While it took us about 45 days to fully integrate the software and maybe 60 days to feel like we were maximizing our investment I would say that this software was a great investment. Any time you make a switch in operating software you have to expect that there will be a ramp up period and should be prepared to utilized redundancies to avoid mistakes. We have had a very positive experience with this software all the way from the sales process to the updates that they release. Typical updates for other software almost always breaks something (i.e. QuickBooks) ... we have not experienced a single update that resulted in any negative affects. Through implementing this software we have reduced the amount of time it takes to create/enter new customers and jobs, streamlined our operations and communications from the field back to the office and visa versa, essentially eliminated "Days to Collect" improving cash flow, and most importantly improved employee efficiency including routing and customer database access.

I feel strongly the most important facet of any software like this, is that it actually works. This tool has been instrumental in helping us change the perceptions associated with how we provide service to our clients. Most everything has been positive, if I had anything to point out at all on the negative side it would be this: There have been lots of updates required where we have received no notice, only that things suddenly aren't working properly. When we would call in the pinpoint the issue, we were often told "You just need to do an update". We feel we should be let know in advance an update needs to happen, especially f not doing the update could impede business as usual. The only other bad thing is that it has to work with Quickbooks, which is an atrocious company to have to do business with. As their fees continue to increase and their service continues to devolve, we are being forced into other operating and accounting software which will de facto affect out ability to use Smart Service.

Pros

The scheduling of employees and tasks is great, work orders print in a easy to follow format that gets employees where they need to go.

Cons

Hard to navigate. Smart Service has a lot of great uses but is difficult to actually utilize all of its uses.

We purchased the smart service system while we are transitioning into going paperless. I love this system! Not only that, but it's easy to use and your customer service is great. They are always ready and willing to answer any questions that we may have.

Pros

I like how easy it is. I love how we are able to personalize it according to our company. I love how it comes with the ifleet system so that we can keep track of our technicians that are out in the field.

Cons

It was little hard to personalize it the way that we wanted, but customer service helped us step by step to get it how we wanted. I wouldn't say there are many other cons to it.

As i stated before this program (iFleet) was very easy to understand and use. This made implementing it with our technicians all the easier. The Smart Service side was a little more complex but even still the depth of the tracking is great. It shows our technicians in route, lists our customer locations and more. Thanks

What i liked most about this program was the ease of use as well as how efficiently it tracks our fleet, jobs, technicians, customers and more.

Cons

What i liked least about this program was that the inventory module is an add-on. If this module came with the program it would help immensely

Smart Service is a multifaceted business management tool. The software interface that has been created is easy to navigate and and well organized for the eye. The Smart Service customer service is amazing, from the operator reception technician to the IT techs. Smart Service training covers the broad range uses and functions of the software. The real magic is with the techs that provide the customer service! The techs take time with you to work all the kinks out, and even further they help to dial in Smart Services for the specific need of the company and users. If your company is looking to become more productive, this is the tool!

The Pros, I like the ease of scheduling, customer accounts and the history options to see previous services, the reports and reoccurring jobs make our quarterly based services a breeze. The Cons, I do not know if it is just our database or what, but it takes forever to open a job on the schedule. Seems like I spend a lot of time waiting for accounts to open, or jobs to open so I can edit. Also, when a job is open and you move it to another time without closing it out, everything you have written gets discarded, you have the option to copy to clipboard but it copies both the public and private job notes so we have to go back in and cut, delete, paste etc. Also, I wish there was a way to mass move jobs from one tech to another without having to go through each tech/day and move them over to the tech they belong on, When using reoccurring.

SmartService is a decent scheduling software. We only use it for scheduling. Other functions did not work for us due to some limitations in the software. Support, in my opinion, is somewhat expensive for the level of support you get. I rarely call, but when I do, I never get to speak to someone when I call. A "call back" is required and the speed at which the call is returned varies. Upgrades are included with the yearly "maintenance" so this may be the reason for the somewhat expensive cost but to date, the upgrades are mostly bug fixes, at least from what I can see. Reporting is severely lacking, to the point that I only use a couple of the reports to "troubleshoot". Our primary decision for selecting SmartService was because it integrated with QuickBooks and required no double entry of customer information for scheduling.

I think Skip had a total of 5 employees when we started using Smart Service. At the time, we had already signed up for a competitors software package, but I was unhappy with it's difficulty of use and lack of some features. I saw an ad for Smart Service, called them, and made an appointment for a demo. I saw right away that Smart Service could do the things I wanted done in a database, and do so without a lot of complexity. I really like how it is linked to Quickbooks so that invoices are created in Quickbooks and receivables are tracked in Quickbooks. A lot of other software claims to be linked to Quickbooks also, but you find that you have to make a "lump sum" journal entry into Quickbooks, so customers are not broken out by transaction. It is a great program that I would highly recommend to any service business out there.

No more paper! Real-time, helps free up more time. IFleet, nice!

Pros

Being paperless! Real-time! Helping us all get on the same page, (despite those who do things they're own way!) Use of IFleet!

Cons

Still more complicated, than necessary, in that some things are not clearly defined as to how to go about getting things set-up as needed, with-out customer support. Does not have all the aspects needed to get the reports we need, such as demographics.

I love this software and I think it is user-friendly, intuitive and versatile. I have used the customer service many times and I have not had a bad experience, on the contrary, every time has been absolutely awesome. Its like those guys are never in a bad mood and ready to help you figure things out.

The ease of use, and the top-notch customer service

Cons

Creating reports is a little complicated. If I ever have to create a new report, I usually call in for someone to walk me through it.

I worked with the owner and general manager to choose the program that would help us bring everything together for our employees and customers. We wanted a way to smarter not harder. We found it and it is Smart Serve. I also am pleased with the training available and also the tech support has been great!

Smart Service has a great customer support team, they are always extremely helpful. We find the system to be a bit complicated and "touchy". For instance, if you need to change appointment notes - it doesn't automatically update on iFleet side. And our technician entered an amount on a form as "1." instead of "1.0" and that messed up our iFleet and SmartService communication (way too touchy!) There are so many functions to learn. Overall it works, but learning how to correctly operate this system is quite the task....

We have had the software since 2009. We have used other packages that were suppose to integrate with Quickbook's. They did, but with multiple steps which included being in single user mode. Smart Service is an instant connection, no matter what mode you are in. Like any software, their could be some upgrades to make our job easier. After going through numerous demonstrations we found Smart Service to be the software for us. Our office personal have no problem in understanding how to use the software. When we have called in for support, our issues have been resolved. On the occasion that the support staff are busy, we get a return phone call within an hour. We have found all of hte support people to be well educated on the software.

If you have existing software and want to use this as an interface don't do it, it may work fine on standalone but not integration. They will tell you it will work and then when it doesn't they will try and have you change your ways to make it work. Once you realize it's not going to work it will be too late to get your money back then you will not hear from them again.

Work well with our QBs program, nice that it easily transfers info to QBs, it's not exactly self-explanatory, I've had to call customer service many times to get an explanation of how to do things, on the up side of that the customer service is fantastic and always gets my issues resolved, except one time when I accidentally deleted 5 months worth of schedule with no warning from the program and no way to retrieve the lost information. The other issue I have is how difficult it is to remove some of the selections on drop down lists that were entered by accident. Even after following the step to do that some of them are still there. Other than a few glitches like that it works pretty well.

The features it offers for the field staff are great, it allows for tracking real time and also be able to generate pay role. It is very user friendly.

Cons

i would advice that a manual for this program can help increase the rate at which users understand every feature in the software, so that field users can quickly learn how to use the software.

We have been using this program since 2009 and have had a very good experience. While there were some issues with the program over the years , they were quickly addressed and resolved. The company has always been open to our requests for changes to the program. We know that if we let them know what isn't working for us in the program, that we may well see a change in the future or they will advise us on a better way to do things. This Program is great for scheduling, invoicing , tracking, marketing and combined with IFleet for helping our teams in the field. The postings on YouTube are a great help with training and providing new ideas on how to use the program for even more benefit.

I have used Smart Service for almost 9 years. Over the years I have seen several improvements and their product just works for us. I run 18 service vehicles in 2 locations and am very happy with the product. I have also looked at several other platforms to stay "up" with newer programs and I have not found anything that worked nearly this well especially when you tie all of the pieces together which include Quickbooks integration, Office scheduling and mobile technician paperless systems (ifleet) Over the years Smart Service has had consistent and reliable customer service that always calls back, has always been professional and they have always been extremely helpful.

When we first purchased this product, we chose it mainly for the ease of routing and moving jobs. We have now been using Smart Service for over a year and what this program is capable of doing is much more than what we first intended. Once you get the hang of it, it is quite easy to navigate but in the meantime, the customer service is great when we have questions. Wait time is minimal and the customer reps are always willing to help. Initial training was dismal so I recommend requesting Andrew ... he is the best! He is knowledgeable about the program and will surprise you with all that Smart Service is capable of doing to run your business efficiently.
