Director Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Great Alternative to Google Analytics" November 11, 2021 5.0 Overall speaking, if I were looking for an alternative to Google Analytics, this would be my first choice. But if you rely heavily, like myself, on Google's tools, you might find easier just to use Google Analytics. Piwik is a lot more transparent, cleaner, easier to use as a standalone tool though. Pros I loved the way information is presented to the users. For some aspects it's way clearer and more intuitive than Google Analytics. Cons While Google Analytics belongs to the same ecosystem as many of the other tools (Google Ads, Search Console, remarketing etc) you would use if you work in digital marketing or you need to get an idea on the data related to your website, Piwik doesn't belong and this makes harder integrating it with other tools. Also, I had some issues when using Piwik in terms of impact on loading and data retention (disk usage was growing exponentially when one of my website ramped up). Review Source Hugo H. The tool is complete with an analytics offer, but a consent management platform and a tag management system too. The product is fine; the experience around it felt upsell-first and support-light when the situation got complex. We’re migrating away. If you do choose Piwik PRO, get crystal-clear written alignment upfront on (1) support scope and escalation, (2) how non-human traffic affects billing, and (3) renewal/termination mechanics—and send non-renewal notices early. Pros Piwik PRO is a capable privacy-forward analytics platform. The UI/reporting will feel familiar if you used Universal Analytics (GA3), and the core tracking and dashboards work as expected. If your priority is data governance and compliance, the product direction makes sense. Cons We paid over $100k over two years and did not receive an enterprise-level partnership. When bot/AI traffic began polluting our data and inflating action counts beyond our tier, support acknowledged abnormal bot volume—but the guidance was mostly “segment it,” “read the docs,” and “mitigate at your CDN/WAF.” Meanwhile, the commercial response treated those bot-inflated numbers as grounds for tier upgrades and additional invoices. Between frequent handoffs/turnover and long gaps in proactive communication, it became an expensive tool we had to manage almost entirely ourselves. Pros Simple and beautiful interface. You can have all the information about your visitors. I really like to be able to know if a visitor is coming back or if it's his first time visiting my website. Un TMS, une CMP et un outil analytics. L'outil est également compatible avec Looker Studio Cons On regrette la technologie et la librairie assez limitée de Piwik Pro qui se compare simplement à Universal Analytics.
