Pros This product has options to be used on almost any platform-- PC, Mac, Desktop, Mobile devices, and more Cons The cost of a subscription is fairly egregious. Pros The service provided free 50 GB for the promotion, in the future, a small monthly fee is charged. Boxing syncs documents well. There is integration with many services. Intuitive mobile app with built-in document viewer. You can use different file formats: pdf, zip, pptx, png, doc, docx, jpg, mp4, and so on. Cons Small file size limit in the free version. I don't usually have a strong preference between Box, Google Drive and Dropbox as they are all pretty similar and I simply follow what the team suggests. Pros \- Easy to share files - Ability to create folders and sub-folders to organize documents - Ability to control sharing rights to each individual document so that you can share different documents to different people within the same folder - Large capacity - Various pricing options Cons \- Limited functionality other than sharing files (e.g. when you share files on google drive, you can convert it to google docs and edit it directly) - Expensive so it is not good for small businesses Review Source JW Jason W. Pros Great functionality to easily save and store your documents online. Easy to share and have multiple users of documents. June 30, 2016 4.5 Pros Box has a slick UI, it's very intuitive and easy to use, they have a ton of integration with other software products, they offer a lot of data storage relative to their competitors, you can set-up an entire company and have them using Box within a day or two at the most, and your data is available literally anywhere, anytime on any device you own. Cons They only sell a cloud solution so if you have a problem with a multi-tenant environment then you aren't going to like this deployment option. I also know that a couple of years ago you couldn't hold the encryption keys because of the multi-tenant environment and because of the way they were architected, but I heard a rumor that that has changed. And finally, these guys haven't turned a dime of profit since day #1 and most likely never will so who knows how viable the business is for the long-term, but they did have a successful IPO. Pros The ability to share content is nice to have, but so many other applications make it easier to do. Cons I would rather use a Google Doc to edit and collaborate and share than Box, as it gets a little clunky. Pros If you don't enjoy free Google Drive through Google Apps for Education, this might be a good solution for you. November 27, 2018 5.0 I've used box for my business to share projects and files with clients for many years, In fact, I was there when it started up - Its been an indispensable tool - I found it far superior to "dropbox" - its iOS integration in terms of previewing files and folders has been a big plus. - I would transfer rather large projects of audio recordings via box with clients all around the world - and it was seamless - not just for me - bt for many of my clients who were not computer savy. Pros Box provides an easy User Interface for uploading data files and/or directory. It also can be integrated with Single Sign-On applications like Okta, which simplifies and secures the login process. There is an option in Box to keep you updated through email if there are files are dropped in a certain directory. This functionality is really cool that does not exist in other systems (e.g. Amazon S3). Cons The desktop version is laggy sometimes. Despite the fact that Box is sending email notifications if there are new uploads or modifications in a given directory, sometimes emails are missed if a new file is uploaded with the same name in the same directory. Pros Efficient and easy to learn and use. If information isn't in a box site, it's very easy to add information by dragging it over. It takes very little time to learn the software. Cons Should be able to monitor duplications. Also good for housing large files related to trends and inspiration. Pros Can be used to host files of varying sizes and formats without taking up computer or server drive space. Secure – users need to be added by administrators to have visibility to various folders and areas. E-mail notifications inform you when files are added by people. Cons In order to maintain access, you need to log in every 60-90 days. Otherwise you will risk being removed and will have to re-request access. Editors have limited functions in BOX.
