I am a jazz radio broadcaster, host, and curator of the Just Jazz Series. I have made this my Just Jazz app, where I host past radio broadcasts from several channels, Interviews, a live stream channel, television shows, future events, and more. I have customized this app to reflect all of my jazz media content and currently store 3 decades of content. It's easy to maneuver and stores a great deal of content. Pros I like the fact that I can have infinite categories where people can view and interact with different content Cons I wish that you could customize and save a template for how you would like to lay out your content. Pros Super easy to use! Loved the clean design that made it great on the back end to create as well as on the front end for all of our attendees. Cons There were a few limited capabilities. We would have loved to have a feature where attendees could message each other through the app as well as having the resort map be able to be viewed as a photo right away instead of having to click through the file/document options. It was very easy to navigate from both the end-user and administrative perspectives. I also loved being able to get real-time data about session feedback. We will definitely utilize this platform next year! Pros With a limited budget for a small symposium, the app was exactly what we were looking for! It really helped provide our attendees with the most up-to-date information about vendors, speakers, and activities. Cons While most of our attendees had no issue downloading and setting up the app, some had trouble, such as being asked for payment or being asked for unnecessary information. Once we figured out to send them directly to the app store, we did not have those issues. I'm not sure if it was from our QR code or just a few hiccups during the rollout of new technology. There are a few small things like coping the event and being able to quick change the date for the next event. I did not have any difficulty populating the event app. Hopefully it will improve its interface to include the hybrid options and also to be more like webex events. Pros Was easy to navigate and use. The fact that it was very easy to populate the app. The participants of the conference loved the app and was happy whilst using it. The app was also very cost effective. To date no one has complained about the security of the app. As a judicial organisation we value our privacy and the app seems to offer this. Cons The fact that it did not have a menu page. The Yapp app has to consider offering the virtual option for events. The fact that it can only be used for one time use. The only bugs I experienced was the one where I was unable to type an annoucement, however that was quickly addressed by the support staff. Uploading handouts from the conference, photos of speakers & special guests, creating announcements to be released throughout the conference. Pros Yapp has a very user friendly interface. It was easier than I thought it would be to dive right in and create the app for our conference. Cons The carry-over of attendees from a previous year's version of the app to the current one caused some issues. Customer service confirmed that, for our purposes, asking them to delete the prior year's attendee list when setting up a new year's conference app would solve the issues I was having. I also didn't like that the only way you could see, add, or schedule announcements was through the app. I would have liked to be able to schedule those at my computer instead. Pros As an event organizer, it was easy to set up, affordable for a small event of our size (70 delegates) compared to other products on the market. Product support was excellent. Cons The download instructions that I copied and pasted did not work for our delegates. It may need to be redone. Cons The alerts/notifications would not push to users in the app unless they had specifically gone through their phone settings to allow the notifications. I'm not sure if this is anything Yapp can do anything about, but this would be a game changer. Also, assuming Yapp can get the notifications to push to users, the ability to schedule those notifications would be fantastic. Tracking continuing education (CE) is a major missing piece for Yapp. Conference apps should be able to track users attendance at sessions as a mechanism for organizations to award CE credits. Yapp's customer service is one of the best parts of working with the app. Their responses are always timely, and I like that it gives you information on how long it might be if it's going to be a little bit. They've also always seemed very open to suggestions and requests from users. Pros Yapp is incredibly user-friendly. Building it out took a little bit of exploring the first time, but I was quickly able to figure out how to build what my clients were expecting in an event app. The rich text pages allow for some good customization, and agenda and attendee uploads are streamlined and very easy to use. When the app is up and running and being used at an event, it seems to operate smoothly for attendees, and any updates I send populate quickly and easily. Cons Although the app does allow for some visual customization, especially on the rich text pages as mentioned above, it would be nice to have more customization options on some of the other page types. April 20, 2023 5.0 The directions for app set-up were very clear and covered most of our needs. We were able to get quick answers when needed from the chat support. The app made it much easier for attendees to choose and find the activities they wanted to participate in. We didn't know what to expect, since this was our first year using an app, but we were surprised and thrilled that almost half of our attendees/staff downloaded the app. It was well worth the time and money we invested and we will definitely use Yapp for our next event. Pros It took much less time than I expected to transfer the information from our web site to our new Yapp App. The clear directions and page templates made it easy to set up. Attendees loved the easy access on their phones, and used the app mostly to check our schedule of activities. Yapp allows the end user to create their own personal schedule. People also checked out vendor, presenter, and performer details on the app, and used the maps to find classrooms and vendor booths. Event management also found themselves referring to the app throughout the weekend. Cons I would like to have our own event icon on the user's home screen instead of the Yapp icon. We also found the "personal schedule" icon in the app was difficult to find, but once you found it was tremendously helpful. This was our first year using an app, and we would like to explore more of the announcement and social media features at our next event. Reason for choosing Yapp We heard about Yapp through another event. While we did research other app software, it was a clear choice to use Yapp when we saw how easy it was to set up. We've used it for 4-5 years now for our events and it's really been worth the money to all all event or trip info in one easy accessible location on your mobile app. The customer service has been great and the response time is within hours or a day. Pros Yapp mobile app is user friendly for the staff setting it up, efficient use of staff time, and helps manage info for your group at an event. I like that participant information can be uploaded all at once via CSV files, time saver! Cons We have to purchase a certain amount of apps in order to get the discount. We do not ever use all the apps but its cheaper to purchase the higher package. Maybe come up with a mid price discount or a discount for loyal customers? But this is a pricing suggestion, not a "like least" about software features. Pros I've worked on custom apps and customizable out of the box apps before that were monumentally more expensive and they paled in comparison to the ease of use and functionality that we found in the Yapp apps. We also had far more engagement with this app than our previous apps. My favorite thing is how you can design "pages" and move them around when you want to highlight one over another. Not being constrained to a traditional model where the developer chooses what they think is the way the app should be designed was really great for us. Cons I would like to see the social feeds brought back and expanded. When we signed on, Twitter was still being fed into the app, which would have been cool to see. We didn't think our attendee base would be on board with logging in to be able to share their social posts, but the ability to see our feeds would be really nice -- plus adding our feeds from Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram would have been an added bonus. Reason for choosing Yapp Cost was a huge factor for us. Since day one, the staff at Yapp App has been very supportive and very quick to respond to any of the questions I had in terms of using the app and the features it provided. The chat feature they have is great and they respond to you quite quickly. Also, it is very cost-effective for what you get and you can choose to add additional apps if you decide you need more. I also like that once you retire an app, you have the ability to archive it. Pros This app has allowed me to seamlessly communicate with the attendees of our annual leadership summit. It was easy to learn how to use this app. There is no coding involved and each section can be customized to your liking. You can load schedules, bios, pictures, PDF, videos, etc. It also has instant messaging that allows you to quickly push out notifications. I love that you can create your content and when you are ready, you can simply push the publish button. We have also used it for other teams as well not just for our leadership summit. Cons I wish you could add a registration feature to the app with the ability to cap the attendees at a certain number for each workshop being offered. Possibly pushing this feature out first, before the entire contents of the app are populated. Reason for choosing Yapp Our company hosted a leadership conference at a hotel in south Florida and as the event planner, they recommended we use the Yapp App that they were offering. January 5, 2023 5.0 We have used Yapp for several Conferences and user feedback is always very positive. Building the App and Admin is straight forward. Pros Ability to limit distribution to a list of users is a deal breaker for us. From an Admin perspective it is very easy to build, deploy and update Apps. The ability to import schedules, speakers, etc. from a CSV file is time saving and helpful. Cons So far, we have used Yapp exclusively for Conferences. While the App is great, the pricing model is unhelpful. On average, we build an App and use it for maybe 2 months (pre, during and post conference). However, we can't build a new app for the next conference within the same year without purchasing an additional App even though we are no longer using the App for the past conference. For us, it would be hugely useful if there were an option to license by Active Apps, i.e. be able to reuse the license when an App is archived, and/or have a monthly license. Would love to see some integrations with CRM, forms, etc. Reason for choosing Yapp I don't exactly remember but factors certainly included: 1) security, the ability to restrict access to a list of users, 2) unlimited users, i.e. not licensed per user, 3) real time updates to the App pushed to users, i.e. without reinstalling the App, 4) offline access to the App and likely more great features. Worth the money and can be used simply for data distribution and communication, or you can use more advanced features if desired. Compared to all the other enterprise systems out there, this is the only one that is anywhere affordable for a non-profit event. Cons A little more customization on the app pages designed for just content display would be nice, but the more custom you can get the more complex it gets. A few more built-in themes or styles for the app structure/layout would be nice, but again, keeping it simple can actually be a blessing. More dynamic linking of data would be helpful (being able to create instances of items and then link to it throughout the app rather than having to recreate the data on different pages).
