It's a good toolbox item, we create our folders and place all the needed items. Cons I have yet to run into an issue with the software. It's simple to setup and use, I'm able to work with the files and update as needed. It's a huge bonus for students and workers to be able to collaborate with one another. They also make it very easy to store and organize files and folders. Cons If you are using a shared document with multiple users making chances, sometimes Box has difficulty saving all changes. Luckily, there is the ability to download the document instead of working online. Pros I have used Box in the past when working with various corporations on large marketing projects (video production and websites). It was very useful when it was one of the only vendors of its kind, particularly for file sharing purposes. Once you were set up it was easy to share files with other clients and keep each other in the loop. The customer support is good, particularly when you aren't using it. It does a good job of prompting when you are going to hit limits, or if you haven't used it in awhile and are looking at potential expiration. Cons One of my initial reactions to getting started with box is that it is kind of a pain to get it installed and up and running. It looks like a lot has changed and they have expanded their features over the last few years, but for simple file sharing, I would prefer a much faster, simpler method such as WeTransfer. If I am going to collaborate with a client, I would look at sharing files or a folder using Google Drive. The storage options are better, and you get access to way more tools for the price per user. Their PC and mobile apps are easy to use, are fast, and very responsive. Various features allow for easy collaboration and a generous free storage that is allocated for new users. March 26, 2020 5.0 I was pleased with the product overall, but found they had an inflated idea of it's worth. There are other competetive products that I would use. Pros They have all kinds of bells and whistles built into Box. It's easy to use and great for collaboration. Sharing files is very easy. Cons The main con is the price. They priced themselves out of the market for me. Another issue I had was the auto renewal. If you know to do so, you can ask for an early notification. Once they renewed for a year there was no way to get out of it for the year. We enjoy a great deal of savings just in having fewer meetings face to face alone. Pros I especially like the fact that I can allow members of my team to have access to files that we are working on together available to them at any time and place across multiple platforms. The fact that we can all see updated projects in real time has been very helpful. Pros I really liked being able to easily upload photos and documents to share in real-time with my colleagues around the world. We could also comment and tag each other on the content. The Box app is also easy to use and functions well. Our team worked quickly and needed a software like this that could help us share big files asap. Cons This may have changed recently, but when we used it, there wasn't a workflow functionality. It was just for sharing content. So, we couldn't assign roles or check off that things had been completed. Cons the documents that are shared in the software cannot be 'pre-viewed' by placing the cursor over the document or any other way. you have to open the entire file in order to assess what it is beyond the title. May 30, 2018 5.0 Organization and collaboration. Pros We started using box at my old job because it was much more secure than google docs. Everyone instantly adopted, as Box is so simple and helpful! Easy to find things, organize by project/team, and makes collaboration easy. We also use Box at my current place of work, and I am so glad. October 14, 2019 5.0 Box allows our team to cut down on sharing large files via email, and allows for us to have a central, cloud-based location for our shared files. Pros The Box Sync option is my absolute favorite. It allows me to drag and drop files directly to Box as if it's all on my local machine, but it's safely stored to the Box cloud for others to access with ease. Cons I wish the option to "lock" documents actually prevented others from editing. Since it doesn't do this, versioning becomes an issue when multiple people are accessing the same file. " June 14, 2018 4.0 Pros Syncing - I use both a laptop and desktop at work, and need to share files seamlessly between the two. I have a Box folder set up on both machines - anything that gets saved there is available on both my laptop and desktop. Box also allows you to create shared documents that are easy to update and edit collaboratively. Cons While the Box sync folder is very useful when it works, sometimes it does not. It's often hard to get to the bottom of a syncing issue, and the issue takes many forms - sometimes the folder will not update a file, sometimes the folder cannot find a file that I just saved there, sometimes the folder will save a copy of a file EVERY time I save the file (I have ended up with 15 of the same file before). Troubleshooting these issues is time consuming, so most times it's worth it just to put up with them and move on. Review Source SN Samantha N. Since becoming a more virtual, work at home environment, it’s really easy to share files to others in the business that are not in the office either. Pros There is an app for Apple users that I use almost every time I use Box. I am in charge of social media for our company and gathering, editing and sharing pictures and video is my main use for Box. It’s AMAZING! Super easy to use, really quick on load/download/upload times. Cons There is not much that I don't like. It does what it’s supposed to. I guess I would like to be able to see more options on one page and scroll instead of having to switch pages. I can get lost of what I’m trying to find if there is a lot in the folder. We have migrated over 75TB of network shares into Box and successfully brought several departments online with Box. Whenever I hear about detractors, I have been able to solve all of their issues within 15 minutes of meeting personally. I have yet to run into an issue that could not be worked around or fixed with the multitude of tools that Box provides.
