### "Coding for people who don't code"

December 5, 2019

4.0

AppSheet was great for implementing small applications in the workplace, meant to be used by one person. Once the ideas started to take off, there was a lot of limitations I ran into, including price. At that point I found it more lacerative too look into other solutions and migrate my apps to another platform.

Pros

AppSheet is an incredible piece of software that easily integrates with Google Sheets, Excel, Salesforce, and others. Its GUI is very user friendly, and allows new/amature coders to create full web-apps with minimal knowledge. Very easy to use, and produces apps quickly.

Cons

Price-point, and bugs. Knowing the number of variables AppSheet has to account for in any app, there are still certain kinks that need to be worked out. Also, AppSheet is free, unless you really want to utilize all of its features. Unfortunately, once you start getting into apps that require multiple users, or creating workflows, then you start paying per user, or a tier based price structure per app. With competition quickly rising, their prices are easily beat by competitors like PowerApps.

Alternatives considered

[Betty Blocks](https://www.capterra.com/p/158043/Betty-Blocks/)[PowerApps](https://www.capterra.com/p/128524/PowerApps/)

Reason for choosing AppSheet

I initially chose AppSheets for its simplicity and free tier applications, but switched once the apps became more involved.

### "A great start for using no-code in place of siloed business apps"

May 13, 2022

4.0

Overall i'm very pleased, it's easy to "make as you go" which i think is important when you're trying to gradually transition and streamline without investing lots of time doing it.

Pros

Appsheet has allowed me to replace my high-cost crm with a lower-cost solution that is also quicker to use and customise.

Cons

Some more design customisation would be great, Appsheet has allowed me to replace my high-cost crm with a lower-cost solution, but it doesn't look as nice. It would also be useful for there to be more of a streamlined navigation with databases and storage in Google Cloud Platform, given they are both google. A free-tier or low cost SQL database would be a great addition to the product.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing AppSheet

Appsheet is a better fit for creating no-code apps for daily business use to replace other siloed business apps. Trying to extend or customise a crm to achieve the same degree of flexibility is time consuming and expensive. The other solutions I considered were more appropriate for using as a database (rather than a no-code layer) or for streamlining single business processes through no-code development, rather than developing a full no-code app.

[Smartsheet](https://www.capterra.com/p/79104/Smartsheet/)

Smartsheets pricing is opaque and you can't easily test or estimate the cost of add-ons which are required to reach the same level of functionality as appsheet in terms of no code app development.

### "Very simplistic and limited app design tool"

November 18, 2023

3.0

I was desappointed by AppSheet and I would recommend Mincrosoft Power Apps instead anytime.

Pros

It is very easy to setup and it is very easy to create a small web app.

Cons

There is almost no personalization options available on this tool. There is no way to create a minimum of complexity in the app.

Alternatives considered

### "A solid app experience, not without its pain points"

April 15, 2021

4.0

AppSheet filled a niche for us and we're satisfied with its performance. We have confidence that it can do what we need, and we look forward to usability improvements in the future.

Pros

AppSheet performs well and is reasonably quick for our users. I love that we can make the app public so users don't have to sign in. We're using it embedded in a SharePoint site, so the only users who see it are already authenticated. The app builder starts you out with some reasonably good suggestions for your data, and there are a lots of options for display. In general, the Google Material Design UI is pleasant.

Cons

Some column types aren't useful in certain situations. The worst part of AppSheet in our experience, however, has been the need to recreate custom formatting for each column in a table. Since this table has hundreds of columns, we really wish we could copy and past or duplicate styling.

Switched from

[Microsoft Power Apps](https://www.capterra.com/p/228526/Microsoft-Power-Apps/)

PowerApps (running off a SharePoint list) was very slow and didn't allow as efficient a display of a table.

My overall experience with AppSheet was smooth and helpful for creating apps without coding, its very convieient!

Pros

I like how easy it is to build app quickly with no code and individuals don't need to have any high programming skills.

Cons

Some features in AppSheet were a bit hard to understand at first, especially for beginners who doesn't have any prior experience related to this!

### "The Greatest Tool for Solving Niche Business Data Problems"

October 17, 2023

4.0

I LOVE APPSHEET. It has become an essential part of my business toolkit. It's easy to start but learning to build apps that can do lots of complicated things does take time (at least for now). The community is great and if you're willing to stick with the process of learning how the tool works, you'll be richly rewarded. If you're someone that is comfortable using formula tools in spreadsheets, you'll do fine with Appsheet but I think anyone can learn to build killer apps using this tool.

Pros

I have found Appsheet to be one of the best tools for solving the annoying gaps that exist in most off the shelf business software for small businesses. After working at the same company for 22 years and being disappointed by the limitations of most 'off the shelf' business software programs, I started using app sheet as a way to supplement those tools, while still relying heavily on spreadsheets. During my tenure there, the \[sensitive content hidden\] would push back on my request to build more complicated apps to automate and structure all the spreadsheet tools we were using. Then, when I left and they were faced with trying to manage my cobbled together system, they asked if I could help and I was able to say that the best bet was not for me to train people how to use that system but rather really invest in building more robust application based tools. 6 months into the journey and the list of possible apps keeps growing. Here are the biggest pro's as I see it:Easy to get started, especially if you're already using Google SheetsGreat community with lots of support when you have a problemVery powerful capabilities, once you figure out how to use it. Pace of upgrades and improvements seems to have picked up since Google purchased it. Data tables can all be google sheets stored in the companies google drive. This was a big selling point when I was trying to convince my former employer to invest in bigger apps because the data would always be theirs and always be accessible.

Cons

1\. The process of turning all the cool data into printed or .pdf reports is relatively difficult when compared to every other aspect of using the tool. 2. You'll get addicted to building apps and start saying "I could build an app for that" in almost any business conversation you have. (and in personal ones too!)

Reason for choosing AppSheet

Integration with Google Docs probably biggest reason, but that was 5-6 years ago.

### "No need to be complicated for app creation"

October 7, 2022

4.0

Very good and fun, I can make applications quickly and cheaply, especially if I convert applications from excel or spreadsheets. I can use AppSheet as a prototype for large projects, and the primary choice for intermediate or conversion projects.

Pros

Easy, cheap, and very fast in the development process until it can actually be used. Have a sophisticated system without having to create the system itself.

Cons

Limited in terms of UI/UX which makes it look clunky and boring when displayed to the user. The capacity of application users is also not clear, thus giving limitations to application makers to use AppSheet for large projects or not.

Reason for choosing AppSheet

Because it's made by Google.

### "Great Tool to create small apps"

April 19, 2022

4.0

I have created about 6 applications with Appsheet. As i kept on developing more apps, the time taken started going down drastically. Since my projects focus more on quick creation over more efficiency, appsheet suits my needs perfectly. as long as i am not creating a complex application, there are no issues with this app.

Pros

1\. The App runs on any type of database at the backend. It is compatible with SQLs from different cloud platforms and even google sheets. 2. Due to the template support, after a little experience with the appsheet, you can easily create an app under 6 hours. 3. Since this is a mulit-platform tool, it works as both Website and an Android app.

Cons

1\. The Application is a low-code platform with high level syntax. This makes the application slow to use. If the application complexity increases, the time it takes to finish certain task increases non-linearly. 2. appsheet provides limited customization. which means there is a chance you will run into problems that are just unsolvable with this program. 3. Since this is a web based application, This UI feels a bit less responsive.

### "AppSheet"

January 25, 2023

5.0

Appsheet enables us to build semantic stellar applications that help us to better improve our development skills and broaden them for more important opportunities.Google makes this experience amazing with Appsheet. I highly recommend it if you're a newbie or an advanced developer seeking for an already-done-for-your solution to jumpstart your projects or clients.

Pros

Appsheet is one of the finest app development solutions we've tested so far. Google makes it completely enthusiastic for non-coders to quickly build and deploy web-based apps.It has a variety of ready-made templates to kickstart a project with no hassles. It's pretty simple to use and the pricing plans are also very very low. This is also a better means to leverage app-building skills for new aspirants. The system supports a few in-house integrations (Google's) which smartly coordinates the overall development experience and saves a ton of stress.I prefer Appsheet to many other no-code App development solutions for its intuitive UI and the narrow and flawless experience it offers. No one loves junk lines of code anyway.

Cons

As per my observations, the platform is supported in many languages---This is already a barrier for other countries that are not of the English language world to cope with it.I believe the world would be better or still, best if digital evolution is spread all around it.

### "Solid tool for no-code/low-code development"

May 20, 2024

4.0

Pros

AppSheet is an excellent tool for product managers seeking to create custom applications without coding. Its intuitive, no-code platform enables users to build and deploy apps quickly, enhancing productivity and enabling rapid prototyping. The integration with various data sources such as Google Sheets, Excel, and SQL databases is powerful.

Cons

AppSheet's no-code approach may come with limitations for more complex app requirements, where the lack of advanced customization and coding options might be restrictive.

### "fastest way to create and launch a simple app."

December 7, 2022

5.0

Pros

1\. There are numerous databases with which to connect. Personally, I've utilized Google Sheets and Google Cloud MySQL. It does, however, also handle databases from other cloud services, such as Azure, AWS, or Oracle. 2. This application's development process is so quick that anyone can create an app in under 12 hours after gaining sufficient experience (developing about five apps). 3. This app is cross-platform, which means it functions on both Android and Web browsers. 4. It also includes built-in methods for sending emails, notifications, and other types of messages.

Cons

1\. Being a web-based platform, this one feels clumsy to use when developing. There is always a persistent lag that is detectable. They have made great strides in this area, but still fall short of a true software. 2. Google Appsheet's UI Design does not offer a lot of flexibility and is most helpful when creating business cycle apps. Nevertheless, you can undoubtedly create simple apps of any kind. The point is that it is not highly adaptable, and you will probably encounter problems that prevent you from creating an app because of platform restrictions. 3. When compared to apps made with programming languages, this app performs decently. This app will be useful if you're making a simple app.

### "Great for starting out with app development and exploring potential ideas"

February 14, 2023

5.0

As I learned more about developing an app in AppSheet I became more knowledgeable in how to add different features and workflows. We thankfully didn't need a quick, robust solution built up immediately and we were able to play with it on our own over the course of about two years to eventually get to what we needed.

Pros

I really liked starting off with AppSheet to just explore some options for a solution we needed. It was very beginner-friendly and allowed me to design a concept and then test it out without investing a lot of money for a professional custom-coded app.

Cons

The workflows and automations can be a bit tricky to get set up. Creating user limitations has not been super easy and I'd like to see user profiles that set permissions for different user groups.

### "A platform that takes the tedium out of building mobile apps"

January 14, 2019

5.0

Launching the app and aligning it to end-user demands and expectations has not been a challenge at all. Since it is a dev+hosting platform, things are very much under my control. Helpful features like cloning an entire app make discovery and troubleshooting painless. More importantly, you pay only for the actual number of users!

Pros

For non-techies, with some basic understanding of application software and their usecases and essential database awareness, Appsheet lets you offer practical solutions very quickly and cost-effectively. I have not seen any other platform that makes it so dumbed down.

Cons

There are limitations that are quite possible for a platform that is still evolving. But, nothing so much that will force you to look for alternatives.

i'm amazed!!!! Stunned!

Pros

Would like to have more debugging tools to help correct programming. would be helpful to have partial results on expressions, (eg.) if(Lookup(Useremail(),"Colaboradores","Email","Role")="SuperAdmin",Select(Folha de Caixa\[Caixa\_Key\],\[Colaborador\_Key\]=\[Email\],True), Select(Folha de Caixa\[Caixa\_Key\],\[Colaborador\_Key\]=\[\_THISROW\].\[Email\],True) )On this expression it would be amazing if we could "on mouse over" see partial results from the expression to help debug.

Cons

Nothing really important comes to mind, all i need is more tutorials from Youtube :)

I work in a K12 education context, used to be a teacher for 40+ years. While I am nearing my pension, I have had an enormous amount of fun building this app.

Pros

The ease of use. No coding required. You can gradually build your app and learn while doing this. I found there was a gradual learning curve that met my needs and my capability.

Cons

Sometimes, it takes a long to synchronize. The way to correct mistakes that you make is not always obvious and you will need help. But on the other hand, the community is large enough and very helpful, so you will never have these problems for a longer period.

### "The mobile app DIY platform I returned to."

March 20, 2016

5.0

When I was first looking for a mobile app development platform, I wanted something simple to use but powerful enough to allow me to completely customize the app to the vision I had in my head. When I first started using AppSheet it was only 7 months after they went live; at that point it was still in it's early stages and experiencing many growing pains. I found myself running into the limitations of the platform at that time and was frustrated enough I began looking around for another solution. After playing around for a few weeks, I found myself constantly going back to AppSheet and playing around more and more. I'd find a limitation on another platform that didn't exist in AppSheet, I'd get frustrated that I'd have to learn a TON of stuff for one platform and return to AppSheet again because of it's ease of use. So after weeks of looking around I realized that AppSheet was the platform I was looking for and I just had to find ways to accomplish the goals I had. Fast forward 10 months and you wouldn't believe the platform was the same. The AppSheet team publishes so many updates (almost daily) that it's hard to keep up! And their support is better than any I've seen. They've got an online community where you can actually get answers from the developers themselves. Got an issue, one of the programmers will take a look at your app and tell you what's wrong. Confused about how to get something to work, the community is filled with users who're very knowledgeable about the platform and are always willing to help a fellow user out. In the 9 months that I've been using AppSheet I've seen multiple ideas I've suggested become a reality; that's how important their user feedback is to them.... it drives the future of the platform. AppSheet is the best of both worlds; it's simple enough that anyone can make a simple app in minutes with NO coding involved, yet complex enough that you can build an entire business management system from end to end on the platform. If you're looking for a mobile app DIY platform to create a solution for a problem you have... AppSheet really is the one to choose.

### "I was looking for a solution and this checked all the boxes."

August 27, 2021

5.0

I was tasked with a specific challenge and after scowering the Internet and testing similar spreadsheet-to-app solutions that were simply frustrating, this platform fit the challenge and allowed me to expand my solution with automation features and other nifty hacks that really made my solution sing.

Pros

The learning curve has not been steep for engaging with this platform. I loved how it pulls quickly from Google Sheets and updates /syncs data rapidly.

Cons

Pages are difficult to really design as the platform is highly reliant on pulling from the spreadsheet. I would like more flexibility in laying out page views and organizing the menu structures.

Reason for choosing AppSheet

Other products were a challenge to get started.

### "AppSheet is a nice way to build custom apps using your google spreadsheet data"

October 14, 2019

5.0

Nice interface and features. The app for mobile devices also seemed to work well.

Pros

I love that i was able to build a small app for personal use that pulled data from a couple of my google spreadsheets. There were great features that showed that appsheet designers understand the importance of data integrity and included features and settings that could allow someone who wants to try to build an interface for their spreadsheet. i like that there was some syncing features so that you could edit data even when you did not have mobile reception on your smartphone with the app installed.

Cons

Like anything of this nature it does require to practice and playing to understand the features. To a complete newbie, they may not understand some of the protections you need to build in in order to protect your spreadsheet data especially when multiple users might edit things, but the settings to do so are in the app. It is also a lot simpler than many other no code options and could be a great way for someone to build some personal data tools to make their life easier.
