The editing features are nice, letting you make edits and save to update the document for everyone to view. You can also lock the document so others cannot make edits. The folder system makes it easy to organize. Cons You cannot see the edits in real time (like you can with Google Docs) and sometimes you can overwrite someones changes by saving your new version immediately after they did. Cons Even though it provides a prompt customer care service, it is difficult to avail some features as they have higher pricing for the storage of data crossing a particular limit. These higher versions can be uneconomical for some small business groups and teams that might not be able to invest despite the large numbers. Cons The Microsoft online for box feature is limited feature wise.For instance,I am unable to filter my excel columns or zoom into my spreadsheets. You can back up your important documents and files with ease, and know that they will be safely stored in an easy to access site, that can be organized according to your personal needs. For a construction project that lasts 12, 18, 24 months this is a huge benefit. The ability to store construction drawings, submittals, RFI responses, field reports, etc throughout the project comes in handy - when at the end of the project an issue arises. With Box.com storing all your files, it's easy to find supporting documentation to resolve the issue. +Box.com allows you to see all collaborators using the software on a project. This is helpful when construction teams get large and are across multiple firms. Cons \-Box.com allows for you to download the app "Box Sync", which is linked to the PC web-based software. You can then drag files from a Windows explorer folder and drop them into the Box.com explorer folder. EFSS while so valuable is table stakes and many tools provide these features... Box just does them better. What you really need to look at is Enterprise Content Management... Box is a very strong player in Enterprise Content Management and that means so much more to organizations than EFSS and SharePoint and Filenet, while they are Enterprise Content Management tools they do not have the integrations, user experience, management and controls that Box has. The most important part of Box is Box as a platform... Box has APIs and Mobile SKDs that allow you to build custom apps and websites as well as use 3rd party applications. Pros I think for file storage and note-taking purposes, Box does the job and it is nice to have access to all my notes and complimentary files in one place. Cons Nothing special about it. I don't have insight into the cost in order to comment on the value but it is a super easy-to-use tool in an industry where we have a LOT of tools. No extensive training is required for new teammembers to understand how to use it. The version we have is cloud based and there is no storage limit so we do not get error messages for exceeding our storage quota like we always used to on our old platform. Very reliable! Pros It's super easy to use, it's quick, there's a decent sized MB limit for files when you upload. Items upload really quickly too! The version history that is automatically created when new versions of documents get uploaded is seamless and the user doesn't need to do anything except ensure that the file name is matches. Cons Once you have been granted access to a lot of folders, the list of folders you see when you first log-in can be very long and overwhelming when trying to quickly find a folder. The system dates every file that is uploaded and says which user uploaded it but doesn't readily display the upload time. Sometimes we have multiple files uploaded in a day so saying last modified "today" isn't as helpful as a timestamp would be. Review Source RC Robert C. It's easy to "drop" files from your computer in the system and access them easily. I like the new commenting features and "group notes" type features that you can use when you share your Box files with another user. For example, I can post a comment to the group for which draft of a proposal to use, so everything is clearly laid out when you have more than one version of the same document. The icons are pretty intuitive so you don't have to hunt around for what you're looking for. The developers are regularly adding new features (like the group notes, for example), which help make it more convenient and useful. Cons No significant negatives come to mind with Box. As with any free program, there's going to be limited functionality when compared to paid subscriptions to similar services, but the features on Box do well to cover the bases of what the average user needs. One of the key elements is the security provided by the server, to be able to trust and always have access to our files and be able to edit them directly. Cons One of the features that I miss in free plans is that I could see access statistics and download files that had public access.
