### "passwork as password manager"

July 8, 2024

Pros

I like that you can host it yourself and have complete control over where it stores it's data.

Cons

The auto complete browser plugins are not as well designed as some of the competition.

### "Simple, Secure Password Management for every user"

April 27, 2026

5.0

Password management is complicated enough for must users, that a simple and accessible solution is required to be able to onboard most of the employees. Passwork gives you that. Also it supports APIs that replaces Vault-like solution, which are designed for automation rather than end users.

Pros

We needed a password manager that would include all company staff, with client-side encryption, and not only the technical staff. Passwork was able to provide that with a very simple and accessible interface for everyone. Moreover, the Passwork team provide fast-response support and improved the solution over time, adding the most needed features and performance improvements required to support very large compagnies/very high number of entries.

Cons

A few years ago Passwork missed some feature that other solution provided like multiple links per passwords or TOTP. But these feature as been added over time.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Passwork

Price and how user-friendly the solution is. Most solutions does bring the minimum requirements for a modern password manager. But some are more focused on tech users than being able to target a large non-tech audience.

### "glad to use it"

March 9, 2026

4.0

Overall, my experience with Passwork has been positive. It provides a reliable and user‑friendly solution for securely managing passwords within a team. Daily usage is straightforward, and the platform feels stable and efficient. The only real friction point comes from its user‑management capabilities, which could be more flexible, but the core functionality works very well.

Pros

Passwork is very easy to use, with a clean and intuitive interface that makes it simple to store, organize, and retrieve passwords quickly, even for non‑technical users.

Cons

User management can feel limited and sometimes inconvenient, especially when dealing with complex team structures or needing more granular control over permissions and access rights.

### "Password Pro (self hosted system) review"

November 26, 2025

5.0

Great. On the rare occasions where we've required support from the Passwork team, they have been friendly, professional and have responded to our queries with minimal delays.

Pros

It's a simple and easy to use password manager, once setup. Our non-technical staff use it without issue multiple times a day. It also has all of the features we care about without being too difficult to learn or use. We are able to securely access and share our passwords with minimal effort. I believe it is competitively priced based on my research

Cons

Depending on your installation method, keeping the product up to date can be involved. If using the self-hosted product, I suggest sticking with the Docker deployment method.

Very positive, whole company use it on a daily basis. It is intuitive, easy to learn, offers a lot of features and maintenance and administration is easy once you do it a few times.

Pros

Ease of use, intuitive, granular access, LDAP functionality, Pricing, Password sharing, easy to master and easy to maintain

Cons

### "Passwork: Excellent experience"

July 23, 2025

5.0

Excellent experience, I recommend it to other companies. Easy to use and install. Excellent documentation.

Pros

I’ve been using this software for some time and I truly appreciate how easy it is to use. The interface is intuitive, making it accessible even for those with little technical experience. Features are clearly organized and easy to manage, which helps streamline daily tasks. Another big plus is that it doesn’t require high-end hardware — it runs smoothly even on older machines. A great solution for anyone looking for efficiency without unnecessary complexity.

Cons

Overall, there aren't any major things I dislike about Passwork. My only complaint is the lack of link management. Currently, only https, http, ssh, and mailto are supported. It would be helpful to be able to create custom ones. I wouldn't consider this a weakness, but rather an area for improvement.

### "Now feeling almost comfortable with passwork"

July 29, 2025

5.0

It was relatively big effort for me to reach passwork but it was not so because of passwork but because of me being not prepared for it. For example 1st my understanding of totp was very vague; now i yet need to understand say keycloak to be able to setup sso. I could point to these aspects i encontered . purchasing passwork . intalling passwork . creating information architecture . doing integrations with other solutions . studying api interface . exporting-importing data and with each it actually took some time to get more comfortable but i also guess it would have been so with every software

Pros

Today i like it really a lot (for example i can see into totp so to say base secret so it makes possible to transfer this Password entry field to somewhere else, say to other passwork setup). I use v 7 self-hosted docker-based variation and to me it is good - i have direct control over my secrets and i more-or-less understand how it works component wise (different docker containers have different obligations, even looked into mongodb at some extent)

Cons

It is my deficit but it took some time for me to understand that i could think in one hand of folders as 'resource groups' and in the other hand use 'user groups', and as a result i have so to say two flocks i can connect with passwork acl logic; for example i create rg-www what contains web related secrets, and i create ug-www-sysadm and ug-www-appadm what contains user accounts who need to system-administrate and application-administrate www-related things, respectively. Maybe it would not make much sense but having dicovered for me Yubikey, i wonder if there would be reason to desire say webauthn based authentication into passwork.

### "Sleek UI and Easy Maintenance – A Solid Password Manager"

July 30, 2025

4.0

Passwork has improved significantly since version 7. It’s now a well-designed and easy-to-manage password manager that fits well into our enterprise environment. The clean UI, reliable update process, and straightforward setup make it a strong choice for teams looking for an on-premise solution.

Pros

The modern and simplified UI introduced in version 7 is intuitive and visually appealing. Updates via PowerShell modules are simple and quick—this used to be more complex before version 7. Setup and daily use are straightforward, even for non-technical users.

Cons

The search function can be unreliable. Sometimes entries don’t show up even when the search terms seem correct, which can be frustrating. We're still waiting for the promised desktop application and offline functionality, which would make Passwork more versatile, especially in restricted or offline environments.

Alternatives considered

[1Password](https://www.capterra.com/p/176113/1Password/)[Trend Micro Password Manager](https://www.capterra.com/p/238488/Trend-Micro-Password-Manager/)

Reason for choosing Passwork

On-premise deployment: Unlike 1Password and Trend Micro, Passwork gives us full control over where our data is stored. This was critical for meeting internal security and compliance requirements. Team and access management: Passwork offers granular user permissions, folder-level access control, and easy management for teams—all in a clean and simple interface. No subscription lock-in: Passwork offers a one-time licensing model for self-hosted environments, which is more cost-effective long-term compared to ongoing cloud subscriptions. Active development: Since version 7, the product has improved significantly in terms of UI/UX and update management (especially via PowerShell).

We used KeePass for several years, but as our team grew, it became increasingly difficult to manage shared access, keep the database synchronized, and maintain proper audit controls. We needed a more collaborative, centralized, and web-based solution with role-based permissions and team management. Passwork offered all of that, with a cleaner UI, on-premise deployment, and simplified user administration which made the switch a logical step for us.

### "Streamlined and well designed password manager"

June 30, 2025

5.0

Our company uses Passwork for four years now as central hub for all kind of sensitive information share. Users have basically stopped sending each others passwords per mail or chat (admin: yay!) because the passwork inbox feature has been widely appreciated as main spot to recieve sensitive access information. Thanks to the full REST capability, Passwork has also become the main automatic access broker in our company. Software products and tools store passwords and API token in Passwork, others recieve them. Automation is fast and easy to code.

Pros

The user expirience is quite flawless, everything runs smoothly, feels well designed and responds without page loads. For the customer "feature requests" are available in the customer center. Sharing passwords with inboxes is really well made. Ressource requirement is low, runs well on limited VMs. TOTP feature and custom fields (and attachments) allow for more shares than just passwords.

Cons

Sometimes smaller bugs slip through testing, but usually get fixed quickly. With the newest major release (7) some design choices are odd. New setup feels like a downgrade compared to previous git cloning. However these are minorities. There is few to dislike about the product.

### "Best software to password management on premise"

February 13, 2025

We use it We chose it after checking various solutions. The possibility of installing it on our systems weighed heavily on the choice. The use is simple and intuitive and has improved our centralized credential management.

### "Passwork, Excellent On-premise/Cloud SMB and Enterprise solution"

February 14, 2025

5.0

It helps our team centralized frequently used password and sharing password with members of the company have different level of permission, so you could send "Read Only" records without have to worry about that person making any changes

Pros

Browser based and available for on-premise installation (for SMB or Enterprise it's a must. Easy to backup, even though backup is not yet encrypted, so when the admin created backups, it will be in plaintext, but as long as you have secure system deployment, I believe it should be ok.

Cons

The Mobile apps, somewhat has limitation for admin user (unable to change settings from mobile apps), not yet compatible for Keypass and cannot use password for terminal command, but overall I would still give it 8.5 out of 10

Passwork works well for our purposes of managing a very large collection of shared passwords across our team, while allowing external 3rd parties access to share and view shared records. Password organization and structure are clear and easy to use.

Cons
