July 5, 2018 5.0 Pros As a user ,I am able to jointly edit documents online simultaneously with multiple other users via Microsoft online. Therefore making it an easy task when collaborating as a group and follow up on notifications ,and I can also lock documents to hinder anyone from accessing them without my permission. During collaboration sessions , I get to see everyone who is working on the same document as myself and what document version was updated by each user. Box is a great addition for organizations who have teams spread across different locations. Box is affordable for teams and organizations , allowing them to gradually upgrade as they grow. Cons There have been few occasions when Box just seem to take way too long to open documents for me to view online. Review Source Billy A. November 24, 2022 5.0 A tried-and-true solution for file synchronization and storage, Box is more concerned with storage than synchronizing. Because it's intended for you to view your files primarily via a browser and treats desktop capability as an add-on, it functions differently than other file syncing services. The enhanced collaboration and integration features of Box may be used in this strategy to benefit enterprises, especially those that operate predominantly in the cloud. However, Box's monthly membership doesn't provide a lot of storage for the price for residential users—the subject of this review. If you mostly save text documents and modest picture files, the free service tier can be a decent choice. Pros 1\. Adaptive web application that can access files using desktop applications.2. I really like when you have large files you can up load them and then send the link to other people to have the information. Pros This software is so easy to use and learn. You can share all contents or just some things. It's great. Cons The only thing I don't like is you don't know what files other people have that you might need. I love the desktop sync feature, in addition to being able to access my account online. As a property manager on several different properties, this has made it easy to ensure that I always have access to the right documents at the right time, no matter where I am at. Pros Really easy to use and sync to desktop for remote use. It is also quite cheap for cloud storage. I specifically use it in property management and it allows me to access files for various different properties under different ownership's all in one place. I appreciate that this is the one software I use in my job that can be integrated across all of my properties platforms. Cons We had difficultly assigning roles (editor, co-owner, etc) when we initially began using box. Additionally, it was a difficult process to over ride and sync a new box user while transitioning computers between employees. However, once figured out, we did not encounter any further issues. May 23, 2023 5.0 Its been easy - very little IT help ever! Its self explanatory and updates are simple. Pros I absolutely love that I can add/edit content and it is all managed within one platform; it's easy to access and work in! Team members can also easily see my edits and add their own with their given permissions. Cons There have been times where it is a little slow to load but perhaps it's my size files. Overall, there is not one point that I have been unhappy with. Pros I never felt the need for a cloud drive service since I always carried a flash drive with me until some of my courses required us to use Box. I fall in love with Box right away since I started using it. Now I keep all the files I am currently working on in the Box, it allows me to access the latest version of the files anywhere in the world on any device. Cons I hope the could add a manual "refresh/download" option for Mac. Now, it does automatically update and it is fairly fast on PC. However, it appears to be much slower on Mac and you can't really tell if it is actually updating, during times when you need a file right away not knowing if the Box is updating is a little frustrating. The tools easily integrate into our existing system. Cons There's nothing that I particularly dislike. There are some additional customizations that are only available under higher tiers, but that's to my expected. Pros Box is an extremly good software to store files in the cloud, it also allows for online collaboration, sharing. This is very good for team where all the files can be stored online so everyone in the team can acces, comment, edit and share in real time from any device. It integrates nicely with lots of other software. It comes with a note taking section that allows you to take note and share them or simply store them in a safe place. The price is also cheaper than the cometition. Cons The only con is that not everyone knows of this yet. Box is great, it has an amazing price that beats the competition. August 18, 2022 5.0 Pros I am able to use Box with a free account and still get great use out of it! I use Box for mp3 sharing so the files are generally smaller. I haven't had to worry about my storage being full a of yet. Cons I will say that the upgrade options do offer relatively low storage upgrades for the price. For $14 per month you can upgrade to the personal pro plan and get 100GB of storage, while a competitors offer closer to 1TB for maybe $10 per month. So it can get a little pricey depending on the size of your files and how many files you need to store. Switched from [Dropbox Business](https://www.capterra.com/p/143068/Dropbox-Business/) I switched because I felt limited in what I was able to store in DropBox. Think Tanks Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Best cloud / file storage" May 7, 2018 5.0 Pros I'ved used Box, dropbox, OneDrive, and many other cloud based file storage systems for many years. Box is -- hands down -- the best application for three big reasons. The first is that Box has many built in features for SSO, management, archiving, search, and integrations that are very well suited to large scale enterprise implementations to replace client/server file systems. The second is that Box has amazing integrations (pre-built). Some of my favorites are email based notifications and submit (drop in) files via email. Not that I used them for email itself, but they are great to build automation with. The third is Box's API which is super easy to use. Cons The one thing I never liked about Box is that when a corp IT team includes someone to have read access (or other access) to a folder, it always shows up. Box should have user features that allow the user to hide content that is shared with with, but which they don't want or need to see. Clearly one of the huge problems of massive file collections is finding the right data. I think their search, sort, and filter technologies could really use a lot of help here. Review Source Mark D. We freed up space on our network drives and were able to offer better collaboration opportunities. Sharing folders and documents was very simple and intuitive. Pros Box is a top shelf cloud storage solution for teams collaborating on projects. It works great for teams that are spread across offices across the globe but it also works well for teams working in the same room. Files and folders can be shared easily. Sharers can assign Editor or Viewer permissions for shared files. Box has literally thousands of integrations, from Google, to Salesforce, to the Microsoft Suite. Allows you to keep the tools that have been more broadly adopted and moved into the Box system. The business version has unlimited storage and users. External users outside your organization can be added and removed as needed based on project requirements. Cons Would be nice to have a mechanism to audit or track shared folders and documents. Sync is nice but can be difficult for some users to understand. Users tended to stash docs in their sync folder which could get cluttered. It is a very good alternative to other similar services. Pros \- It is an option to take into account compared to other storage solutions in the cloud. - Clean, clear and very easy to use interface. - Ability to use on multiple devices. - Excellent integration with other office automation products. Cons \- The version for free accounts is very limited and offers very little storage space compared to other products with the same characteristics. I am completely in love with it. It is easy to use and, as I understand it, more secure than DropBox. Folders are easy to share and manage, versions are tracked automatically, and it allows for my business name and logo to appear when logging in. Pros I really love everything about this product. My favorite feature is that it keeps track of versions automatically. It tells you when something was edited and by who, and allows you to go back to previous versions. Cons Sometimes I have trouble syncing it with my PC file structure but I have been able to resolve it any time it was a problem. June 26, 2018 3.0 Pros To be honest, I really don't have any idea who this software is for. After checking the creation date of my earliest file I see that I've been "using" box since 2009, but not really using it, if you know what I mean. I used a sync service to put all my Dropbox files on box, just to be extra safe, because I'm paranoid that way, and then I promptly forgot about it for several months, checked in on it again and saw nothing new to keep me there, while Dropbox kept improving. Cons Doesn't do anything that its cloud storage and sharing competitors don't do better. Notes is supposed to compete with Dropbox Paper but it's not even close in features. What's the point of having a Newsletter note if you can't send it anywhere? I really don't understand how they've managed to stay in business all this time. No compelling or unique features. It even looks the same, except for the logomark, after 9 years. That's just weird. You know what else is weird? Being able to create a Google Doc or Excel spreadsheet and all you can do is click a button to open it...in Google Docs or Excel. Seriously, what? Why is box still around? Review Source Stefano P. For some users that would be enough; also you could have an overview of the files that are taking up space without having to search for that option, as it is in a similar application. Cons I think what I like least is the price paid for expanding storage. Pros We use Box at my university and it serves many wonderful features. First, I can store in the cloud all of my work, photos, videos, and other documents so that I can assess them from any computer, phone, or tablet. Using the cloud services in this way, I am able to keep my computer free from unnecessary space so it works faster. Also, being a coordinator and collaboratively working on documents, I am able to use Box edit tools to efficiently organize and edit and share in real time these files. All in all, Box has made my life easier. Cons Sometimes the locking feature for editing documents seems to get stuck, but this is a small thing considering the robust functions this service offers.
