It's quick, easy, and easily accessible. I've been able to use this with a little more success than other document sharing sites. Box is a pretty "smart" website in that it can easily identify the type of document and figure out what to open it with. Pros I like the organizing and categorizing process for documents uploaded to this software. The site is always very speedy and I've never had any concerns about security or accessing my documents. It's easy to see which user uploaded and accessed the document, which helps to attribute the most recent edit to a person. Cons Sometimes it does a little too much and can't integrate with other to-do list software I use regularly, like Trello. Review Source Alexandru Cristian I. We love using it to send large folders of files to outside clients on big projects. Pros Box is a simple and easy tool to use to integrate file sharing internally and externally, and is more cost effective than several other options on the market. Pros Box is an easy to use software that allows you to store, share, and edit files. It is quick and user friendly and very easy to learn. I have used daily and have rarely had any issues. I found it quite helpful. Cons At times I would run into issues logging in or opening documents but this did not happen often and very rarely interrupted my work. The file versions feature gives this tool its professional edge and I can also access my large excel files directly from the tool. Cons The only thing that I dislike about this tool is that while accessing excel files there are a certain basic functionalities that are unavailable, like filtering on a certain column. It afforded colleagues and supervisors to collaborate and provide feedback on assignments and clinical information. Its confidential compliant software is fantastic for all fields who need document storage and collaboration. Pros Box enabled many colleagues to work on documents collaboratively and very importantly, confidentially! Box provided a HIPAA compliant software that is/was used considerably on a daily basis. Whether it be used for completing graduate coursework with colleagues in various locations, or storing critical information- Box was integral to the completion of our work! Cons At times, Box felt slightly clunky when editing documents. If there is a way to smoothen out that process for collaboration, it would even further ease and efficiency of use. You can access the folders also through File Explorer on your laptop as if it was your local folder. Very handy. Easy collaboration between other Box users for documents and sharing. The mobile app is also very well designed and intuititive, I can't say the same about the competition. Great user management and policy support as well. Data Loss Prevention also gives us peace of mind knowing our files are always safe. Cons Document editing feels a bit basic and limited. Granted, you can always download and use a different program to edit docs, but would be nice for that functionality to be included. Number of collaborators and users for shared documents is limited unless you opt for a more expensive tier. Also, other features like password strength enforcement and advanced document editing are also only availble in the more expensive plans. Review Source BD Bethany D. Pros In a large remote workspace, it's great to have a central file-sharing location. The number of settings for each file always came in particularly useful, as our team could easily designate whether a file was intended for full-team use, administrator use, client use, etc. I also found it particularly useful to be able to check how often a file had been downloaded—while it would have been nice to be able to track this, having the data at all gave me a great way to evaluate which files clients found most useful. I have not found comparable features on Box's competitors. Cons I don't find Box's interface very intuitive. Part of this, of course, inevitably comes down to the user—software administrators have to make sure that they're using Box in a way that makes sense to their teams!)—but in general I would have loved to see more search options to make it easier to find a specific file without a direct link. It grows with the needs of the public and offers safe, effective access to online documents. Pros The graphical interface is quite easy to maneuver. Control of how and who has access to your files. Using it as a more secure, reliable FTP alternative. Cons The back end needs a little help. email notifications don't always work. Sometimes someone uploads a file to my shared folder and I don't get the notification. If multiple people upload ror make changes at the same time, not all is accounted for in notifications. Tried through the API, still some events seem to be missing from the logs... The features in particular that I find enhances the tool include the ability to rename documents within Box, the ability to download a document from Box, make edits, then automatically save the edits to Box (thus avoiding an unnecessary "file upload" step), and the flexibility in sharing access to folders/files as well as limiting certain elements to only approved users. Cons In the projects I work on, I'm forced to use two different Box accounts that require two different sign-ons. I wish there were an easier way for me to toggle between these accounts, rather than stopping to sign out of one account and needing to go through the process of signing into the other account. Pros My attorney needed documents in a timely manner. I chose Box because it is the simplest platform for any user from novice to expert that I have experienced so far. Cons Syncing capabilities need to be improved and there are limitations that I would like to see improved. As we move more and more into apps instead of desktop applications, I would like to see Box do something mind blowing with their strength in this arena. They no doubt have the power and ability. It took several emails and calls to get to someone who could help. Now two months after upgrading, I am still getting calls and emails from BOX reps trying to sell me the software I have already subscribed to. Internal coordination at BOX is not efficient. It is easy to create and share folders. Uploading is easy with drag and drop and working within documents online makes things simple for sharing. Cons The only con I have is that documents lose their last saved dates when uploaded. The document takes on the date when the document was uploaded. Thus, when you have documents transfer in and upload them, you can no longer sort by date for convenient search of most recent actions. They will all have the same date. Review Source AW Allyson W. I like the file management system and the notifications when you have a new file to view. Cons It was not always easy to find documents. However, I don’t think that was Box’s fault, I think that was how the file and organizational structure was set up. Sharing links with clients or internal co-workers is a breeze and keeps you from having to attach tons of documents to e-mails or even having to send multiple e-mails. Also nice to see when someone has downloaded the files. Cons Just another tab to keep open in your browser so if you only have one screen to work with sometimes it can be cluttering. It is not a deal breaker just a minor irritant, that can be easily overlooked!
