We wanted a simple and secure way to manage shared passwords instead of sending credentials through chat or keeping them in spreadsheets. Passwork solved that problem well and their support is very responsive. It has been easy to adopt across the team, including for colleagues who are not very technical, and we've been using it daily without any issues. Pros Passwork is very easy to use, even for non-technical team members. We use it to securely share passwords within our organization and with a few external contractors. The permissions are straightforward, the interface is clean, and the initial setup was quick thanks to the well-written documentation. Cons I haven't run into any significant issues so far. It has covered our team's needs well without any major issues. Passwork gives you that. Also it supports APIs that replaces Vault-like solution, which are designed for automation rather than end users. Pros We needed a password manager that would include all company staff, with client-side encryption, and not only the technical staff. Passwork was able to provide that with a very simple and accessible interface for everyone. Moreover, the Passwork team provide fast-response support and improved the solution over time, adding the most needed features and performance improvements required to support very large compagnies/very high number of entries. Cons A few years ago Passwork missed some feature that other solution provided like multiple links per passwords or TOTP. But these feature as been added over time. Pros \- Ease of installation (for a self hosted server) - Easy migration from our legacy tool via CSV export/import - Folder structure, great search function - Productivity boost thank to the browser integration - Fair pricing for a small team Cons \- Tideous notificaiton setup for each user. In our case we have no need for notificaitons and have to disable them all. - Minor interface colums width is not always optimized. Manual redimensionning is often required when long password names are used. On the rare occasions where we've required support from the Passwork team, they have been friendly, professional and have responded to our queries with minimal delays. Pros It's a simple and easy to use password manager, once setup. Our non-technical staff use it without issue multiple times a day. It also has all of the features we care about without being too difficult to learn or use. We are able to securely access and share our passwords with minimal effort. I believe it is competitively priced based on my research Cons Depending on your installation method, keeping the product up to date can be involved. If using the self-hosted product, I suggest sticking with the Docker deployment method. Excellent documentation. Pros I’ve been using this software for some time and I truly appreciate how easy it is to use. For example 1st my understanding of totp was very vague; now i yet need to understand say keycloak to be able to setup sso. I could point to these aspects i encontered . purchasing passwork . intalling passwork . creating information architecture . doing integrations with other solutions . studying api interface . exporting-importing data and with each it actually took some time to get more comfortable but i also guess it would have been so with every software Pros Today i like it really a lot (for example i can see into totp so to say base secret so it makes possible to transfer this Password entry field to somewhere else, say to other passwork setup). I use v 7 self-hosted docker-based variation and to me it is good - i have direct control over my secrets and i more-or-less understand how it works component wise (different docker containers have different obligations, even looked into mongodb at some extent) Cons It is my deficit but it took some time for me to understand that i could think in one hand of folders as 'resource groups' and in the other hand use 'user groups', and as a result i have so to say two flocks i can connect with passwork acl logic; for example i create rg-www what contains web related secrets, and i create ug-www-sysadm and ug-www-appadm what contains user accounts who need to system-administrate and application-administrate www-related things, respectively. Maybe it would not make much sense but having dicovered for me Yubikey, i wonder if there would be reason to desire say webauthn based authentication into passwork. Cons Initial setup for us was a bit tricky and convoluted. This may of been resolved in more recent versions of documentation. Multiuser with different roles and rights was a must, LDAP integration a nice add on. Passwork ticked all the boxes. They were realy helpful in the testing phase (demo license and expanded it to do some more tests) and ultimately helped with the integration of our AD user lsit (was a bit tricky to setup but works flawless ever since). Performance is very good and the best thing is the near zero enduser problems - its so intuitive, that none of the 30 users had any further questions after first introducing the software. We're using the browser plugin and secure the access to the actual frontend with a certificate - works really well. Pros Passwork is cost-effective, allowing us to offer all of our employees a shared password manager solution that is easy to use. It allows for a quite specific access right management. Passwork can be self-hosted via an on premise server installation, which also allows for AD integration. Cons The documentation for an on premise setup is a bit sparse, but after contacting Passwork's customer service the sys admin responsible was able to finish the setup without any problems. Moving passwords between folders can be tedious as they need to be moved individually. It would have been great if Passwork had a timed clipboard clearing function. Review Source MM Mike M. Passwork provided that solution and allowed us to connect to our Active Directory for authentication as well as import credentials easily from a previous system. Pros Open Source software with all the expectations of securely storing highly sensitive credentials. The web interface is highly responsive. The support team is very quick to fix and implement patches. Cons Permissions and roles seem to need some work, but have improved in version 3.
