It is a service recognized worldwide and perfectly safe to handle any type of information, can be used easily from the cell phone, has good synchronization of information. Pros I appreciate the easy-to-use interface that I've begun to like even more than Dropbox (which I'd used for years prior to getting a Box account. The most appealing feature is being able to store PHI in a HIPAA compliant, easy-to-access-from-anywhere account. Cons The software takes a little while to boot up when you are accessing from an internet browser. Additionally, because my university has many different versions of Box, you have to specify each time which branch of the university you work with (School of Medicine, general, Children's Hospital, etc.). Both we and our clients can access. Pros Easy to use, just get a link and grab your files. Cons Files do not reliably download, sometime one has to close their browser and start a new session. Synchronization software was able to upload 500GB+ of files without any issues. There is possibility to collaborate on documents with clear information about the document version. Cons Versioning of the document can grow really fast if multiple people are working at the same document at the same time. I guess that saving of the document is done a bit too frequently, but it really shouldn't be a problem for anyone. Installation of Windows client is a bit clunky, but once it's set up it works fine. Search engine is not ideal, it's a bit hard to find the file if you're not certain of its name. Lastly, I had issues downloading large folders through web interface, had to download each file one by one (or using PC client). Pros We use Box in my organization because it the approved cloud storage platform for university data (Google Drive is not allowed). It is a fully capable platform that easily allows me to share files with anyone in my organization. I like that it integrates with Microsoft Office for contact look-up and file access via Microsoft 365. Cons The interface just isn't as user-friendly as Google Drive. Navigation is all right, but again, could be slightly more intuitive.
