Pros Box makes storing documents effortless. It is easy to access from any computer or phone. I can save all my documents as pdfs and pull them up into several different programs to teach with during my classes or even online. I can also share and collaborate with fellow teachers to develop lessons and assignments. Cons The only problem that I have encountered is trying to collaborate with non Box users. June 14, 2020 5.0 We use Box to update and edit our spreadsheets and also manage our team data. I realized that cloud storage is a necessary tool now that our team is getting bigger. Yes, we can email the files but in the long run, we want something much more organized and reliable, and this is what Box currently offers. Pros It's the ease of use and the ability to use MS office applications within Box. I could never go a day without Box as we mainly use the online function of MS Office to edit and update our spreadsheets and reports. This has definitely been a game-changer since everything has to be in the cloud these days. Cons Box has it's file size limits when it comes to uploading spreadsheets and files. It can't handle online editing if it exceeds a specific amount of data and you have to download your file and upload it. This definitely needs improvement as our team is transitioning into the cloud and it may take a while since we still have a couple of hiccups here and there. Review Source DN Daniel N. I don't use it very much but they've kept my account active. I love the seamless syncing on osx. I have a free 50gb account, so it works very well for my needs. Cons The fact that I haven't had any problems and their software has been installed for 5+ years shows you I have nothing bad to say. I find Box to be easy to use but I have trouble with features like video streaming, and limited size when uploading a file. Pros The ability to store large number of files and I can easily access them anywhere in the world with an internet connection. Box is also cross platform so the client and be installed on any devices. Cons Does not support video file. When a video file is uploaded, it cannot be played inside box or view from a browser. " April 9, 2018 5.0 Great tool for sharing documents! 100% recommended! Pros The app and the webpage are extremely user friendly. We started using this software when a foreign lawyer took a case for us and she shared a link from Box so we could all see the documentation of the case, upload the remaining documents and keep an updated check list of all that we needed. I fell in love with Box, I used to use Drop Box and decided to migrate all my documents to Box, it is much more user friendly, it is very efficient and quick uploading and downloading documents, and Iove that it allows you to continue to use the site while uploading documents, so you don't have to sit there and whatch the blue bar fill while doing nothing. Cons I honestly have no bad comments, its a great app!! The storage amount is great and the app even comes with a feature that warns you before downloading documents if you are not on wifi. It's user-friendly and I can't imagine sharing files any other way! Box is also reputable, as it's become the standard for file sharing in the industry. Cons If your files are large like ours (video files) the upload and download time from Box is quite long. To expand the cloud storage in Box is also quite pricey in comparison to similar products. Would also be great if Box could implement "review" links where users can leave comments directly on the file. Before everything else, and maybe most significantly, I think Box's user interface is better than competitors since it is simple and clear. Another benefit is the immediate updating and modification of all uploaded files. Pros The advantage of Box that I like the most is that I can have a high account limit, enabling me to use more storage space than I can with free cloud storage. With the help of Box, my company is able to create and deploy a database structure that is accessible to all employees and customized to our needs. Cons I usually work with high-resolution images and want to alter the display actual size in Box without making any adjustments to my browser settings. Cons Sometimes, bugs appear where uploading or deleting functions seems to not work properly. Usually a reboot of the webpage solves it. Mobile applications integrate well with other programs and work well. Variety of different ways to upload documents including individual email address for each folder if desired. Free non-managed user accounts for individuals outside of the company (customers). Integrates well with Microsoft products and allows editing of documents within online portal. Cons Expensive per user for file storage. Price per user is the same regardless of feature use or permissions. Handling folder permissions are messy and decentralized. Many times the files are loaded while I am on a computer but with the mobile app, I can share files and folders as needed with a simple touch of a button. Pros The drag and drop feature may be my most favorite feature of box.com. I hate having to click and click and click to get through all the folders where my files may be saved. I like the mobile app alot - it allows me to do so much when I'm away from the office. Cons I do not like that our clients are required to create an account to upload files. Many of our clients are our clients for one particular deal and they don't want to create an account for something they only need with us. The ability for users to upload without an account would be most helpful. I also don't like the way the activity is reported. Sometimes we need to know what file was accessed and when and while I can find that information, I think there are easier ways it could be documented. We are looking for alternates to box now. Pros Box is a standard software to store your files on the cloud. Great for sharing and great for version control. Its syncing software to the desktop is standard. Cons Box creates multiple conflicts when files are open parallel on different machines, syncing often takes time and is not immediate, plus finding the right box sync software along with setting up selective sync is a hassle which is necessary for every user or else box will download the entire repository on your desktop and slow things down considerably.
