box. As with any free program, there's going to be limited functionality when compared to paid subscriptions to similar services, but the features on Box do well to cover the bases of what the average user needs.

Pros: Box is a simple and sleek cloud solution to collaborate/share documents to partners. Easy to use, user friendly tool. Most amazingly it's integration with Office 365(online) is one of the best features it have other than integrating with other with big app like Salesforce etc.. Widgets feature is amazing to provide a link to upload documents to the external vendors. Drag and drop feature for uploading multiple files at ones. Box capture will allow users to take photos of products and video recording for trainings and store fronts etc.., this uploads directly to box.com directly. No need to worry about storage space with enterprise version of box.com.

Cons: Waiting on more additional features in workflows, hope fully next version is up to the users standards.

Recommendations to other buyers: We resolved business case to share files to our regional partners in Asia and other locations of the world using box. Box resolved so many pain points that users were facing towards performance and usability. Box made process of sharing files easy between the external partners and associates.

I loved it, we all shared the documents and were able to use them and contribute simultaneously.

Pros: The app and the webpage are extremely user friendly. We started using this software when a foreign lawyer took a case for us and she shared a link from Box so we could all see the documentation of the case, upload the remaining documents and keep an updated check list of all that we needed.
I fell in love with Box, I used to use Drop Box and decided to migrate all my documents to Box, it is much more user friendly, it is very efficient and quick uploading and downloading documents, and Iove that it allows you to continue to use the site while uploading documents, so you don't have to sit there and whatch the blue bar fill while doing nothing.

Cons: I honestly have no bad comments, its a great app!! The storage amount is great and the app even comes with a feature that warns you before downloading documents if you are not on wifi. I just love it!

Overall: Great tool for sharing documents! 100% recommended!

Comments: Box is the supposed professional big brother of dropbox. Feature wise its not. Security wise its not. In fact the only reason why I can figure out why business prefer box to dropbox is because they got told it was better for them. Like you parents did about vegetables. Fact of the matter is it doesn't matter and at-least with dropbox you get automatic photo backup.

Pros: It syncs files across devices.

Cons: - Security? Encryption? - Exposed public links even if you think its outside the firewall - Box is the lotus notes of cloud storage. It really is

Recommendations to other buyers: Look around. Try something weird and funky like spideroak or hell even try that skydrive thing that microsoft insist everyone uses. Box is 1 step above a flash drive......just.

Pros: Box makes it very easy to work from your desktop or from the web, whichever is easier for you. Syncing to the desktop is much faster than Google Drive or Dropbox. It is easy to share files or folders with people outside of the organization, while still keeping the rest of your team's files secure and private. The API integrations are very robust and easy (especially using Zapier).

Cons: We occasionally have issues where one very large folder will accidentally be dragged into another large folder. Resyncing all of the files in the correct location causes Box to slow down quite a bit and interrupts our company's workflows. I've talked to Box several times about this, but it still hasn't been fixed. Supposedly it's on the dev road map.

Pros: I like that Box is easy to use and allows you to share files with others outside of your company. It's pretty intuitive, and doesn't take a lot of training to use (though training can be helpful to learn about the lesser-used features you may not even think about initially). I like the Box Sync capabilities, so I can access files directly on my desktop, but I think that feature could be improved, as well. Our company's Box agreement gives us unlimited storage, as well, which is a huge plus.

Cons: Because my company uses a version of Box specific to our company, I can't use the basic Box app from the Apple store on my iPad. Instead, I have to go through a complicated, multi-step downloading process to get the correct version of the app. Even after the app was downloaded, I've had some issues with the app locking me out (causing me to have to redownload), which is a bit of a pain. I haven't really had any issues with the web portion, though.

Recommendations to other buyers: The ability to have unlimited storage on Box is one of the biggest reasons my company uses it, along with the ability to add more privacy and security levels, making it easier to share files with vendors or freelancers. We used to use Dropbox, which is very similar; so far I think Box's iOS app is not quite as good as Dropbox, but everything else has been great, and the Box team seems dedicated to making updates, which is encouraging.

Pros: Box is a standard software to store your files on the cloud. Great for sharing and great for version control. Its syncing software to the desktop is standard.

Cons: Box creates multiple conflicts when files are open parallel on different machines, syncing often takes time and is not immediate, plus finding the right box sync software along with setting up selective sync is a hassle which is necessary for every user or else box will download the entire repository on your desktop and slow things down considerably.

Overall: File share and cloud storage. We are looking for alternates to box now.

The UI is simple and clean, and there is no real learning curve, as it is so easy to start using it.

Pros: Box is great for sharing items with others for review. This is especially true for large files that cannot be easily emailed. Another great feature of Box is that it will keep older versions of the same document (if you don't change the name) attached directly to the newest file. I really appreciate this when a change has been made to a document and then a request is made to change it back. Finally, i like to use Box to share files with myself. As long as you have a good connection, this is sometimes a better solution than carrying a drive with files you are trying use at work and home.

Cons: If you end up with too many folders or items in one folder it can be cumbersome to navigate between pages of items. A more robust organization feature would be appreciated.

Overall: Box is a really efficient solution for when I need to transfer large files and has made that task much quicker and reliable than the days of using ZipDisks.

Pros: Docs were always very secure, multiple folders made organizing a breeze.

Cons: Sync times took far too long for a fast paced business, leaving many of us with outdated information, stalling progress since we were all remote workers and relied on Box to have access to client files.

Clearance levels could be individually set but weren't very customizable, resulting in some people having privileges they didn't need, and others being left without the ability to do something as simple as rename an incorrectly labeled file.

Overall: It was honestly a huge pain in my neck. I found myself frustrated with wait times, misinformation, and constantly having to go through coworkers to get files reorganized and renamed for accuracy. However, the overall security and design of the software makes up for the difficulties I had using it because a lot of that was simply due to the fact that it wasn't really cohesive with the structure of the company I worked for.

Comments: Box.com for Business provides business cloud storage and collaboration functionality. The service supports as few as three employees but can be scaled to a custom, enterprise-level plan for companies with hundreds of employees. Box.com (for Business) also provides solid document management (DM) capabilities and security features. The Business plan begins per user per month. It offers unlimited storage with a 5-gigabyte (GB) limit, integration with Microsoft Office 365, and custom branding features. Box also offers another tier of their service called Business Plus. The Business Plus plan offers external collaboration and full user tracking capabilities. It serves as a middle ground for users who want more than what the core Business plan offers but don't want to invest in the more expensive Enterprise version.

Pros: It provides enterprise level security and privacy features. It is a cloud based solution and a good collaboration software. It offers document management feature with storage. It is similar to O365 SharePoint platform.

Cons: Missing online editing functionality for external users. Because of a web based solution, the uploading or downloading deep folder structures can be painful.

Pros: I used Box at a recent project as required by the customer, and found it pretty good for its purpose. Box is in a crowded space, with competition from the usual suspects (Dropbox, Google Drive, MS Onedrive and even Mega), but for all intents and purpose. If your organisation has already committed to it, then it is very good as unlike its competitors, it offers unlimited storage which can be boon these days with many companies being attracted to Box solely because of this key feature.

Cons: Box generally works well similar to its competitors, however if there is one negative it is such that the maximum file size is limited to 5GB, which is already quite a large limit which most companies that use Box shouldn't surpass (think typical collaboration documents (Word documents, spreadsheets, presentation/slides).

Pros: As far as sync goes, Box is the greatest. With the only unlimited storage option currently available on the market, it's great if you need to store lots of files, large files, or both. The sync app runs in the background automatically, and works across OSes without complaint.

Cons: I understand that companies need to grow and not stagnate, but Box is trying to chase everyone else by becoming a full-service business application suite. It's great at sync. It's not great at much else. Stay in your lane.

Pros: Cleaner, sleeker version of Dropbox. After using Dropbox at my previous company for years, BOX was a pleasant surprise. It's super intuitive - much cleaner and easier than using a company-wide "shared" drive as well. Being able to see the history of edits/revisions to uploads is excellent, as are the desktop versions of the platform (although the web version is also great).

Cons: Cost would be my only real complaint. That and the fact that it took a bit of time before they had solid desktop / app support. Mobile has always been great, but as of late the MAC and PC desktop versions are also great.

Overall: Ease of document sharing. Ease of editing company-wide projects.

Definitely on par with OneDrive and DropBox...

Pros: They pretty much knocked it out of the park here. All the features of DropBox with better pricing scheme. Well worth the cost. I am currently using the free plat the moment as I transitioned a lot of my files to another service due to a large amount of data. However as I grow the other types of documents I am sure I will go back to paying again...

Cons: Not really anything I can say negative about it. Occasionally it take longer that it should to sync a file to one of the other computers in the office. It could take 2 or 3 minutes at times even though its showing up on the server and on the original computer. But other than that nothing bad to say.

Pros: A central repository to share all business documents for collaboration purposes. It works really well with Microsoft and Google's software. It is also seems to be the most accessible online collaboration and storage software for people that use screen readers, etc.

Cons: Sometimes when you open a document online and accidentally close the window that you opened it from, and try to save it, it won't save. Giving permissions to others can sometimes be a hassle and requires admin intervention.

Pros: It integrates fully with our identity provider, Okta as well as integrates with several other butt services we use such as Office 365.

Cons: I'd say that the product definitely does have some holes. I'm not completely bought into the waterfall permissioning model and I wish they should have integrated the governance package instead of pricing it separately.

Overall: Overall our implementation experts went above and beyond to make sure that we would see a high adoption of Box within our organization. Also, our Box CSM has been extremely engaged in taking feedback from our organization and helping us grow our use cases and implementation.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's hands down the best of both worlds for EFSS. It's enterprise ready, they have an awesome team backing Box, and it's very user friendly.

Comments: This was used as part of our enterprise projects and did an excellent job at securely managing our file repositories across all devices and users. Professional and clean to use

Pros: Box made it easy enough to add external client users and also great administration ability to keep internal info secure.

Cons: IBM box has not been of great help on my mobile. I have an Android device and think it has a better feel on iOS

Recommendations to other buyers: Box is perfect for managing file repositories in large projects. Be sure to keep a eye on the admin functionality as it is possible to leave files open for public use

I've used Box intermittently over the last 3 or so years while working in advertising and tech.

Pros: Box is great for massive file sharing. If I'm sending an exceptionally large file, I'll send it via Box vs. another platform. Box is known for supporting large files and they certainly deliver on that. What's also great about Box is it has unlimited cloud storage which is not the case for competitors like Dropbox. It has all the necessary privacy and collaboration features that other file sharing platforms have, too, so it may be one of the best if not the best option out there. The main issue is people aren't as familiar with it.

Cons: The biggest con about Box which isn't inherently an issue with the software is many people, in advertising agencies, I've worked in, at least aren't familiar with Box so aren't as open to receiving files from Box as they are receiving files from WeTransfer and Dropbox. This doesn't mean these people won't open files from Box but it's lightyears easier to send people files through programs they know and recognize than programs they don't know and don't recognize. If Box were promoted more heavily from a consumer-facing standpoint vs. a business-facing one, perhaps more people in more industries would be more aware of it as an option.

Pros: I like that it allows you to make executive documents and save them in the cloud.

It is possible to share the content and also edit it which is shared as well.

It is possible to access from any device connected to the internet (PC, Tablet, Notebook and mobile phone).

Cons: It has very reduced benefit plans, there are services that give more for less.

A compensated referral plan would be convenient.

Overall: Box has been very useful for working documents and technical reports prepared in teams.

Pros: We have almost never had any glitches, malfunctions, bugs, etc. while using Box. It has been exceptionally reliable from day one.
User interface is very easy to use - you don't have to go digging to find functions. The buttons that are needed can be found on the left side of the screen, or the top-right. Easy beans!
The layout is cozy, and it has just enough personality to be fun, but stay professional.

Cons: There are very few things we don't like. I haven't had any issues with the product myself. Customer support has been helpful, despite being unimpressed at our first interaction with them.
There aren't many flashy-features to the product, but I'm still able to integrate it with DocuSign and other applications. No complaints here.

Overall: Safety and security for extremely important documents.

Pros: I love that Box is easy to install and is accessible right from your desktop, or online. With the BoxSync desktop feature, I don't have to spend extra time logging in to a separate system to access the files I need. Additionally, the storage capacity is great.

Cons: One small con of this software is that only one user can edit files at a time. I have experienced occasional issues where multiple versions of the same file were uploaded to Box as a result of two users making and saving changes to a certain document at the same time .

Overall: In a job where hundreds of documents need to be shared with coworkers and changes are made almost every day, Box has significantly improved our organization and collaboration. It is extremely accessible and allows everyone to have the files they need right on their desktop, without needing to search anywhere else.

Pros: I like everything about Box. It's fast, it's effective, and it's easy to share with others. It's our only filing system we use at work, we don't even save anything to our individual computers. I think everyone should use Box. I was an incoming employee as a backfill to someone who left. Usually that process can be very difficult, but since we had Box there was 100% continuity. It was easy to pick up where she left off because of this product.

Cons: The only thing I don't really like is that the links go "dead" after a period of time when you share them users outside of your company.

Overall: It makes my daily life easier.

Pros: I appreciate the easy-to-use interface that I've begun to like even more than Dropbox (which I'd used for years prior to getting a Box account. The most appealing feature is being able to store PHI in a HIPAA compliant, easy-to-access-from-anywhere account.

Cons: The software takes a little while to boot up when you are accessing from an internet browser. Additionally, because my university has many different versions of Box, you have to specify each time which branch of the university you work with (School of Medicine, general, Children's Hospital, etc.).

Overall: Ability to store HIPAA compliant data in a method that is easy to access from anywhere.

Pros: I like that it is reliable, trustworthy, never gave me a problem or lost any of my data, and I would continue to use for years had it not been for some rather large cons to the service. Overall it does exactly what you want it to do

Cons: There are simply better programs out there. Having to upload new versions of the same document to the cloud is reminiscent of 2010, and the interface just isn't quite as intuitive as others. Even though it offers more free storage than it's competitors, it just doesn't stack up given the ease factor of others with real-time syncing and editing, better UI and more established records in the market

Overall: It did keep my documents safe, secure and backed up. I never worried about losing all my files. It has some good features like 10GB of free storage, but still doesn't stack up to others

Pros: Box allows easy collaboration between large teams. It is especially helpful if you have members that aren't local/intranet as it does support this without an issue vs. other similar tools.
The dashboard to see what projects I have access to is intuitive to navigate.
File management is also well-designed. Desktop folder sync comes in handy, but using the web interface is also as simple as drag and drop.

Cons: The only issue I have is sometimes seemingly random notifications about files/folders being deleted that I've never used. There is most likely a setting I have to change in personalization.

Pros: I love knowing that all of my files I share and store on Box are secure and can be reliably accessed from many different platforms. The unlimited storage version allows us to send large art files to our licensors with ease as well as leave comments on specific files. The ability to view multiple documents at once is very helpful! The interface as a whole is very organized and easy to navigate. You can favorite specific documents for quick viewing.

Cons: On occasion, the sync speed can be quite laggy and quit out. It sometimes takes a bit of time for the synced files to appear on all devices.

You can also edit documents in live mode so that other people aren't changing something and uploading a different version that you were working on. Pros: I like the ability to access my documents on any device, the ability to comment and document all comments from various parties for any file on the site. I also like the ability to assign tasks to individuals for different documents, as well as the option for that individual to "complete" the task, all while being updated through our emails or devices without additional effort. I also like that we can save different versions of the same file, this keeps a good working record of the files and the work that's been done.

Cons: I would like the function of being able to edit PDFs as easily as with other software. I don't like having to download a file, edit, and then upload the file.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you need a cloud service that can track your edits, keep complete project files secured, assign tasks, add commentary between individuals regarding files and tasks, hide files from and/or give access to files to certain individuals, open files on any device and be alerted when your files change, then give BOX a try. We use it for construction documentation without an issue.
