I have more files on Box than will fit on my C: drive, so I have them on a 16 TB E: drive. Problem is, Box's cache has to be on the C: drive, and it eventually fills up the C: drive so there's no more space there. There's supposed to be a workaround to move the cache to another drive, but it didn't work for me. This is mostly a problem when you have a lot of locally synced files, because these apparently go into the cache. Pros Functionally, it's a good service, and works well. When it's working, it synchronizes files quickly and efficiently. Cons I hit a problem where I couldn't upload any more files, getting an error message saying I'd used up all my storage, though I have an unlimited-storage plan. Support said it was caused by my exceeding the allowed download bandwidth, so they placed my account on a bandwidth limitation, but I still couldn't upload any files. They said the bandwidth limitation would be removed in a month, which would solve my problem. But I can't live with this problem for a month. I run a remote law firm and we use Box to synchronize files across our people. I can't have the service not working properly for a month, but Box customer service won't provide me with any alternative, so I have to cancel my Box subscription and move all of our files to another service. The interface is clean and responsive, so nobody had to waste time on long training sessions just to figure out basic file management. While dialing in the advanced admin settings took a short adjustment period, the overall stability, top-tier security, and smooth real-time collaboration have made our team significantly faster and more organized. Pros Box gives you serious bang for your buck. Instead of just paying for folder space, you're paying for a platform that saves a ridiculous amount of time. Switching over from Dropbox wiped out so much daily friction and replaced a couple of extra security tools we used to juggle. The time saved on file management alone makes it worth every penny. Support has been super responsive and genuinely helpful. When we were moving files over and setting up user access, we had a couple of quick questions, and their team gave us direct answers right away instead of just copy-pasting generic help articles. They made the whole setup process stress-free.The interface is clean, fast, and totally intuitive. Finding your way around folders or sharing a file takes seconds, and nobody on our team needed a long training session to figure it out. Cons Setting up complex folder permissions for external clients was a bit confusing at first compared to simple public link sharing. As for the collaboration features, the ease of using each one has each member of the team working efficiently with file sharing. I just can't recommend this storage option over the alternatives offered by more reputable competitors. Pros My favorite thing about Box is the security features that they offer for business focused cloud storage. With Box it is easy to share documents with colleagues and managers without having to worry about your data being compromised or lost in the process. This is one of the few features that sets it apart from its many competitors. Cons My least favorite thing about Box is the fact that there are no standout features to set it apart from the competition. Box is pretty bland and uninteresting when compared to competitors like Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and even DropBox. There are just so many better products from competitors and Box has a hard time standing out. We collect all the comments for materials and work on them together before we reach an agreement, and the document is accepted. Box helps keep all the history of comments and changes, and it also helps avoid the situation where someone has the wrong or outdated version of the article for review. Pros It is easy to collaborate on documents. I can leave comments or propose changes in the text - it is very handy for articles and other documents, because we have a lot of people involved in the content creation and coordination. Cons The interface might be confusing for less technically sophisticated people. I had to create a video tutorial on commenting because some colleagues couldn't figure out how to open the document and leave their notes. For a small team, the cost keeps creeping up and there are cheaper alternatives that honestly do the same job. It works, but I wouldn't say I'm excited about renewing. Pros We mainly use Box to store client contracts and project files that we need to keep around for a while. The folder permissions are good for when we have to share certain docs with clients or freelancers without letting them see everything else. Plus, version history has saved us a few times already whenever someone accidentally overwrote a file. Cons The pricing structure doesn't make sense for a small operation like ours. Instead of searching through filing cabinets I can now find a keyword and view all documents associated with that keyword. Pros Box is acceptable I suppose since the AI search has been able to interpret my messy handwriting without freaking out. I thought the automatic workflows would fail or crash but they did manage to send the correct bills to the appropriate parties. Cons Getting our legacy SQL data into Box migration process was a complete nightmare and neither on-boarding staff informed us of how painful this would be. Way too expensive.
