I appreciate the fact that my contacts can set up a fully-functional Box account for free, something that makes it considerably easier to bring them on board. The interface is intuitive and easy to use, so you get started in a few minutes and then are good to go. The web interface helps you learn about collaboration features that make your work more productive. Pros While most of the time I just use Box as a way to backup and share files on the cloud, I have occasionally used its collaboration features and I find them amazing. Team members can exchange messages, views, links regarding a document that is being drafted. Some of these functions were gradually added to productivity softwares like Office, but you are bound to use OneDrive to have them (and I don't want to be captured by a specific cloud storage provider). Cons The desktop client has had occasional crashes from time to time, but I am unsure whether this may depend on my side (e.g., Windows updates that need some days to be "digested" by the Box software). Overall, I find this product stable and reliable. In my limited experience, I cannot think of any major feature that is not already included. I particularly love the file conversion feature that allows for easy conversion to/from a large list of file formats. Pros Box is very user-friendly, easy to get started with, and designed well for easy collaboration. Security / authorization controls are of utmost importance and Box allows plenty of options for this. File conversion is also incredibly helpful. Cons The free version, fairly, doesn't offer enough space and also has semi-restrictive file size limits. The subscription fee is in the higher end but Box does not offer any exceptional features. The registration and 2-step authorization are not very intuitive. but the actual user interface is very clean and neat. Pros Box has been in the market for a long time. We recently changed to Box mainly because of its encryption. The synchronization and multiple access levels are a plus. Cons The setup and registration are not user-friendly. It took a long time for the end-user to have it ready to use. Our IT department had to write a 25 pages tutorial and most of the time, our clients fail to follow through. Setup process usually ended up via phone call, which is not very time effecicent. Pros What I like most about BOXE is its ease of use, its simple and intuitive interface and also the fact that they are always improving their features. Pros Box is beneficial for managing all of my files; with the correct settings, I can safely share and archive my files with anybody, anywhere. It has a positive effect on all of the salvaged projects. The UI is straightforward to grasp. The ability to form an instantaneous collaborative framework is, without question, tremendously remarkable. The only real problem is the customer service, which needs to be improved in the future. Finding a piece of helpful software is rewarding. Cons The program's only real drawback is its unresponsive support; in my experience, getting a proper response takes three to four days. Every change on Calibre updates the cloud storage and syncs. Also, every new document saved in BOX end up in Calibre automatically. So far it has been a reliable place to save and store my files, with easy to use management functions. The desktop app is also very simple as any cloud storage app must be. Cons Free space provided is very small for today's needs, but other than that there are really no other problems. I've been with the company since the beginning and the platform has proven entirely stable for my business needs. Pros First off - let me say that I was a very early adopter of the Box platform, and I was grandfathered in with 25GB free storage. That said, I am not on a paid plan which is why I didn't comment on the pricing. I can say that the pricing is on par with the rest of the industry. I will also stick to commenting on the free version - which lacks some of the paid features. The Box Drive sync client works very well. I have seamless access to my files on all of my devices. I am able to share files and folders with ease. It is a very stable cloud platform in my opinion. As for the paid options - I believe that they work as advertised, and I've watched the platform evolve and mature over time to be a competitive with the other providers. Some of their partnerships are better by far than the others. Cons Honestly - from the free version standpoint - the biggest issue I had was when they migrated from the simple sync client to the Box Drive client. That actually proved to be more difficult than it should have. I also lost some features that I had with the sync client - due to me being on the free version. Review Source Lane C. It has good functionalities for version management, audit trails. Its also very fast as we upload files with huge data and it does not takes much time to load them.The box sync feature is really awesome since we can do our work without worrying about hardware/software malfunction. Highly recommend for both collaboration as well as backing up document and cloud storage. Pros Box Sync is the first thing I'd recommend if you don't have that already. It sets up a folder on your local computer that you can treat as a folder just like 'Documents' and it syncs automatically when you're connected to wifi. I also like using Box Sync with Mendeley (reference manager) because it syncs all the docs in Mendeley into a single location on Box, which is great. I can make notes in the PDFs and it syncs into Mendeley so that I can see my comments there as well. The version control has saved my many times because every time you create a new version or save a document, it holds onto old versions. This way if you accidentally overwrite something, you can usually go back into Box online, look at previous versions, and restore the right one. It's also easy to use and isn't finicky like many software. Cons Unlike most of my software reviews, I don't have much to say for cons. January 22, 2018 5.0 We managed to get more information out to other staff members who were unable to access the old Physical File Server that was located in one specific office. The level of collaboration between teams and offices has increased immensely since the implementation. Our adoption rate and daily usage are some of the highest, compared to some of our other tools. Pros The security structure is great and very flexible. You can create various structures for all sorts of use cases. The integrations are also great. With so many partners from Microsoft to Google, we are able to create new ways to stitch our software together. Shoutout to HelloFax for being awesome! Box Notes has been amazing as well. Everyone has users using GDocs, even if you're not officially using it in your organization. This has effectively replaced at least the Document component. We have a group of users that cannot get enough of Box Notes. The new UI plus the training materials are great. Way better than most other competitors. As is the support. They are happy to help in any way possible. We've been recommending Box to other non-profits as a great solution to replacing the outdated File Server. Cons The inability to share individual documents to non-registered users for editing. This is probably the #1 driver for some of our users wanting to use GDrive or OneDrive. Review Source LO Lekan O.
