Pros I like the desktop software and the fact that it saves the files offline. Oftentimes, I work during my commute and these features save me from a lot of trouble. Cons There is something very weird when I access Box with multiple devices, that it fails to automatically sync between them. It has caused a great deal of trouble for me. March 4, 2022 5.0 Generally, "Box" has been a blessing! I am able to share files securely with my collaborators and this is very important in today's age. Pros I love being able to have online access as well as offline access to my files for backup purposes. This need is very efficiently supported by the box platform. Cons The file limit per folder is a challenge. I had an experience where I had to upload some imaging datasets. Pros What I like most about box.com is the fact that it is a HIPAA compliant solution, so we can upload important information and documents without needing to worry. Plus sharing information is super easy. Cons Sometimes I wish there were better functionality to work real time on a document and not have so many versions. Cons The issue we encountered was Box folders for each Account/Company we worked with- some people had Salesforce access and used the integration piece, while other people in the company did not have salesforce access so therefore they would create a duplicate folder since they didn't have access to the salesforce piece. You can use it to organize your personal data, to share it with who you want, to create folders for every subject. The shareable links are particularly useful, to be sent in e-mails. Everyone can see and download a Box document if he has access to it: this is far simpler than any of its contestants (Dropbox, Google Drive...). And it is unlimited: you don’t have to worry about the sizes of your documents. Cons My co-workers had trouble understanding which documents could be seen by everyone, and which weren’t. Sometimes, there are confidential documents that become accessible to interns or externals, which can become risky. Finally, the main problem is when two people want to modify the same document as the same time: there is no system like Google Docs, allowing 2 people to modify at the same time. July 29, 2016 5.0 There are many services if you are looking for a place to dump data. But what makes Box the best, are all the features that they layer on top of that. Collaboration, sync, edit, Office integration, great mobile apps, policies, preview, workflows, automations, and more. At my company we have been able to leverage many of these features to meet specific needs of our end users that we would not have been able to easily meet with our existing resources or traditional platforms. We have been able to really leverage the platform to enable our users to gather data all over the world on almost any platform and then have staff anywhere else in the world act on that data. This has increased our response time tremendously over traditional platforms like email and FTP. Box can really be a tool in your tool chest that can solve many problems. Pros The features I have found to be most helpful over other cloud storage platforms are: 1) Collaboration just not that it exists, but it is easy and user friendly. Allowing data that is necessary to be worked on to be brought to the surface 2) Security focus on compliance, encryption, enterprise grade management 3) 3rd Party Integrations allowing for Box to truly be a platform to be used with other software. 4) Mobile apps, very strong and easy to use Cons There are still some management features I would like to see improved, giving more control to IT. SDK can do quite a bit. Sharing works well. Cons SDK can't handle some requests so will need to use API which is not a significant problem, will just need a bit more dev work. Cons Box has not much many least features which harm customer support. It has some complex features which take time to understand but once you will get that you will rock that. I use it for work because our team says that it's more secure. I wish that had more of the functions I mentioned above and then I'd give up my other service without complaint. Pros I do like that you can change permissions for different users and that you can make it sync/download a folder to your desktop for easy and quick access. I also like that you can right-click a file name and have it give you a link to share. Cons I really dislike that you have to go on the web version to create a new folder. It's time consuming (I mean, not really, but it's inconvenient) to do that when you're in the middle of saving a new file and you're trying to do it efficiently. Box allows a way to easily access files at the click of a button and it works well most of the time for my office/professional needs. Pros The software is allows for ease of saving documents without taking up storage on your hard drive. You can also set it up to where the files can be downloaded to an online format if preferred. Multiple folders can be added to separate documents and you're able to share access and editing privileges with multiple people as well and you can limit permissions and access as needed. Cons The software can sometimes have glitches that randomly delete information or sometimes the autosave option doesn't work correctly. Review Source Kim M. It is working out very well for the team. Pros The learning curve was short. I was able to learn how to set this up efficiently. I like seeing who has been in the files by seeing the metadata. I like it better than DropBox for storing documents. Cons I was disappointed that my previous Box login kept taking over with my usual email. Pros Box is more intuitive than some other cloud file storage solutions (the file trees and search functions make sense to most people). It also has all the features you'd expect: native file tree integration, online portal, cloud storage, etc. Cons Box is a fairly expensive solution for what it offers, which overall is pretty simple. We also had some strange issues with viewing items in browser. We panicked when it looked like the files were corrupted, but they could be downloaded safely--it was just an issue with how Box displayed them. I mostly upload to it and leave it there for backup. Pros The best part of BOX is that they have an unlimited plan. Most companies are doing away with the unlimitted plan which is a real bummer. Apart from that, they are like the other online storage systems. It works great and the UI is very intuitive. Cons The Free plan has a very small file size limit. As such, you cant upload just any file. That is a bummer.
