I love that I can easily find and preview my files, sync files to my computer, and being able to work on WROD documents via Box for Office Online. The application to sync files uses less system resources than Dropbox, which is fantastic! Pros Box for business is a great tool that integrates with MS Office and Apple products. It also is an easy tool for managing access to shared folders across an organization. Cons The pre-created, shared folder function is a bit annoying because it has to be created by an admin and there are many steps to have the folder accessible for the team (ie. create users, then a team, the add the team to the folder) Review Source GZ Giti Z. researcher/student Higher Education Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Box is awesome" March 2, 2019 5.0 Pros I work with large amount of metadata and a cloud content management platform is necessary for my work. My university uses Box platform since it offers security and has effective sharing and collaboration capability for multiple users. Sharing, uploading/downloading, and renaming files are easy tasks on Box. At work, I use it to store large amount of metadata and scanned files. Box is highly efficient and intuitive. We use the business plan, which means unlimited storage capacity. I also find the Mobile app to be easy to use and highly efficient. Also noteworthy is their great customer service. Cons There is not much to dislike. If there is any downside, it is that – while files can be uploaded by merely dragging them into Box, I have found this feature useful with only a limited number of files. I did try to drag a folder with 300 files in it but the system crashed after #100 successful upload. I ended up dragging only 30 files at a time. Some files showed up as version 2 files. Box does both extremely well, with a clean UI for both the website and the iOS client. It's very nicely designed and easy to navigate. Secondly, performance with Box is quite good both uploading and downloading. Box also regularly has promotions to give away additional storage space. I was able to get up to 10GB of free storage space which is definitely more than the other competitors. Sharing files to others is also very straightforward and easy to do. Cons Depending on your network, if you select the thumbnail view from the Web UI, it may take longer to load all the images. When uploading images on iOS, if you upload a lot of images and the phone goes to sleep, all of the upload jobs may not complete. The best way to ensure that it finishes is by making sure that the phone does not go to sleep. Auditor Retail Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "All in one Box" December 14, 2018 4.0 Overall I enjoyed having all our documents in one place and folders/files accesible to each person on our team instead and mapping drive to each computer to access certain documents. Pros I really enjoyed having my team in one spreadsheet at the same time where as before we had to each let each other know we were out of the spreadsheet to input our data in the share drive or email the revised version each time. Cons What I didn’t like is the fact that even the people under collaborators were able to make edits to the spreadsheet or folder and causing the link to break. We had to reupload the current spreadsheet each time this happened and received an error message of the location being changed. I think it would help to have a password created for any edits made under collaborator and/or collaborators permission levels to change to just collaborate and not edit the format. I was able to upgrade to the 50GB free promotion at one time. I have never needed more space; however, if I would need more space, I wouldn't be hesitant to purchase extra space for a service that just simply works. Pros We use it for storage, content collaboration and file sharing. The box is easy to use and has a smooth and light user interface that makes it more convenient for users. Cons The only complaint is the price of the additional storage. In terms of competition, Box is more expensive than Google Drive and Onedrive, which offer storage at lower prices. Have not used it as much recently, but still keep an archive of information in it just in case I need to reference it. Pros Pretty easy to use, and keeps files synced across multiple computers on various networks. Great if you work part time at home, part time in the office, and don't have a work laptop (well, even then it still helps with the work laptop!). Always know you are accessing the most up to date file at any given time. Cons It felt a little cumbersome when I first got it going, knowing how to select folders and files to keep up to date, though improvements were made over time. I think it's easier to stick with entire folders, rather than individual files. One thing I noticed was, I tend to move files I less frequently use to Box and others I use frequently to Dropbox. So in that sense, I think Box does its job fine--extra storage. But syncing speed is definitely a challenge for me. Pros Box is definitely tailored to business and other professional organizations, so even by the look of its design it looks more professional than Dropbox or Google Drive. Also it's not as that difficult to use. I think it took me about 5-10 minutes to figure out how to use it. Cons Compared to Dropbox, Box is not as intuitive to use. It feels like there is always one or more extra steps for each similar function. Also, it felt little more "heavier" and took longer to sync. Review Source FT Fabiana T. Pros Box is a user-friendly cloud storage solution I use on a daily basis. It's perfect for team collaboration and document management, it provides secure storage, real-time collaboration, and easy file-sharing options. The file-sharing feature allows sharing files with others, both within and outside the organization. You can simply send a link for sharing a file with someone that does not have Box. Easy to create folders, designate who can see, edit, upload, download to ultimate control, and great insights into who is doing what (nice to see a potential investor download the whole folder - shows they are serious). Cons The pricing is a little confusing with "managed" users and non-managed users. The quality of the product is outstanding and affordable for small business. One of my favorite features is the desktop sync. It's seamless and without glitches. We use the collaboration features regularly and they meet our needs. Having the app on my phone is great because I can pull-up documents from any place and stay in the loop with my team. In the three years of using Box, I have never had to contact customer service. Any question I've had has been resolved on the message boards. It's convenient to have a central repository to save versions of files and not have to worry about computer updates and issues messing up or losing your files. Simple to invite others to share your folders as well. Cons Too easy for others to delete or mess up your files. Should be an easier way to track changes and keep files before they are permanently deleted. Pros Security is of utmost importance for the company for which I work, since it is a medical malpractice insurance company. We switched to BOX for this very reason. I appreciate the ease of use, and that I can sync it to my desktop. Cons I don't like that individual users cannot organize the shared folders without it having an impact on all the shared users.
