Engineer Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "creating an application in cmdbuild does not have to be a programmer" April 9, 2021 5.0 my experience using cmdbuild was so good. although my basic is informatics, but I am not very good at programming, this cmdbuild makes it easy for me to build asset management applications without having to understand more deeply in programming Pros what I like the most about cmdbuild is that I only need to configure it to create an asset management application. no need to be programming. just do the configuration so I can design the asset management application according to what I need. Cons What did I least about this software is that when I want to display a dashboard that matches my data, I have to first create a function in postgresql. The sample function provided from cmdbuild already exists, but it should be reproduced so that it can be used without having to create your own function. Expanding and changing it has been very easy. Pros The data model is incredibly flexible, fast and easy to set up. Cons A little hard to install if you are not familiar with it. Documentation on more advanced concepts are a little bit lacking, like how to set up your own context menus, forms, dashboards, advanced views and reports. It also doesn't come bundled with a lot of other bloated software. Switched from [moinAI](https://www.capterra.com/p/204798/moin-ai/)[Microsoft Excel](https://www.capterra.com/p/176574/Excel/) Excel did not have the relations, had no real multi user support and was prone to errors. Moinmoin also doesn't have an easy way to set up relations and is hard to use if you don't know markdown and wiki syntax. Review Source MD Michele D. SysAdmin Insurance Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great flexible and customizable tool for asset inventory" December 14, 2023 4.0 Overall, CMDBuild is a very flexible and fully customizable solution for keeping track of your assets and to even create custom dataflow and alerts. The data model on which is it build is extremely customizable, so that you can really achieve a fully tailored made solution for your company. The support is also very friendly and responsive. Pros CMDBuild is built on top of of a Postregres database that gives you incredible flexibility. Some features, e.g. version history of the changes on a single field level, are included out-of-the-box. Cons The GUI can be sometimes overwhelming given the huge amount of information that is sometimes displayed. It can all be customized, although it requires some time. Reason for choosing CMDBuild It is opensource, moreover the support took care of the installation and provided us also with some support hours. Review Source cV chris V. director Information Technology and Services Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Flexible solution for storing a wide variety of company data" July 24, 2019 4.0 The new 30/3.1 versie is very usable already but regularly bugs need to be fixed. New bugfix versions are release often. I am very pleased with the helpdesk: they are reponsive and helpfull, also they communicate with the developpers to get annoying bugs fixed quickly. Pros It is very easy to create forms with related database tables. Also the relationship between de tables may be defined in an easy way. The software is very flexible and customizable. I have not used half of all options. Cons Documentation is always a problem. Although quite some documentation is available, it lacks concrete instructions on how to get complex matters working. I like using the software overall once I was able to get it up and running. The continued updates are definitely welcome. Pros It is very robust and handles all of our asset management needs. It is incredibly powerful and flexible. There is a lot of use cases than can take advantage of using CMDBuild (and OpenMaint as well). It can be a little bit overwhelming at first contact as it is vast and feature-rich and extremely configurable. Cons It is not easy to install and configure. With previous version we struggled integrating it with BimServer and GIS. The documentation is sometimes not sufficiently clear or complete. Review Source FS Francesco S. Used the software for: ### "CMDBuild - great opensource assets management tool" February 22, 2017 5.0 A bit hard to install and configure but once it's done it goes very smooth. It's very robust and efficient. It's not too hard to configure my own reports (through an external tool - Jasper reports) and dashboards. Even creating a new workflow is doable, upon some support from the maintainer. Overall is a great tool, also because it's free to download and to use.
