It is a very useful package if your job involves managing multiple projects at once. Pros The tool's best feature is the security of digital assets. You can set up a password on assets and the sessions expire after a while so it guarantees the access is restricted to the concerned team only. Besides digital asset management, it is a great tool to assign tasks and track project completion. It does come with a bit of a price tag though, and it does have some quirks that I wish they would fix with regard to how users interact with the product. Pros I like that Box definitely has put a ton of focus into building out its feature set geared towards large and enterprise clients. It definitely feels like enterprise software (whether you consider that good or bad), and it's reliability is definitely on par with what you'd expect from a solution geared towards that market. Box does a great job integrating with Salesforce which is something I've had trouble with in other cloud file storage solutions. Cons Compared to other cloud solutions, I found sharing files on Box unnecessarily complicated. It was relatively easy to share files with people internal to my organization, however if I needed to share a file externally, the process was somewhat onerous. Review Source NL Nathan L. It also allows external users to upload files, have great integrations with Slack, Outlook, and Docusign, version histories of files, etc. Cons Box might require some getting used to with some understanding of how to integrate it with external platforms. It has search bar that can be used to searching all my files easily, and it have save time when i am in hurry to finding important files and document. Cons Box is one of the best cloud storage software that i have use, and i can't find anything that i dislike with their service. If I had to choose between Google Drive and Box, I'd choose Google Drive for it's very seamless and easy asynchronous editing without having to open different software outside of the app. Pros As an end-user at a large University, it's nice to use the University's login to authenticate and be able to use the University directory to manager users for sharing. It's great to not have to worry about space limits because it is offered as a University service. Cons Collaborative editing of a Word document is really awkward. I don't like that I have to open software to edit a document, compared to Google Docs/Spreadsheet. Syncing doesn't work the way I'm used to with Dropbox, which was super easy and straight-forward. The interface has too many nested menus and functions, making it cluttered. Review Source Brian W. I have never been let down by Box at all. The service has always been up and always been working. I have been doing graphic design during that time and I frequently make quick changes and then save the file again. There are a few of the services out there that cannot keep up with the quick changes and don't allow me to save the file. Sometimes I have to make a new file name just to save it. Box has never required me to do that. It has just worked and has been reliable. Thank you for a great service! Pros The security of the application is actually very nice. However, the part that I am most happy about is that it just works. I have shared many a file and it works. I have set my Box account of different computers over the years and it just works. Cons Obviously I wish they gave me more bang for the buck, but that is not really their appeal. They are trying to appeal to the businesses with their security. They succeed. Review Source JD Jane D. It was easy to pick up and get started using and has continued to improve over the years which is nice to see. They're always expanding their functionality and from my understanding have been a good Enterprise partner. Pros Box is continuously improving their product for large Enterprise use. It is a great, secure file storage system with great search and find functionality, fairly easy to use permission settings, and decent version control. Cons When Box does release a new feature it is usually very buggy for a long while. Enhanved syncing functionality has caused some unfortunate overrides, deletions, and massive version storage due to odd auto-save behavior. Their new live edit functionality on certain file types was long awaited by my team, but it is still too buggy to actually use which has kept collaboration on files within the spectrum of non-ideal practices. Pros The program has great value for the cost. We signed up as a business starter for 5 bucks a month, and it's worth every penny. Security was also important to us because we work with sensitive data and collaborate with multiple people sharing these docs. The sync feature is very quick, which is key to how we work in teams. The system is also intuitive and fairly easy to navigate. Cons The signature feature can be updated and overhauled to have a better interface. Identifying duplicate files and tags would be very helpful - it's an easy feature to add as competitors offer this. I am also able to access these files from anywhere using my phone or another computer when I am not at my desk. It also serves as a back up to files you would be affaid to lose if you computer crashes. Which has happed to me, and thankfully my files were saved on the Box and not lost. Pros Box allows us to share large files or folders easily and limit access to the folders as needed. All of the computers in our department use Box Drive to work on shared documents and reports. We share everything from marketing materials (photos, videos bios) to event contracts and stage plots. The files are always accessible on any device and shared effortlessly. Cons I cannot think of a con to the Box. It has been a wonderful resouce for document sharing and storage amoung multiple computers, smartphones and tablets. I would highly recommend it. September 9, 2019 5.0 Overall it was a good experience but we ended up cancelling our subscription because of the issue above and are already paying for GSuite which included Unlimited Google Drive Storage and similar capabilities. Pros Box is easy to deploy, configure and the user adoptions are easy. Because the software uses the same file structure as Windows and has the Windows Application to make adoption even easier. Cons We encountered an issue with the permissions levels where users were able to create and add files to folders in box, but were not able to create the folder. Instead the user had to create the folder outside of box, then drag and drop it in. It didn't make sense when the user had sufficient Read/Write permissions. Cons Wish you could control access to subfolders. Access flows down from the main folder and isn't customizable that I'm aware of at subfolder levels. Slow load times sometimes when creating new folders or making changes to folders. It is simple, but could use a refresh on the interface. Pros This is a good alternative when you can't use other platforms. It isn't top of mind with file sharing as the interface does crash and is not as user friendly as other competitors in the market. Cons The platform is easy to use, but it can be difficult to upload files. Sometimes when you drag and drop, the files don't upload and you have to manually upload each file. Data sharing within organisation and to external agencies is entirely secured as each file is password protected. Data uploading is so simple just drag and drop. Cons Searching of file feature not work well as sometime not able to find updated file. Permission control on document by host through mobile application not work properly sometimes. Business plus plan price should demolish.
