Pros: There isn't anything about this that can be rated as a pro...

Perhaps being resource light as it only requires plugins to work

Cons: It does not do what its suppose to do. The lack of features like anti-screengrab, print to file, or thin client support makes it really stupid.

There is also a need to be online as the need for internet connectivity makes it not very usable.

Vendor Response

by FileOpen Systems on June 06, 2018

The FileOpen software operates in three environments: installed on the desktop, via browser plug-ins, and via native HTML. Each of these has a different functional profile, i.e. not all features are available in all modes. There is at least one configuration in which the FileOpen Client *does* prevent screen capture, *does* prevent print-to-file, *does* enable viewing (in the browser) on any client system and *does* support Offline Permission. Our support team is happy to help configure a free evaluation subscription according to your needs.

Pros: The promise of what it offers is the best thing about FileOpen

Cons: The system is clunky, they claim that their products work readily in an iOS environment but they don't and their customer support is non-existent (I had two separate help desk questions both times they took two weeks to get back to me and both times it was a sales rep who followed up and not a tech/helpdesk person).

Overall: My experience with FileOpen was deeply disappointing and very expensive.
