Pros I have not actually implemented the software for our parish yet... I just met with the business manager of the parish along with the IT guy and presented why I think this will be good for our parish and got the green light to get started. Cons I can't really say yet as I am just now getting this up and running for our parish. Reason for choosing Flocknote It seems that Flocknote is very user friendly for low tech individuals like myself. Marketing & Events Coordinator Religious Institutions Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Flocknote Review" February 4, 2019 4.0 Pros Very easy to use with a variety of customization options (without being to overwhelming or robust) which allows to send out newsletters with a high-quality presentation. Fast and easy to use - looks great on desktop AND mobile. Cons Functionality for pulling reports and lists is very limited. Because of the "group" and "subgroup" options, it makes removing "unsubscribes" very difficult. I use this on a diocese level and want to be extra careful about requests to unsubscribes (in order to avoid pestering recipients). Pros This is a great way to communicate when your a busy person verses calling or emailing since you can customize your message. Cons I'm not very computer savvy and it took me a long while before I got the hang of it. I don't feel that it is user friendly for a beginner. January 7, 2021 4.0 It’s ok seems like it should be simpler and easier to use. Pros It works, I use it to send out prayer requests and to approve membership to certain groups, but it is a little cumbersome to use. Cons When I get an email saying there is an approval request, I click the link and there is never anything there. If I go into the group at a later date, then I see the person as pending approval. When I send out the acts prayer request, I never get a copy even though I’m in the group? Whenever I have to do anything as an admin, I have to log in multiple times. The software is mostly user friendly, and the design is great. Once we implement it for the whole parish, it will be interesting to see the ways that it benefits our ministry. Cons There is a learning curve - especially about sending messages out. There still does seem to be a limited amount of email templates. It is really easy to setup initially. Creating members, groups, etc. was easily accomplished just using the help function. They have really well done tutorials to explore additional functions. Their support is outstanding and I felt like they put a lot of effort into making sure I was more than happy with what I received. Cons Not much to dislike. The one area that might could be made a little more intuitive to use is the email function. It is the one thing that I don't feel I am fully comfortable using. I don’t believe I’ll upgrade because of that. It’s also been a challenge to manipulate the options sent back to users when they sign up for flocknote. Still figuring that out after trying many times. " March 8, 2018 5.0 Sending information out fast with a text message. Pros I love that I can send information out from anywhere. I recently discovered the app and can now send out information in seconds to parents, faculty, grandparents and everyone under our schools name. Cons That we have to pay for each group we assign people in. It's easy to get started and they don't overcomplicate there task of communication. Cons Text limits. It was just a challenge to fit all I wanted to say in the character limit of a text message. We have used another email provider for years, but now we can keep everyone alert with FlockNotes phone messaging as well as emails. We are very pleased and the response from our contacts has been very positive. Replies are received instantly and tracking is easy to access. THat is good because I am in my 50's and my technology experience goes back to programming in Basic and Fortran and it has the ease of Basic and the bells and whistles of the 21st century. Pros I like that I can easily send something out to my group in a quick minute Cons Maybe I am doing it incorrectly but I would like there to be an either/or option for sending text vs. email. I use the email choice and I know that those who only have a phone number on file get a text but I would like those who prefer to get texts but also have their email listed to get a text. You mentioned you wished the text message length was higher and I wanted to explain that the primary reason for this is so we can ensure that every cell carrier delivers each text as one single message. Beyond 160, some carriers will cut off extra characters into a second text, which would, for example, break any links that you included or just generally cause confusion. What you can do is send multiple text messages and put footnotes (1/3, 2/3, 3/3) at the end of your text so that members know that there are multiple parts to your text. Pros Flocknote was easy to understand the program and very easy to get members to sign up with. The customer service is awesome if I did have questions and the Flock Help page and video's also helped a lot. The most positive thing of Flocknote is the knowing that the messages are getting out to the people without being held up by email issues. So far this has been awesome. Cons Nothing comes to mind at this point. We are still somewhat new with it but everything is working the way we want it to. Cons The icons are somewhat confusing. What they mean and where they are located. The cost is our big tripping point only because we are not a parish, but a free standing social action ministry. Cons I would prefer a set number to Test to Join in a package form versus having to pay for every single additional text to join. Similiar to how there's a tier for the payement as people increase.
