Cons The mobile is very limited in that you can't really playback much if any videos. The storage is different in that I cannot have a file larger than a certain size unless I upgrade to the tier above what I'm currently on. I am very pleased with the straightforward user interface, making file retrieval simple and quick. Pros It does exactly what I need it to do - store files in the cloud using a familiar user interface that allows quick retrieval from any web-connected computer or mobile device. Cons I have only had positive experiences with this software storage solution. If it could be a con, I imagine more free space being available would be preferable to paying for space. Pros Ease of use, functionality, and the Sync apps both desktop and mobile. Cons Box Sync can eat up a fair amount of RAM while doing it's file syncing, so if this is an issue, I pause it until I can let it run without affecting my workflow. February 10, 2023 4.0 My company provided Box accounts with ample storage for file sharing and collaboration between teams and it worked fine with the occasions confusion on 'who owns what' when one folder is moved into another folder owned by a different user, but that also happens on other platforms. The company eventually migrated to Google Drive which has a cleaner interface, but not entirely flawless either. Pros It does just what you expect it to do and is much better than no having a cloud storage / collaborative storage space. Cons I had also used both Google Drive and Dropbox and preferred the interface of both better. It's not so much that the functionality is that much better... just that others FEEL easier to use. Box can feel... clunky... like a reliable, no-nonsense car. However, I have explained the many benefits to my boss and we have begun using it for working on work projects since many of us are not in the office at the same times and we still need to communicate. Pros I love that all of my files are saved online so I can access them from anywhere. It is different in similar options in that they are still Microsoft documents so I don't have to transfer them later. Very easy to organize my files and folders. Cons I don't love that it is an open source through my college. It worries me a bit that it is accessible by some others, but I just avoid saving anything with personal information and it works well. Not only in a traditional desktop version, but also web based and app based. There's also the added benefit of having free options for smaller startup companies, to more expensive options, filled with perks, for high end clientele. Yes, there are many many different options out there, to confuse potential purchaser, but none of them are are streamlined as BOX. Once you've try it, you won't be sorry. It is simple to use - if you know how to create a folder on your desktop then you know how to use Box. The biggest win for me while using Box is how easy it is to establish a folder where my team can begin sharing files and documents. Pros Ease of access. I use Box everyday. From uploading files to reviewing documents. All this can be done at my desktop computer or to a seamless transition to the mobile app. I especially like how I can pick right back up at the last file I was reviewing with recent activity function. Cons I've found sometimes when sharing a document within my organization it takes some time for the link or notification to come through to the person I am sharing it with. A small delay. I love the ease of opening a file to make changes and saving it again. It's a simple, user friendly program. It's helped our company go nearly completely paperless. Pros It's really handy that I can give access to certain areas of BOX to different Managers. As the Director of HR, it's important that some files stay private while still being able to let Managers access other parts of the program. Therefore security has always been tight, platform support is solid, and enterprise administration is very robust. Shared folders are great in a workplace and make everything very simple to get the right docs to the right people when they need them. Box is definitely an enterprise company, with the support to back up that claim. Cons I should start by saying I tried Box, Dropbox, and Drive head-to-head back when everyone was going to cloud-storage and my experience with Box since then has been on and off. I'm still a current user of Drive and Dropbox and I pay for both every month. Our office doesn't need the level of admin support Box provides, which is the only feature that puts it ahead of the competition. Box was just never as feature complete as Dropbox, I don't want a separate cloud storage provider for business and for home use and Box lacked simple tools like automatic photo upload. As well, the web interface lacks and the uploads feel slower and more prone to error when compared to Dropbox. It's improved lately but it's still behind in file viewing support, etc. Also paid users have a max file size!!! Unacceptable if you do any sort of video/graphics work. Review Source AN Amanda N. Cons Setting permission levels can be confusing, both for figuring out where/how to set permissions and for figuring out what different permission levels allow. I rarely access the cloud but have been using the free version for years because I am familiar with the seriousness of the company, which is the most important feature for a cloud to avoid data loss... I don't use advanced features but if I were to switch to a paid version it would be one of the first choices along with Dropbox and Pcloud. I also use Mega free version for many years along with the others listed, but it would be the last choice. Pros It works! and it is reliable, I don't care about anything else, I am a basic user Cons not having used advanced features I can't speak of flaws, the cloud function has always been excellent, for sharing or anything else I don't know, but I use the service for personal data and not for work so I don't share data.
