It has saved me an exorbitant amount of time so I no longer have to download files to a thumb drive and/or log in via VPN from home to access my files. Highly recommend this product! I have been very pleased with Box's functionality and capabilities. Pros Box is great. There are several other programs that offer file sharing, but box has several unique features that make it more competitive. Firstly, Box allows you to share files from Microsoft products like Word and Excel so that you can share and group edit - you can't do this with Google Drive. If you are a Microsoft person like I am this is huge. Secondly, Box can be set up to be encrypted, which for a health professions student like myself is great. Not only does our coursework stay private, but it also follows HIPAA guidelines so that patient information is safe. I like the ability to set the various privacy settings for different folders, and love the expiration ability for files shared that you don't want to have available for eternity. The locking mechanism for files which is used while collaborating with other people is something that I like the most. It allows you to lock the file till it is being used by you, thus avoiding any inconsistencies in data. Box has apps and websites that extend across various platforms and form factors such as laptops, smartphones, tablets . Hence it is easy to access your files easily on any device. 2. I use box to collab with my developer team(College friends) on projects we work upon. It is fast, secure and easy method to share dev files with each other. 3. We chose Box since it is highly secure, responsive and has an easy to learn user interface. 4. There are options to extend your storage which obviously costs some bucks but I am a free user so i liked the service despite it being free. 5. The customer support is awesome . They are responsive and skilled. Cons 1\. To extend your free storage , the cost required for the purpose is quite steep and free storage is less compared to some of its competitor. Cons I wish I could view all the sub-folders within a folder without having to click into the folder. Like if there was an expanded view, that would be super helpful. And I'd also like to be able to access folders from various spots--like be able to access folder A through folder B AND folder C. Pros It covers most of the common use cases at a very reasonable price. Integration and API is top-notch, well documented and works very well. Permissions management is also very good. Cons At some points in time, Box has not been reliable. I remember some years ago it happened that Box started to lose files for one of our customers (a bank), in an unrecoverable way. That has never happened again but, of course, it was a very serious issue. February 1, 2019 5.0 Box has actually been very easy to use and it has a very clean interface. The Box sync/ Box Drive is somewhat buggy and can have issues when syncing causing duplicate documents. Box is not my favorite cloud storage service and I wish it has better notifications similar to Dropbox. Pros Box is a great solution for cloud storage if you are concerned with security measures. Box also is great when working with other people or teams. I do like how it has a mobile app that lets you transfer files from your phone. You can share files easily using a generated link which can be public or private. One of the main things I like is the upload and download speed compared to other services it is fast! Cons Box has various pricing points but also offers a free plan. The free plan only gives you 250 MB upload per files with 10 gigs or storage. So the free plan isn't really viable. The desktop version with its sync features are somewhat buggy and don't always work. If you plan on using Box you should use the paid version but I feel other services are cheaper for the storage. However, it doesn't really do any one thing better than everyone else, and it's very expensive. Pros Box is an interesting option for cloud storage and document collaboration. They offer lots of SSO options for corporate deployment, and they adhere to a vast number of international government data regulations. Cons They are expensive, and they don't have a good personal option. If you're shopping around, it's worth looking at Dropbox or Google Drive. Review Source AL Andrew L. It's biggest is the ease of collaborating on the same files and documents. Box is a simple product and adoption is met with few issues. Highly recommended! It allows us to all work more collaboratively and share files quicker. Cons It takes a while for the files to load and for the files to appear in the box folders if they are larger files but this is common with these types of software. Pros The ability to digitally store all of our documents in one place and share them is awesome! Cons Sometimes f i am trying to upload alot of documents and the upload fails, i either have to delete what did upload or spend alot of time trying to figure out what did and didn't upload.
