While the interface could benefit from some modern updates, the functionality is solid and reliable. Support from the IDU team has also been responsive and helpful. Pros The fact that the entire company budget is easy to compile, access and view. Cons So far there is no option for someone to maybe sign-off on a budget online and a "copy" of the sign-off document can be saved as proof that a budget is completed, approved and accepted. Pros It is basic - but this is a problem as we are told it cannot be used to perform some more complex budgeting. Cons It is not capabal of being utilised to its full potential for our entity. The consultants and the help desk are great and ever ready to help. Cons There is currently nothing that I don't like. We keep our interaction with IDU as simple as possible for all our users. We hardly ever have any significant issues and errors. Although there was a bit of learning curve required to grasp how to use it but now it's simple. Pros It's a good system that has a lot of functions needed for budgeting. It's great value for money as well. Cons I am not sure if it's related to the current version of the software we use but I think the user interface could be made better. This resulted in a very successful implementation that was achieved on time and under budget. Their post-implementation support has been fantastic, our business did not sign a support contract with them, so all our service requests have been ad-hoc , however I have never waited more than 60 mins for a response and every query was resolved adequately and immediately. I would highly recommend IDU-Concepts. Pros IDU-Concept automated the complete budgeting and forecasting of our Group of companies and has reduced the time to complete our annual budgets from months to days! Cons The user interface is slightly complicated at first, however this is overcome quite quickly. The interface is due some modernization. To be fair to IDU-Concept there have been regular updates and enhancements to the interface. Pros The ease of use and integration with our finance system to load and upload budgets and actuals assisting in reporting across the organisation. Easy to learn and understand. Cons As we are receiving what we require from the system there are not really any system CONS, other than the lack of time we have to get more from the system and use other modules. The system also allowed us to budget and forecast at a granule level were we where not possible to do it in the past nor in a short time frame. It also increased efficiency as preparation time has moved to reviewing of data. Pros The customization of the system, contiguously improvement of the system, Standardization of reports available, version control. Cons The complexity of certain functions, like Activity mapping between attributes, etc. Financial Modeling not allowing multiple structure to be used when top down functionality are being used. Reports are easy to interpret and allow for useful comparison to budget/forecast and prior year. IDU integrates well with our financial reporting systems. Excellent customer service received from our consultant. Cons System is sometimes slow when having to refresh data and navigate various menus and drill downs, cannot always easily go back to previous screens/views. The dashboards in the admin and user sites are very helpful. I've never met a team that is so proud and excited about what they are doing, keeping up with the latest developments in the software environment and their clients needs. In the more than 11 years working with the IDU team I never experience once a negative vibe or unwillingness to give assistance and support. Pros The adaptability of the product, it can be easily adapted to your needs when it is coming to budgeting and reporting. Cons There is no features that I like least. I would like for us to investigate the option to do workforce planning via IDU. Reason for choosing IDU-Concept Our alternative product was the use of excel spread sheets as many other businesses used and is still using. I love using excel but cannot imagine going back to all those stand alone excel spread sheets. It is a user friendly system with amazing functionalities. It has really made our work processes more efficient. The support/helpdesk is very efficient as Users' needs/queries are addressed as soon as possible. Pros The analytical reporting and the Recodes and Accruals are excellent functionalities available on idu Version 5. The idu-Concept Administrator is very user friendly which makes it easier for any person to manage the admin environment, no IT/system developing skills required hence no support agreement is needed. Cons No cons that I can think of, the system offers functionalities that meet the needs of businesses. It is responsive to business needs especially the latest Version 5 has made a significant move in addressing business needs. We mainly use it for our budgeting process and i am quite happy with how everything is structured. We recently upgraded to the latest version of IDU and there are some features that are no longer available and most people struggled to find their way on how to go about using the programme but the overall experience has been awesome and the wonderful team at IDU KZN has been very helpful. Pros The reports, i think they a have been designed in such a way that they even if a person has never worked on the IDU programme, one can easily interpret the information. Cons We always have to email our queries and not communicate our queries over the phone. I think IDU should introduce team viewer to be able to see on our screens what issues we have. With 3 Companies, multiple divisions and about 9 branches, it was a constant nightmare to keep everything in sync. Spreadsheet were send to branch managers to modify. These spreadsheets were then sent back for finance to incorporate it into the main spreadsheet, Sometimes there were multiple versions of the spreadsheets and just maintaining the Main spreadsheet was a challenge. Using IDU now allows all users to work on the budgeting software at the same time. Costs that cannot be broken down into IDU are done on a spreadsheet and referred to from within IDU. The time it now takes to complete the budgets has drastically reduced. Comparisons to live data as well as the past year makes complete sense when users are trying to complete their budgets. April 21, 2017 4.0 The system is not very user friendly when working with many cost centers and an expense account across all needs to be reviewed. The changing and creating of reports also needs to be simplified. On certain functions, the number of import files required is very time consuming. Pros The structure of the system is good and the multi-user function allows overall teamwork. The different account types contribute to overall control and accuracy of input. Cons The percentage allocation option can become very complicated with the levels of calculations required. The balance sheet and cash flow options have served no purpose due to setup and training.
