" November 27, 2018 5.0 We utilize Compleo for much of our EDI, Shipping, Purchasing, and Invoicing documents. It is super reliable, and provides seamless integration with our systems. Once set up is complete, there isn't much to do except kick the server if something hiccups in the network. Compleo waits for document events to occur, grabs and formats them as instructed, distributes them (to the right person every time), and files the original away - basically saves an entire FTE! Doesn't get much better than that. Pros This is the third company I've worked for that utilizes Compleo for their document distribution needs. As far as I know, it is the only tool I know that allows us to convert mass printouts from various platforms (particularly iSeries), workbooks, etc., into beautiful forms, then e-mail/distribute with ease. Some amount of setup is involved to parse and map fields, design overlays, and set preferences for distribution methods. Being able to select fonts, add barcodes, logos, rearrange the data, etc., gives us the flexibility to add a professional finish to all our documents. Cons Needs a bit of babysitting on occasion, when the server is clogged, but for the most part, runs seamlessly behind the scenes. We did have issues trying to "locate" the overlays when our network crashed and didn't have access to the Compleo suite. They aren't stored anywhere in a format that is accessible to other packages. We ended up having to draw them in Powerpoint and Excel and generate manual documents. Review Source Brian F. It works and its automated. Pros Its very impressive to see what compleo is able to do, I have used both supervisor, explorer and layout, and its ability to interface with the as/400 and make pretty, usable documents form spool files is impressive. Cons The only negative i see with the product is the pricing model, i do not like subscription pricing, its expensive, i would prefer a perpetual license with maintenance support as needed. Review Source VR Verified Reviewer Manager IT Retail Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Expensive but gets the job done" December 4, 2018 3.0 When we've had issues, often time very basic things, like using an authenticated SMTP server to send the mail, is met with "You need to buy this expensive product in order to do that." As with any AS/400 hardware or software product, you can add a zero or two to the price compared to the equivilent product on more popular platforms. Pros Once configured, it just works for the most part. We have a number of queues that do various things from sending an e-mail with a text, saving a PDF, etc. Cons The older versions were a lot easier to maintain. The requirement for a Windows license server as compared to installing the license on the AS/400 has greatly complicated the configuration and has made it less reliable. It took me a very long time to figure out how it worked and how to make it do what I wanted. I had to basically bang on it until I got the result I was looking for. Called support and they said I would have to pay for services. After that, I did get help from support a few times. A descent manual or help text or support that would walk you through the scenario you are trying to conquer would be fantastic and make me love the software more. When the software fails or gets stuck, it is very hard to figure out what the problem is. Pros I like the features and its capabilities. However, there is no good way to see or figure out what it does or how to make it do what you want it to. The first time I called support, they told me I would have to pay for services. Cons User friendliness is non existent. There is no help text. The ability to create custom forms with the actual manufacturing system is weak. With Compleo we can create forms for things like customer statements, invoices, bills of lading. We also use to deliver some analytical reports from the system as well. Pros It provides form creation and delivery for our manufacturing system. Cons It takes quite a lot of time and effort to learn how to make Compleo work in the manner that you want it to. Review Source MF Mary F. December 28, 2018 5.0 The interfaces, the configurations files, everything is well planned and organized which simplifies all the support and usage. Our overall experience is positive, and continues to be! Pros What we like most about the software is that it does EXACTLY what we need it to do and stays up and working. The additional WONDERFUL feature is that the support folks are there when you need them, if you ever need them ! When we were looking at upgrades, they went above and beyond to setup and provide us with excellent service. Cons Even when we ported from our physical server to virtual, we did not encounter any issues. No "cons" from us, sorry! Review Source EW Eric W. We use this for all Financial Reporting, Operation Detail reports to US Customs & Border Protection, among using it for scheduled reports and emails to the users. Our customers and Customs depends on it daily. Pros I like that I am able to create amazing Excel reports using Compleo for my Mainframe applications. Instead of getting a whole new financial system, we upgraded Compleo and reformatted the reports which my boss now calls, the new Financial system lol Cons That i don't have enough resources to really expand on everything we are capable of doing with it. We have a product that works on the platforms we need it to work on. (We have an IBM iSeries and sometimes it is difficult to find software that will work on it.) It also works on other platforms so no need to look at different software packages for each platform. The software just runs, and runs, and runs. Very little intervention necessary. Pros It automates a lot of functions which frees the IT staff for other less mundane functions. Cons Because of it robustness and our full utilization of the software, sometimes it is difficult to wade through the problem solving steps to find the answers. Review Source Tyler R. December 7, 2018 5.0 I just started working at my new job and found out they were already using Compleo so I needed to learn how to use it. I was blown away at how user friendly it was. Pros It's easy to use and has a lot of functionality built into it. Make our lives easy when needing to create reports from our iSeries. Cons I have no cons! Compleo lives up to it's word! It works great Cons Does not work well with SFTP. We have tried several times and it just does not want to connect. We have ended up using another product to push the data to its final destination. My role is application support, which includes deployment, configuration and incident management. First 2 aspects - deployment and configuration - are really very straightforward and well documented. For the incident management in my almost 10 years period supporting the application through many different versions I didn't have really any incidents. It's truly "set it and forget it" Cons In Compleo Explorer (v7.1) we can choose many fields/columns for the browse pane, but we cannot re-arrange them anymore which was possible in previous versions.
