Pros Actually, most of the time, I use Box for file sharing and content management. April 30, 2018 5.0 Pros Box is great for massive file sharing. If I'm sending an exceptionally large file, I'll send it via Box vs. another platform. Box is known for supporting large files and they certainly deliver on that. What's also great about Box is it has unlimited cloud storage which is not the case for competitors like Dropbox. It has all the necessary privacy and collaboration features that other file sharing platforms have, too, so it may be one of the best if not the best option out there. The main issue is people aren't as familiar with it. Cons The biggest con about Box which isn't inherently an issue with the software is many people, in advertising agencies, I've worked in, at least aren't familiar with Box so aren't as open to receiving files from Box as they are receiving files from WeTransfer and Dropbox. This doesn't mean these people won't open files from Box but it's lightyears easier to send people files through programs they know and recognize than programs they don't know and don't recognize. If Box were promoted more heavily from a consumer-facing standpoint vs. a business-facing one, perhaps more people in more industries would be more aware of it as an option. Pros It has simple layout and UI. I have 1 tb of storage, which is enough, have no complains. The features are adequate for storage. Cons Having to install Box tools. Pros It offers what you need, it's really simple and easy to use but it doesn't go beyond that. The big strength with Box is that it's very low cost, but I personally think it can be a bot basic. Cons We used to use it at work but we ended up changing services. It didn't work for us, it's easy to use but it didn't function as it should. When synchronizing several documents, sometimes a few were left behind, that would cause many problems for us. Pros I like the ease of use of Box and it’s easy to share and store files in a cloud. It also seems secure to use within the organization. Cons Sometimes it is a little not user friendly and I have to dig around to find things. I hope it gets easier to do real time editing also. Pros Product is great. Sharing is easy and problem free. Software doesn't have many, if any bugs and I trust their security. Cons There is really not much I can see with this software that would need to be improved on. I've had no issues and everything is pretty simple. I deal with a lot of personal information that needs to be secure and storing these files via Box is a great option. Unfortunately later when we had multiple people working on the same files it was difficult to access the correct version, and it became very time consuming. I think we should have re-named and sorted the deep files (more than 3 folders deep) into more easily accessible folders, and we should have deleted older files before we had IT transfer everything over. If there is a warning it would be to make sure you clean up old files and really only transfer what you need. Pros Box is great when you have a really large file that is just too large to send via email, it can be a life saver! It is also very helpful when you need to keep multiple edited versions of the same file, so in case you have to access an earlier saved version you can. Cons It wasn't as easy to use as we thought. We kept having to have our IT person come out and help us locate files that just seemed to get lost?! It probably was user error, but it made us waste time. I think we needed more training. Pros Box was provided to all UT Design students, and it is a lifesaver, being able to access all files from any network made Box an amazing program to use. It also has great team collaboration settings which made it useful for projects. Cons Sometimes I would experience syncing issues when the client was out of date but this was easily fixable. Their box sync functionality allows you to keep your files on the cloud and view from any computer with the box application installed. This makes sharing easy and the fact that it's easy to structure the files much like your regular file explorer makes it even better. Cons This does not have the data rooms functionality that can be done with dropbox, but aside from this it works very similarly to it. Many people are working on these living documents and this platform allows us to access them from a central point. Pros I really enjoyed being able to access large documents from any computer (e.g., did not have to keep documents on the local drive), and could also collaborate with colleagues also using large datasets. Cons There was nothing problematic with this software. My institution supports a paid version of this software which allows for large quantities of data - I am not sure if there is a ceiling for the free version of the software. Review Source DK David K. I can share my file internally or with the outside source easily and securely. The best thing is I can get offline version of the files to work on and don't have to go online every time.
