September 12, 2019 5.0 I'm happy with Box and have no complaints with their platform for sharing files. I have used Box longer than any other file sharing platform, and have been thankful they continue to update and add features for businesses. Pros I love the ease of sharing files with others. Box is probably the easiest to setup for multiple users/teams and integrates well on mobile devices. Cons I would like a more powerful iPadOS app, now that Apple has updated iOS for iPads. With the newly released iPadOS, an updated app that utilizes multitasking more would be welcomed by my team and I. It is also easy to access files from anyway using the cloud storage and to share them when needed via secure folders or access links. You can also esign documents under the current plans, which makes executing paperwork and contracts seamless. Cons It is slightly more expensive than other alternatives on the market, but for the benefits it's worth it. This way I can just drop a file locally and it uploads automatically Cons I find that some of the newer file formats do not allow me to edit them online. April 27, 2018 4.0 We were able to fully move our data storage solution into the cloud and administrate it well. Pros Box really nails it on several fronts. Unlimited storage with the plan we have, easy to view and set permissions, robust reporting, and the company seems to be very devoted to moving the product forward. Cons I really only have 2 issues with Box. The first one is it seems like the sync is a bit delayed. Once something syncs on one device it sometimes takes a bit for after syncing on another device. The second issue is more of a major one to me. Box doesn't support old hardware/software very well in my opinion. They are constantly dropping support for older operating systems. Sometimes this forces us to upgrade hardware so we can upgrade software and stay in the supported versions of Box. Many of their new services aren't compatible with OS version from 2 or more years ago. Review Source KH Katherine H. Cons I would like to be able to view the document and immediately edit, I often find myself trying to edit and realize I am only viewing and have not opened it to edit it yet. But that's not a big deal. February 13, 2019 5.0 It absolutely increased efficiency. With the new platform we use, it takes me probably 5 times longer to find a file as it would have taken in Box. Pros I absolutely LOVE Box. I love how easy it is to use, to navigate within the app. My company unfortunately switched to another file sharing service and I hate it. I wish we could go back to Box. The plugin that allows you to open specific files in their respective apps (i.e. Excel or Word) worked perfectly. Always let you know that the file saved successfully to Box. Best thing is that it is easy to navigate. Moving from folder to folder was so easy. There's no hassle at all involved with Box. Cons I can not think of not one bad thing to say about Box. It can be used instead of a file backup software. It is easy to create folders and organize files. Sharing folders is a great option. Having more options such as "share, download, favorite, move or copy" puts this software on the top. Thanks to the place where I work. Box is used as our file sharing tool. Cons My only concern about Box is that the three options of "Share" confused me once I began using this software. I had no idea about the main differene between "Get Shared LInk, Invite Collaborators and Manage collaborators". Day by day, it became a pice of cake. Review Source Esteban P. It's a good toolbox item, we create our folders and place all the needed items. Cons I have yet to run into an issue with the software. It's a huge bonus for students and workers to be able to collaborate with one another. They also make it very easy to store and organize files and folders. Cons If you are using a shared document with multiple users making chances, sometimes Box has difficulty saving all changes. Luckily, there is the ability to download the document instead of working online. Pros I have used Box in the past when working with various corporations on large marketing projects (video production and websites). It was very useful when it was one of the only vendors of its kind, particularly for file sharing purposes. Once you were set up it was easy to share files with other clients and keep each other in the loop. The customer support is good, particularly when you aren't using it. It does a good job of prompting when you are going to hit limits, or if you haven't used it in awhile and are looking at potential expiration. Cons One of my initial reactions to getting started with box is that it is kind of a pain to get it installed and up and running. It looks like a lot has changed and they have expanded their features over the last few years, but for simple file sharing, I would prefer a much faster, simpler method such as WeTransfer. If I am going to collaborate with a client, I would look at sharing files or a folder using Google Drive. The storage options are better, and you get access to way more tools for the price per user. Their PC and mobile apps are easy to use, are fast, and very responsive. Various features allow for easy collaboration and a generous free storage that is allocated for new users. March 26, 2020 5.0 I was pleased with the product overall, but found they had an inflated idea of it's worth. There are other competetive products that I would use. Pros They have all kinds of bells and whistles built into Box. It's easy to use and great for collaboration. Sharing files is very easy. Cons The main con is the price. They priced themselves out of the market for me. Another issue I had was the auto renewal. If you know to do so, you can ask for an early notification. Once they renewed for a year there was no way to get out of it for the year. We enjoy a great deal of savings just in having fewer meetings face to face alone. Pros I especially like the fact that I can allow members of my team to have access to files that we are working on together available to them at any time and place across multiple platforms. The fact that we can all see updated projects in real time has been very helpful.
