Pros

BrightHR offers excellent value for money, particularly for small and growing businesses. The learning curve is manageable, and the system feels intuitive once you are familiar with it. There isn’t anything I would describe as a true negative. As a business that works with both, having a distinction in how each group is displayed and managed would make navigation even clearer and reduce the risk of confusion, especially as the team grows.

Pros

We’ve been using BrightHR as our staff portal for clocking in, storing employee details and managing documentation, and overall it’s been a really valuable system for our business. BrightHR offers excellent value for money. The platform covers everything we need in one place – from time tracking to secure document storage – which saves us both time and admin costs. After reviewing our account, we realised we were paying for features we didn’t actually use, and this was resolved quickly and fairly. The communication has been fantastic, especially from \[sensitive content hidden\]. We had some issues with our account setup, including the wrong point of contact being listed, and \[sensitive content hidden\] was superb from start to finish. She was proactive, clear, and incredibly efficient in getting everything corrected. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and she kept us fully informed throughout.

Really good so far, there are always new improvements which is helpful and makes us far more efficient.

Pros

It is comprehensive and easy to use and has allowed us to be far more efficient with our policies and processes. Easy access via the app from home so provides a good employee user experience too.

Cons

We have complex rota/schedules which BrightHR does not currently support and I would like to be able to record training records on the platform too.

Overall, BrightHR has been an excellent tool for confidently and compliantly managing HR processes. It provides peace of mind, saves time, and helps ensure best practice is followed. The platform is reliable, well supported, and continually improving. For charities, community organisations, and small to medium employers, it offers very strong value for money and a trusted source of HR support.

Pros

BrightHR is very easy to use and takes a lot of the stress out of HR compliance. The templates, policies and step-by-step guidance are clear and practical, even for small organisations without in-house HR expertise. The advice line is a real strength; being able to speak to someone knowledgeable and get clear, confident guidance is extremely reassuring. Document management is straightforward, and the system helps keep everything organised and audit-ready.

Cons

This is only a small suggestion rather than a criticism, as the system is excellent overall. Currently, staff clock in via the smartphone app or a computer, and it would be great to see a tablet or kiosk-style option added in future for shared use. Everything else works extremely well and meets our needs.

When seeking specific information and answers to detailed questions, I was repeatedly transferred between agents without receiving the precise materials or responses I required. This pattern of ineffective communication not only wasted considerable time but also demonstrated a lack of proper training or coordination among customer service representatives. 2. Contractual Concerns : The contract terms present serious concerns regarding customer rights and fair business practices. Most notably, the cancellation clause requires payment of 80% of the remaining contract period, even when cancellation is warranted due to service deficiencies. This punitive approach to contract termination appears to prioritize revenue retention over customer satisfaction and service quality accountability. They didn't even notify me prior to the renewal which raised a red flag to me. When service quality issues directly contribute to a customer's decision to cancel, the company should reasonably adjust termination fees rather than maintaining such restrictive financial penalties. This practice effectively holds customers financially hostage to substandard service. 3. Legal Compliance Concerns : The contract terms raise questions about compliance with Ontario commercial law and consumer protection regulations. Under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act and related commercial legislation, businesses must ensure their contracts contain fair and reasonable terms. The 80% cancellation fee structure may potentially violate: -Consumer Protection Act provisions regarding unfair contract terms -Common law principles of unconscionability -Provincial regulations governing commercial contracts and cancellation rights I recommend that potential customers carefully review these contractual obligations and consider seeking legal counsel before signing. Current customers experiencing similar issues may wish to consult with legal professionals regarding their rights under Ontario commercial law. Recommendation Based on these experiences, I cannot recommend this company's services. The combination of poor communication, restrictive contract terms, and questionable compliance with consumer protection standards creates an unsatisfactory customer experience that potential clients should carefully consider.

Cons

Can we look at a feature to submit weekly or monthly timesheets when working with contractors; while we dont use the rota or shifts, we use a manual timesheet right now that would be good to have on the system

robust information on staff files great for CQC assurance I was able to get rid of some of my. It reduces the files of paperwork. helpful for tracking holidays, tracking sick leave, and monitoring attendance

It really needs sections for some of the documents also pop up reminders areas for immunisation for example.

After numerous phone calls and video calls, we were unfortunately unable to get the BrightHR clocking-in and clocking-out app working, which was the main reason we signed up for the system. Despite this, we were still paying for the software while being unable to use it. Due to our business facing serious financial difficulties — including a company going bankrupt and owing us a significant amount of money — we had no option but to cancel the contract. I explained this situation to BrightHR and asked if it would be possible to exit the contract under the circumstances. I would like to specifically commend three members of staff: \[sensitive content hidden\]. When I became upset, they remained professional, friendly, and extremely sympathetic. They took the time to listen carefully to my situation and genuinely did everything they could to help. They truly went above and beyond with their support, and I couldn’t be happier with the service they personally provided. Their compassion and professionalism made a very difficult situation much easier to handle.

For our business we were unable to use the clocking in and out software due to multiple locations on different days, if we had employees in one location and on a weekly rota this would of been ideal .

Intuitive and well presented site. Excellent training modules included- much better than some other HR software I have used or seen. Fantastic use of AI for advice.

Cons

It was a little much on screen as you are not able to remove or hide any aspects of the software you won't be using from the ladder or main dashboard as they are not relevant to the business need.

Nice and easy to use. The side menu and submenus are easy to navigate. The Glu E-learning will be a game-changer in our business.

There isn't anything at this stage I don't like. We have only just started using the system, so we can't comment at this stage.

### "Great system"

BrightHR has been really easy to use and does not take much getting used to. I would recommend it for small teams who don't need the extra HR functions like rippling and automated onboarding etc.

Pros

Its simple and easy to use. Good value for money. As I induct new employees, I find it very easy to show others how to navigate around the system. It is good for storing documents, updating information and booking holidays. The rota system is easy to use too.

Cons

The functionalities are quite limited. If you are looking for a more in depth system, this is probably not the one to go with.

Cons

Having to create a duplicate employee record to change annual leave recording from days to hours. This resulted in payroll problems which still haven't been resolved.

Great, very insightful and easy to follow. Online training can sometimes be an overload of information that is hard to take in but Dan made it easy to learn and take on board, thank you.

### "Appears good but slow response rate and won’t let you cancel despite being told I could - AVOID"

Customer service and call center has been very slow - I have tried to cancel their services several months ago and initially told this was never agreed then they listened to sales recording and said cancellations reviewed on case by case basis - but not being increasingly difficult and chasing me for money despite not having used services or platform for ages

Initially responsive pre signing of contract but they are after your money and trying to tie you into a long contract

User friendly or appears so - much of this you could do in other apps and not sure you need the high fees

Advice given is brilliant - we have been supported so well during a lot of change and uncertainty within the company

Cons

Platform is a bit clunky but we have suggested a number of ideas which are being considered. Could do with making the notification box more than 175 characters

### "Friendly team"

So far so good, all the team I have spoken with have been so friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the first call, the sales pitch, the onboarding.

Pros

How user friendly the platform is. My account manager Dione was very helpful with onboarding and answering all questions I had.

Cons

The only con would be the amount of emails I have received on onboarding, this is due to me missing calls due to work load or missing them.

The migration process with \[sensitive content hidden\] was very good. She informed us in every single step and input data very carefully.

Pros

Overall, my experience with BrightHR has been very positive. It has significantly simplified HR administration, especially for a small to mid-sized business without a large internal HR team. The platform centralizes employee records, absence tracking, documentation, and compliance tools in one easy-to-use system.

Cons

There is a major issue with payroll functionality. The fund handling within payroll has caused serious problems, and it does not feel reliable for managing salary processes. Also we can not upload any file in related of the absents. (Just sick note uploading is available)

Cons

Not being able to have all of the functions within one software package, for example having a separate app for expenses.

BRIGHT HR is new to our business its a start up business with only me working i like that i can speak to real people that have real vision of difficulties we face in life

Pros

\[sensitive content hidden\] # BrightHR went above and beyond to make things right for our little company she is very professional and supportive. shes a credit to BrightHR.

Cons

That fact they lock you in for 3 or 5 years term and no cancellation before this date but layla helped alot .

### "New to Bright HR"

My initial experience has been great. I had a few queries which were responded and resolved promptly. The system is fairly straight forward for non-techs like me. Looking forward to working with the team at Bright HR going forward.

Pros

We have just started our contract with Bright HR and so far the staff have been very helpful in both on-boarding and initial online chats as I set up my team.

Cons

Its early days so no great concerns, other than in terms of annual leave, the system does not allow to put in exact dates for employees on fixed term contracts.
