Diligent Boards certainly helped make my board process more consistent and therefore predictable and easier to administer. Pros I use Diligent Boards is for preparing and disseminating the Board Books, structuring the agenda and aggregating all the documentation pertinent to a meeting into a single location. As part of my new regular routine, I upload documents and update the board books close to the time of the meeting so that directors can find the information they need both prior to and during each meeting. Cons Although certain aspects of the interface are somewhat antiquated and some of the features such as Search etc, take a bit of time to get used to. And there is an occasional lag during peak times of the day when I’m trying to push through rapid fire updates. By reducing my administrative time spent on manually coordinating tasks, this platform has greatly reduced the time spent on these functions. The platform allows all of us to remain on the same page, because we are never viewing outdated information. Pros I primarily use Diligent Boards to prepare the monthly board meeting packages (which include confidential financial data) to send to the senior leadership team. With using multiple email attachments for each document; I like the fact that I am able to create an entire board meeting package in one central location and then simply drag and drop documents as needed. This has made it much simpler for the board members to be able to access what they need prior to discussing. Cons Even though the platform is extremely feature rich, in my opinion the UI looks a bit excessive when you are trying to find a setting or document for the first time. Cons During the implementation phase, some members of the board were already had their e-mails registered in the platform. So, to link the same e-mail in different organisations, Diligent required the user approval and that the user informed the organisations which he/she had the e-mail registered. As this information is pointless for the person that is implementing the platform (me) and for confidentiality matters this same person should never had the information, I understand Diligent should check this information by itself or exclude this requirement, keeping only the user's formal approval for linking the e-mails. However I do feel they need to seriously compare their offering to others now available on the market to make sure they don't fall behind. Pros A few years ago, Diligent was certainly the preferred provider. Although since the move of all historic Diligent-owned platforms (Board Effect etc) it feels as though there hasn't been a lot of investment in developing the platform to make sure it keeps up with peers. Cons Compared to other current platforms, it's quite clunky, especially building packs and navigating through them in meetings. The pricing structure also doesn't work for a number of our clients who are now looking to other platforms who provide different fee formats. It also provides steps for evaluation in improvements and adopting strategies to increase productivity. Cons I do not have any complaints or concerns at the moment, and it seems that there are many transformative action items that the software can bring. Pros What I like the absolute most about Diligent is how much my Board likes it. They are all on multiple Boards and portals, and every one of them says how easy and intuitive Diligent is. Personally, I find it so easy to use; to create my books, make changes, etc. Cons There's been a shift in their support approach that I find frustrating, but if I persist - and I am persistent - I get the end result I need. I'm just not always up to what it takes to get there.
