### "Coding for people who don't code"

December 5, 2019

4.0

AppSheet was great for implementing small applications in the workplace, meant to be used by one person. Once the ideas started to take off, there was a lot of limitations I ran into, including price. At that point I found it more lacerative too look into other solutions and migrate my apps to another platform.

Pros

AppSheet is an incredible piece of software that easily integrates with Google Sheets, Excel, Salesforce, and others. Its GUI is very user friendly, and allows new/amature coders to create full web-apps with minimal knowledge. Very easy to use, and produces apps quickly.

Cons

Price-point, and bugs. Knowing the number of variables AppSheet has to account for in any app, there are still certain kinks that need to be worked out. Also, AppSheet is free, unless you really want to utilize all of its features. Unfortunately, once you start getting into apps that require multiple users, or creating workflows, then you start paying per user, or a tier based price structure per app. With competition quickly rising, their prices are easily beat by competitors like PowerApps.

Alternatives considered

[Betty Blocks](https://www.capterra.com/p/158043/Betty-Blocks/)[PowerApps](https://www.capterra.com/p/128524/PowerApps/)

Reason for choosing AppSheet

I initially chose AppSheets for its simplicity and free tier applications, but switched once the apps became more involved.

### "Stong and Secure"

May 18, 2026

5.0

My overall experince with Appsheet is very positive. Support is great but I find that using Gemini to help build make the experience even better. Security is strong too.

Pros

Appshett is very cost effective. The initial price is very low and with a small number of users, it is quite inexpensive. The design tool is ,imited but for the right application, it is more than enough. The custimization options are limited, but again, for a simple app it is more than enough.

Cons

The part I liked least is that some tools and setting are dificult to find. However, like anything, once you figure it out, it is quite easy.

Reason for choosing AppSheet

### "Very simplistic and limited app design tool"

November 18, 2023

3.0

I was desappointed by AppSheet and I would recommend Mincrosoft Power Apps instead anytime.

Pros

It is very easy to setup and it is very easy to create a small web app.

Cons

There is almost no personalization options available on this tool. There is no way to create a minimum of complexity in the app.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing AppSheet

Zoho Creator was very expensive in comparison to Google and Microsoft.

Switched from

[Microsoft Power Apps](https://www.capterra.com/p/228526/Microsoft-Power-Apps/)

The Microsoft was too expansive so I decided to try the Google WorkSpace and AppSheet tools instead, but I quickly returned to the Microsoft 365 tool.

### "A great start for using no-code in place of siloed business apps"

May 13, 2022

4.0

Overall i'm very pleased, it's easy to "make as you go" which i think is important when you're trying to gradually transition and streamline without investing lots of time doing it.

Pros

Appsheet has allowed me to replace my high-cost crm with a lower-cost solution that is also quicker to use and customise.

Cons

Some more design customisation would be great, Appsheet has allowed me to replace my high-cost crm with a lower-cost solution, but it doesn't look as nice. It would also be useful for there to be more of a streamlined navigation with databases and storage in Google Cloud Platform, given they are both google. A free-tier or low cost SQL database would be a great addition to the product.

Alternatives considered

[Retool](https://www.capterra.com/p/186115/Retool/)[Rows](https://www.capterra.com/p/219587/Rows/)[Salesforce Sales Cloud](https://www.capterra.com/p/61368/Salesforce/)

Reason for choosing AppSheet

Appsheet is a better fit for creating no-code apps for daily business use to replace other siloed business apps. Trying to extend or customise a crm to achieve the same degree of flexibility is time consuming and expensive. The other solutions I considered were more appropriate for using as a database (rather than a no-code layer) or for streamlining single business processes through no-code development, rather than developing a full no-code app.

Switched from

[Smartsheet](https://www.capterra.com/p/79104/Smartsheet/)

Smartsheets pricing is opaque and you can't easily test or estimate the cost of add-ons which are required to reach the same level of functionality as appsheet in terms of no code app development.

### "Great tool for easily and quickly building product MVPs"

February 5, 2022

4.0

Appsheet has been of limitless use to me and my team over the past year. The ease of setting up accounts on free use terms has made it my go-to candidate testing tool for assessing their ability to quickly understand project concepts and execute them. Thanks to Appsheet, the quality of our tech team recruitments have improved significantly; because it allows us to do a lot more practical live tests.

Pros

The best thing about Appsheet is the app setup process. Simply by creating your spreadsheet data with all the basic designations you want in your app, the system automatically translates it into a functioning app. First time i tried it, I really couldn’t believe it worked. One great feature I love about building with Appsheet is also that you are able to make changes to base data structure right from the editor without needing to go directly into the source spreadsheet.

Cons

I didn’t like that I couldn’t set up a user sign up set up independent of the third party options available for signing up via google, etc.

We eventually moved on to another software because it was difficult to identify specific issues causing failure in re publishing changes.

Cons

Does not have option to share leads with individual app users. Not very easy to create, help videos were old.

### "A solid app experience, not without its pain points"

April 15, 2021

4.0

AppSheet filled a niche for us and we're satisfied with its performance. We have confidence that it can do what we need, and we look forward to usability improvements in the future.

Pros

AppSheet performs well and is reasonably quick for our users. I love that we can make the app public so users don't have to sign in. We're using it embedded in a SharePoint site, so the only users who see it are already authenticated. The app builder starts you out with some reasonably good suggestions for your data, and there are a lots of options for display. In general, the Google Material Design UI is pleasant.

Cons

Some column types aren't useful in certain situations. The worst part of AppSheet in our experience, however, has been the need to recreate custom formatting for each column in a table. Since this table has hundreds of columns, we really wish we could copy and past or duplicate styling.

Switched from

[Microsoft Power Apps](https://www.capterra.com/p/228526/Microsoft-Power-Apps/)

PowerApps (running off a SharePoint list) was very slow and didn't allow as efficient a display of a table.

### "Good low-code tool but expensive"

May 26, 2022

3.0

Overall, AppSheet is a great low-code tool. But the price point is just too high and for that reason it's harder to scale out to more devs and users.

Pros

It's convenient to use in developing internal tools.

Cons

The price is too high considering the many alternatives available out there.

### "No need to be complicated for app creation"

October 7, 2022

4.0

Very good and fun, I can make applications quickly and cheaply, especially if I convert applications from excel or spreadsheets. I can use AppSheet as a prototype for large projects, and the primary choice for intermediate or conversion projects.

Pros

Easy, cheap, and very fast in the development process until it can actually be used. Have a sophisticated system without having to create the system itself.

Cons

Limited in terms of UI/UX which makes it look clunky and boring when displayed to the user. The capacity of application users is also not clear, thus giving limitations to application makers to use AppSheet for large projects or not.

Reason for choosing AppSheet

Because it's made by Google.

My overall experience with AppSheet was smooth and helpful for creating apps without coding, its very convieient!

Pros

I like how easy it is to build app quickly with no code and individuals don't need to have any high programming skills.

Cons

### "fastest way to create and launch a simple app."

December 7, 2022

5.0

Pros

1\. There are numerous databases with which to connect. Personally, I've utilized Google Sheets and Google Cloud MySQL. It does, however, also handle databases from other cloud services, such as Azure, AWS, or Oracle. 2. This application's development process is so quick that anyone can create an app in under 12 hours after gaining sufficient experience (developing about five apps). 3. This app is cross-platform, which means it functions on both Android and Web browsers. 4. It also includes built-in methods for sending emails, notifications, and other types of messages.

Cons

1\. Being a web-based platform, this one feels clumsy to use when developing. There is always a persistent lag that is detectable. They have made great strides in this area, but still fall short of a true software. 2. Google Appsheet's UI Design does not offer a lot of flexibility and is most helpful when creating business cycle apps. Nevertheless, you can undoubtedly create simple apps of any kind. The point is that it is not highly adaptable, and you will probably encounter problems that prevent you from creating an app because of platform restrictions. 3. When compared to apps made with programming languages, this app performs decently. This app will be useful if you're making a simple app.

### "The fastest way to make an App"

May 21, 2022

4.0

This app was exactly what I need.

Pros

I liked the fact AppSheet can make an app in just a few minutes from a databank contained in Google Sheets. The whole process is very easy and you do not need a high level of coding to do it.

Cons

Most of the time the template from AppSheets will not be entirely useful to your needs, so be aware that often you will need to customize the product. Thus, what I like least is the small sample of templates available for starters.

### "Create almost everything"

November 4, 2019

5.0

Great in all aspects. It helped us to grow much faster by gaining new cliens through rapid development and workflow automation.

Pros

Easy to learn Resourceful for learning, easy to find the required answer in help center and community page. Very much customer oriented. Samples apps are very simple to learn each functionality. Very responsive to customers.

Cons

UX: Web view; It would be great if the look of Web browser view is improved. It would be much easier faster for new creators to Learn if there are some sample apps that run in full functionalities and integrate with "In-App-Tutorial". Less focus on developing financial apps although there are some mini budgeting app.

### "Appsheet brings a great tool to your development team. Codeless software is the way to go."

May 9, 2023

5.0

Great experience can create complex Apps in short time.

Pros

Easy to use. Easy to visualise the interconnectivity been data. Production of simple and useful apps are rapid to develop and deploy.

Cons

Only issue I have is with selling the products. The approach and methodology have never been clear. There should be examples shown or cheat sheets explained so you know what costs you can allow when selling the product. It would also be great to display linear assets on the maps rather than use just a little coloured coded pointer to the assets.

Reason for choosing AppSheet

Other products seemed a bit complex and cluncky with their approach.

### "Solid tool for no-code/low-code development"

May 20, 2024

4.0

Pros

AppSheet is an excellent tool for product managers seeking to create custom applications without coding. Its intuitive, no-code platform enables users to build and deploy apps quickly, enhancing productivity and enabling rapid prototyping. The integration with various data sources such as Google Sheets, Excel, and SQL databases is powerful.

Cons

AppSheet's no-code approach may come with limitations for more complex app requirements, where the lack of advanced customization and coding options might be restrictive.

### "The mobile app DIY platform I returned to."

March 20, 2016

5.0

When I was first looking for a mobile app development platform, I wanted something simple to use but powerful enough to allow me to completely customize the app to the vision I had in my head. When I first started using AppSheet it was only 7 months after they went live; at that point it was still in it's early stages and experiencing many growing pains. I found myself running into the limitations of the platform at that time and was frustrated enough I began looking around for another solution. After playing around for a few weeks, I found myself constantly going back to AppSheet and playing around more and more. I'd find a limitation on another platform that didn't exist in AppSheet, I'd get frustrated that I'd have to learn a TON of stuff for one platform and return to AppSheet again because of it's ease of use. So after weeks of looking around I realized that AppSheet was the platform I was looking for and I just had to find ways to accomplish the goals I had. Fast forward 10 months and you wouldn't believe the platform was the same. The AppSheet team publishes so many updates (almost daily) that it's hard to keep up! And their support is better than any I've seen. They've got an online community where you can actually get answers from the developers themselves. Got an issue, one of the programmers will take a look at your app and tell you what's wrong. Confused about how to get something to work, the community is filled with users who're very knowledgeable about the platform and are always willing to help a fellow user out. In the 9 months that I've been using AppSheet I've seen multiple ideas I've suggested become a reality; that's how important their user feedback is to them.... it drives the future of the platform. AppSheet is the best of both worlds; it's simple enough that anyone can make a simple app in minutes with NO coding involved, yet complex enough that you can build an entire business management system from end to end on the platform. If you're looking for a mobile app DIY platform to create a solution for a problem you have... AppSheet really is the one to choose.

Appsheet is one from many DIY apps that easy to use and very sufficient to my needs. I use this app to record daily sales report from our salesman, and also to monitor daily market. I work in a Telecommunication company, and this app helped me to understand the products from our competitors based on what our sales reported with this app. I'm no expert in "IT-things", but this app is very easy to use actually and what you really need to build your own app is just simple formula from excel. And you can get the data easily because it's synchronized with Google Drive & Docs.

Pros

\- Easy to use - Appsheet's Team got very fast response about our complains / errors with the app - Provides "more-than-enough" features - and many more...

### "Excellent app for people who are not programmers"

July 20, 2017

5.0

We have other applications that are built by programmers and this is an easier application to adjust and improve upon quickly.

Pros

This is a great way to develop applications that work for your specific need. There are many options of functions that can be performed in this application, and there is a low cost to rolling the apps out. They are constantly updating the features of the application making it more user friendly. It is really great that it works of a database in google, which gives it a very stable platform and is easy to switch between users in the app and administrators who may need to cull the data.

Cons

If you are not in the programming world some of the functions are a little more complicated to use, and take some trial and error.
