I think the service itself has grown to have more features making it compared to any other cloud storage, like Onedrive, and Google Drive. Pros With Box you get a lot of storage, just on the free side. But at the same time, if you upgrade, you can get up to terabytes a lot cheaper than with other companies. Cons Don't really have any cons I really do think it compares well with the other services. It's basically how much storage you get for the money. Box provides much more than simple file sharing, it also allows for automation and integration with existing workflows, the creation of new and more efficient processes, and the replacement of several dissimilar products we were using. Pros The Box web app and the Box Sync/Box Edit software are intuitive and easy for the new user to pick up quickly. For more experienced users, workflows can be designed and used to increase the efficiency and decrease the problems associated with file servers and other file sharing services. The Box API provides those who are inclined to develop applications a standard, with well documented features and flexibility that securely allow access to content and metadata. Cons The desktop applications Box Sync and Box Edit occasionally are impacted by Windows policies (IE permissions generally), which is not the fault of Box, just something to keep in mind when deploying to users. The best part is the ease of collaboration. Cons The only problem i have with this software is sometimes the desktop app can get a little wonky, my files wont sync fully. We have it synced with NetSuite for seamless integration for storing customer contracts. We use it to store all of our product images for sharing with customers. IT is just a core component of our company. Pros With Box you can get unlimited storage space for a reasonable amount. It can also integrate with NetSuite who we use as our ERP. Pros We switched to Box from an older competitor when we realized we could get truly unlimited storage for a lower price than we were paying for a mid-level option at another competitor. When I actually got in the weeds of working with it, I was blown away by how much more feature-rich it was too. First of all, the design and user-interface is really very simple and visually appealing. But Box really shines when you're doing a lot of collaborative work and file-sharing. The tagging and notes features are very well designed, and being able to easily see all past versions of any file is really helpful. Cons Setting up Box Sync to automatically sync certain files/folders from my laptop was a little clunky compared to the competitor we had used, which just backed up pretty much EVERYTHING on both my cloud storage and hard drive. But the benefits of it working this way definitely override the clunkiness, and once you're past the initial setup decisions, it's just as easy but with less unnecessary junk on my hard drive. Cons The editing aspect is tedious. You're required to open the file by MS Excel or word online, which is just another window of the exact same thing you're looking at. So now you have two windows of the exact same thing. Also, if you want to have a quick total/sum of the data, you can't get that and need to open it via online MS Excel. Copying and pasting is very laggy. Sometimes when you're trying to copy from the box file and paste to an Excel file that's on your desktop it will paste "please wait, receiving data...". It has also been an advantage to have the information in the cloud and have it at any time Pros It is a great service in the cloud, has desktop application which integrates seamlessly with the computer. It is easily used, you can organize into folders by projects, type of document, as you prefer and then share them with whoever you want, you can give access to third parties to view certain documents or folders, has good storage capacity, synchronization is fast so you will have the updated information from any mobile device or computer from anywhere you are. Pros Box is recommended by my University as a safe way to store experiment data, computational files, and out electronic notebook copies because it keeps them confidential. Cons I do get slightly frustrated using this software because I find google drive easier to use, but it is more because I am used to using google drive and so having to switch to another online storage system is like learning a new language at times. There are many alternate solution, but I preferred Box due to its enhanced security and encryption of the files saved in the cloud. Pros We use this application for upload files and sharing it with the clients. It is super helpful in sharing the file. Same sharable link can be used for different version of the files. Files you have uploaded is available all the time. Cons Pricing can be better. At sometime it is latency will be there in the backend panel. Pros The UI is simple and easy on the eyes. It took no time to learn how to navigate and use. The lock functionality is super necessary and a life saver. It's easy to share/revoke permissions for folders or documents. It's extremely easy, reliable, and secure for sharing anything with external folks. Cons The search functionality is not my friend. The best feature is that the free version allows you to storage up to 10 GB. The significant security features like SSL certificate and two factor authentication are availables in the bussiness licenses. March 28, 2017 5.0 Pros When the larger organization who was "housing" us was no longer able to support us on their network, we were forced to find a new way to store and organize our files. Box was there to easily transfer our files and we now depend on Box and the awesome sync feature to create, share and store hundreds of our organization's files. Cons We really have no complaints. Our staff of 6 who are located in different areas of the state have actually enjoyed using Box and have found it to be incredibly easy to use and navigate.
