I never worried about losing all my files. It has some good features like 10GB of free storage, but still doesn't stack up to others Pros I like that it is reliable, trustworthy, never gave me a problem or lost any of my data, and I would continue to use for years had it not been for some rather large cons to the service. Overall it does exactly what you want it to do Cons There are simply better programs out there. Having to upload new versions of the same document to the cloud is reminiscent of 2010, and the interface just isn't quite as intuitive as others. It is extremely accessible and allows everyone to have the files they need right on their desktop, without needing to search anywhere else. Pros I love that Box is easy to install and is accessible right from your desktop, or online. With the BoxSync desktop feature, I don't have to spend extra time logging in to a separate system to access the files I need. Additionally, the storage capacity is great. Cons One small con of this software is that only one user can edit files at a time. I have experienced occasional issues where multiple versions of the same file were uploaded to Box as a result of two users making and saving changes to a certain document at the same time . It's easy to setup collaboration folders both inside the organization and with external folks. The various Box clients for the desktop have come a long way over the past few years. Accessing and backing up important files is easier than ever. Cons It would be nice to allow large file sizes than what is currently offered for Enterprise customer. Backing up and sharing raw captured video can be a hassle resulting in the need to re-encode the video to compress it or manually split the video into smaller segments to upload. The Box sync software won't allow you to designate multiple folders in different locations for syncing (like Qnap's client does). It's very important to understand how your users will be working in order to decide if Box is going to be the best option to you. Pros Box is one of the most popular tools in Content Management solutions on the cloud. What makes Box one of the biggest? Definitely Security is Box's strength. Additionally I really like the cross - functional team work capability. Overall, a pretty good tool if you want your documents to be synchronized at work, being able to collaborate with your team work and be sure that all your documents are safe. Cons The biggest weakness of Box will be the user experience. If you compare Box with its biggest competitors like Dropbox, you will see a huge difference regarding user experience. Box is not so intuitive when I use it in my day to day work. Although Box is already trying to improve this, it's still behind their competitors. I got in when this cloud software just came out and they were giving away 50GB on signup. man have I used this cloud software/storage solution a ton and I have a ton of data stored there too. But the workflow is best for final files, not works in progress for annotation. For instance, comments are notations on a sidebar, but if a document is multi-page, it's difficult to notate specifics. Box is better for images + word files. Difficult for video. Pros I'm a designer that needs to share files with agencies / photographers / freelance designers / etc. Before box was brought to my organization as an enterprise solution, I was using different ftps for each vendor, and the exchange wasn't as seamless. This product solved some issues. Cons I have a feeling it's not as intuitive as some other similar vendors on the market. For some reason, I really have to walk through the nuances of box to my team members. This might more have to do with the implementation across my organization, and there's confusion between employees (part of enterprise license) and contractors, so sharing is only as seamless as knowing the status of a colleague's job classification. When the files are uploaded to the server, the link to them can already be shared with friends and colleagues. It is possible to create notes to files, joint project planning. There is a mobile application. Box makes it easy to integrate and access content in other leading business applications. Cons The free version allows you to upload files no larger than 250 MB. Pros I like everything about Box. It's fast, it's effective, and it's easy to share with others. It's our only filing system we use at work, we don't even save anything to our individual computers. I think everyone should use Box. I was an incoming employee as a backfill to someone who left. Usually that process can be very difficult, but since we had Box there was 100% continuity. It was easy to pick up where she left off because of this product. Cons The only thing I don't really like is that the links go "dead" after a period of time when you share them users outside of your company.
