I use it to share data with clients and collaborate. The desk top sync feature is straight forward and easy to set up. Pros Box provides a file storage solution for personal and business needs. From basic subscriptions and features through enterprise use, Box has it all. The subscription/account level determines the features and capacities. From free personal accounts with 10GB storage capacities to unlimited business storage. Upload limits, number of users, and features are all determined by the flexible subscription/account levels you choose. Box offers desktop sync capabilities and mobile access. It offers encryption, regulatory compliances, and so much more. What makes Box different is that besides personal and business accounts, Box offers platform plans as well as an extended list of add-ons and integrations. We are using this primarily in our external facing groups within our company. Pros Collaboration is built into the bones of this app. It allows people to securely and safely share content outside to people who don't have access to enterprise like CMS's. Cons It's still a very consumer-based solution. It's growing in its governance and new workflow automation. It still needs greater governance and legal holding functions (they promise these will be built out) . This app is years ahead of traditional CMS's but it still has a lot of growing up to do. We have also been using Box to share large data files efficiently across to our clients. The ability to organize to folders and allow specific people to access specific folders has made sharing also easier. Pros I like the fact that Box allows you to share files securely over the internet. In fact the security was the reason why I used Box at the first place. In addition to the security, Box also like Google Drive allows real time editing and modification on files stored. It allows everyone who has access to the files to work together at the same time with little lagging. The seamless integration between the desktop and the cloud is also a good feature that helps us work together with clients. Cons So far I haven't had any issues with Box, and have really liked it. We love being able to share files with only certain people. Cons You apparently can't have more than one "master" admin. The owner of the company needs to be able to hand it off to me sometimes and cannot. He wants to continue to be the master admin but that requires me logging into his account to add new users or share certain folders, since even as an admin, in a folder I have access to, some folders have it locked so I cannot share. It was a great solution for online storage and really helped us out. Pros I loved how Box would sync to our desktop, so there was really no difference when we deployed it in terms of how we did our work. We could now access past versions of files. It was so simple and secure knowing that our records were safe and no longer dependent on an offline server. It was also easy to share files with clients. Cons There was some inconsistent delay in how it would sync with the server. You have to be very careful to make sure your colleagues are actually opening the file you saved and not saving over your work. However, because we're constantly uploading various versions of video files, the versioning feature makes it worth its weight in gold. Pros The best feature I love about Box is the versioning. Seriously, I never thought this would be such a great feature. We upload our online educational videos to various partners, and if we make a change to a video and have to upload the most recent one, seeing "V2" next to the video makes it soooo easy to track whether the most recent version has been uploaded. I want this feature in all my cloud drives. Heck, I want it in Windows File Explorer. I also think Box's security is much better than Dropbox. You can lock Dropbox down, but the native way to use it, you can pretty much create a link to a document and share with anyone. I think Box has this in hand a bit better. The web app is also much better than Dropbox. I never really understood Dropbox's organization in their web app very well. Cons We upload 1080 videos that are usually 1-3 GBs each. Doing this through the web app is tedious, to say the least. I'm not saying that's Box's fault, upload speeds are upload speeds. But what seems to happen every time is, if we start uploading more than about 3 large files at a time, they inevitably fail. That's something I hope they might be able to work on. We've tried all the major browsers, on various people's computers, and the same thing happens every time, which makes me think it might be an issue on their end. Perhaps update the queuing function? Pros Me resulta muy práctico subir carpetas y archivos y poder compartir los archivos con colaboradores. La interfaz es sencilla de usar y desde la versión gratuita ya tienes 10 GB para tu uso. No he tenido problemas al compartir los archivos y se bajan con facilidad. La velocidad de subida/bajada es buena. Cons No tengo queja alguna con Box. Box works with Net+ to provide higher education competitive pricing options and was great to work with to adapt to our IT security environment. Pros I love the options the Box platform provides for previewing, editing and sharing files once they are uploaded to the platform. Using Box has streamlined my workflow and helped to create a more collaborative environment in my organization. Cons The feature set for Box is very robust, and growing. They are very responsive to client feedback and quick to innovate based on complaints. There are few things I would critique on the current platform.
