Development Assistant Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Function but not perfect " October 23, 2019 4.0 Overall it saves a ton of space and time but the hang ups I described above are why it is not a full 5 star experience. Pros I have been using this software every day to store files. Overall it has worked very well for what I need. There is plenty of cloud storage space. It is easy to creat new folders and upload files. There is a chat feature that is useful to communicate with colleagues. There is a notes feature that allows me to take notes similar to how google drive functions. Cons The search bar feature does not always find the files that are certainly there, you have to pay close attention to every character in the title. Even then it does not always tried a good result, so you have to find the file the long hand way. The lock feature is useful but there is a lag, so the document I open pops up before I am able to successfully lock the file and it takes extra time to go back, make sure it’s locked and then proceed with editing a document. At times a file will not move or lock successfully, again, frustrating with the amount of work I am doing with this product. Review Source RB Rachelle B. I can upload and download files easily, and sharing access with both co-workers and clients is a breeze. I can also grant admin/edit privileges to whomever I want on a file by file basis. Cons If I had to come up with a negative aspect of Box, it would be that the desktop interface doesn't integrate as nicely as OneDrive or Dropbox. It is secure and they have integrated it with the organizations username and password to allow the single username/password to be used. September 27, 2017 5.0 Pros Box makes it very easy to work from your desktop or from the web, whichever is easier for you. Syncing to the desktop is much faster than Google Drive or Dropbox. It is easy to share files or folders with people outside of the organization, while still keeping the rest of your team's files secure and private. The API integrations are very robust and easy (especially using Zapier). Cons We occasionally have issues where one very large folder will accidentally be dragged into another large folder. Resyncing all of the files in the correct location causes Box to slow down quite a bit and interrupts our company's workflows. I've talked to Box several times about this, but it still hasn't been fixed. Supposedly it's on the dev road map. " December 4, 2018 4.0 Pros I'm able to access files and data anywhere with anyone in a secure environment. It's intuitively easy to use with no major problems. Definitely a great tool for efficient, cloud storage. Cons Syncing files from different devices to the cloud isn't seamless. There are times when I send a file to the cloud (from my work computer); I'll then access my Box account later in the evening from my home computer only to discover that the upload hasn't synced across devices . . . and this isn't a connectivity issue. The data will eventually sync but there are times when it's imperfect. We put everything on Box. Pros I like the ease of use for Box. Its pretty self explanatory to new users. The download speeds of files doesn't seem too bad either. Cons I didn't have first hand experience in this, but someone in my office said it was pretty expensive. Most things that are good are though. It works well as a collaborative tool and I enjoy sharing my files with anyone I need to. I also enjoy the security that it provides as far as logging in and using fingerprint ID on my mobile device. At first, I wasn't too sure how would this would compare but I ended up loving it. It has a lot of storage wherein dropbox I found myself having to delete folders in order to add more. Cons Only thing I didn't like is a lot of people I worked with that were clients used dropbox so it wasn't as transferrable with people outside of my company. Pros The software is extremely easy to use. Without having to dive too deep into tutorials or how-tos, everything is easy to do and is right at your finger tips. Uploading, Downloading, Organizing files, sharing...It is exactly where you think it would all be Cons There are huge limitations to free accounts. While I know that most software worth anything is paid, I don't even care much for the extra space that a paid account gets you – moreso some of the functionality. Both the web client and the iOS client are designed beautifully and are exceedingly responsive. Box is also quite generous with their free plan with up to 10GB of storage. There are other features such as e-signatures and enterprise security but their core value is ease of use cloud storage. Cons The iOS app was a bit flakey previously with difficulty handling large numbers of files to be uploaded. This has somewhat been resolved however with the iOS change of Hidden folders being deleted, I'm not able to upload any hidden photos to Box. We also had access to other Microsoft tools and the integration was really easy. Our offices are far and span multiple cities, so having content that can be monitored and accessed quickly is a necessity. Pros It's really fast. I'd say that Box can be used by almost anyone in a department. Personally my software and dev team made the best use of it. It's also nice that you can just sent an email file instead of having to log in. Also nice, but industry standard, to restrict levels of access on these files. Cons It's a bit more expensive than some other options out there. I think you make the best use/value of it on the Business and Enterprise level. Review Source Jean-Francois P. Pros In a regulated industry such as a healthcare company in the US, keeping our customer data safe is paramount. With Box's traceability and strict HIPPA compliance it has been the perfect solution for our company. Cons I believe everything I would have to say would be personal preference and would be what the admins forced upon us to be compliant with our company policies so it would not be fair to mention here.
