Pros: For an Anti-Virus / Firewall software, it is pretty quiet, meaning that it doesn't pop up all of the time with warnings and alerts, like other programs do. We are using the cloud version of the product, and it seems to work very well, we have email notifications setup, and we will get an email if it blocks something, or someone tries to run a program that it thinks is sketchy, or tries to access a website with some known issues, but otherwise, you install it, and it does its job. I do like the ability that I can sort of customize the install package for mass deployment (we use it with SCCM and its flawless), it will allow me to pick the group of computers that I want the laptop or desktop to belong to and I push that package during our SCCM task sequence, and after that I don't have to login to the symantec portal to move it, or manage it since my policies are already established.

Cons: I think the online interface is a bit cumbersome. I think that from the firewall perspective it seems a bit difficult to make it do what you want it to do, and unfortunately, their support is not incredibly helpful in this regard, at least in my previous experience. My biggest complaint is that if I reimage a computer, and re-use the same name, it makes a duplicate entry / assigns another license until I go out to the symantec portal and delete the previous record.

Overall: Antivirus / Malware protection, and endpoint firewall protection.

Compared to others I choose Symantec

Comments: Over the best software I have used.

Pros: great support. easy to use. online chat. remote connection to fix any problems. its guaranteed to work.

Cons: may use a lot of memory. runs in the background, requires re-starting computer, long wait times for customer support

It is definitely worth a try especially if you are a huge organization with 10.000+ clients.

Pros: The possibility for building distributed infrastructure makes it easy to secure clients in a globally dispersed environment. The scanning on the clients is well optimized and it is hardly noticeable from performance aspect. Fast response to 0-day attacks by Symantec.

Cons: The size of the updates can be a bit of a downside. This goes especially when new clients are introduced in an environment with slower bandwidth. The configuration interface can use an interface update.

Unobtrusive system protection.

Pros: Most virus programs are in-your-face with warnings and anything else they can find to occupy screen space. Thankfully that's not the case. You can scan when you want and what you want, and I'm assuming it's always keeping things in check in the background.

Cons: As a user and not an administrator, I find it feels lackluster in its capabilities. It's hard to tell if it feels like it's working sometimes.

Pros: I like the fact that its kind of set it and forget it. I set up the endpoint manager with alerting, and roll it out to my endpoints and it just works. I receive alerts whenever theres a threat, and theyre automatically sandboxed.

Cons: I wish they had better integration with out VSA. We use Kaseya, and I would like to be able to avoid using the local management to manage all endpoints.

Comments: Recommended Antivirus and Firewall solution.

Pros: -Great management interface with simple menu. -Easy to build rules and control users and machines. -Firewall that can as web filtering software with customized rules for ports, links and domains. -Managing Workstation resources and ports is so great feature. -Automatic reporting at your hand whenever you need.

Cons: Annual fees is somehow expensive when you have large number of workstations to be managed. sometimes you need to push the group policy (Rules) manually to managed workstation if you updated it and don't need to wait until automatic update but it is not a big deal.

Comments: This is the most comprehensive centrally managed endpoint security solution for businesses. It includes a host-based intrusion protection system (HIPS), device control, anti-malware, a network IPS, and a software firewall. Client policy is almost infinitely tweakable from a central console¿practical for large enterprises but a bit of overkill for the average small business.

Pros: easy to use and Comprehensive, centrally managed business endpoint security. Useful deployment wizard. Small install package. Effective anti-malware.

Cons: Remote management requires IE.Windows only. Client messages can be confusing. Learning how to configure can take time

Pros: Easy to understand how to install, setup, and use. No special training or skills needed. Protects our Macs and PCs from viruses, malware, and keeps the hackers out. I like the interface the most. Even the technically challenged can understand how to use it without the need to do a lot of reading.

Cons: Greatly shortens battery life of laptops. Makes laptops run really hot. Slows the computer down. Makes older computer almost so slow they are unusable.

Overall: Computers virus free, hacker free, no malware. The user has peace of mind everything is safe and secure.

Comments: I have recently started deploying v14, leaving v12. Its been a nightmare. The support is all overseas call centers, and the app is so aggressive on even the slightest thing in startup, and blocks many legitimate apps like angryip, simply deletes it if you try to download it. Maybe its good on an end-user PC, but it frustrating for IT staff. I'm sticking on 12.

Comments: We have been using SEP for several years now and it has provided excellent protection. The updates are timely and have not had any serious infections. We could not be happier with the product.

Pros: The LiveUpdates are timely and do their job. The patches can be pushed enterprise-wide with ease. The biggest pro is that it works. For an Enterprise protection software, that is the key selling point.

Cons: We have had an occasional hiccup where the end users need to manually update their virus definitions and there are no notifications that it needs to be done. This can cause users laptops to be blocked from our VPN until they manually push the update. It is not a problem really, just an inconvenience.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would highly recommend this product to any companies looking for enterprise protection.

Pros: Taking SEP to a giant leap over towards high accuracy of software quality.

Pros: Symantec Endpoint Protection is User-friendly and having very good log collection method, centralized administration and virus reporting. Also, Symantec has very nice log collection utility like Symhelp and Norton Power Eraser tool to clean Rootkits. Symantec is one of the best tools that I have worked so far and I appreciate the function of it which helps us to fix the virus issue quickly.

Cons: The report needs to be more flexible like getting noncompliant machine reports, running automatic scripts for noncomplaint . It also affects the performance of machine hence many user don't like this. There is reporting and automatic remediation of noncomplaint machine needs to be taken care.

Overall: Our organization primarily uses it for antivirus, web, network, and spyware protection. Every company computer has it installed during the imaging process.

Pros: Catches a lot of infections. Easy to mange.

Cons: Can be a bit resource intensive.

Overall: We use SEP at my company as our AV solution. It's fairly easy to manage. We have different SEP Managers for reach Active Directory Domain, so it can be a bit confusing at times and there isn't a single portal to manage everything.

Overall, managing AV on your desktops/servers is pretty simple with SEP. The ability to have it receive it's definitions from the SEP Manager as well as from Symantec directly in the event the SEPM is unavailable is great.

The Symhelp tool is great for analyzing a possible infection in your system to then send to support to analyze.

Comments: It provides multiple levels of security to an organization's network. Installation is smooth and doesn't take a lot of time. It's management is convenient using a central console.

Pros: It provides complete flexibility to the administrator. He can chose to install updates and patches directly at the endpoints or can push to each endpoint using the server. It is very effective in detecting malware owing to it's Insight platform.

Cons: Customer care does not respond in time and at times the antivirus consumes a lot of CPU resources causing workstations to become unresponsive.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would recommend it to all organizations for securing their business networks without spending a lot. Currently, it can be only be deployed as on-premise solution, so it is not suitable for organizations looking for a on-demand solution.

Pros: Regarding antivirus solutions, Symantec has nothing to prove yet but the company is still doing a very good job in that industry. The virus definitions are always up to date and are for sure one of the best three on the market. With Symantec EndPoint Protection, your business is under huge security regarding malwares and virus. The Management Console offers a lot of good tools such as monitoring, reports, client management.

Cons: A con would be some of the tools in Management Console are not very simple to use and that console is not the quickest one I've seen.

Pros: Very simple interface but still gives the ability to do set basic exclusions. Takes all the hassle of management out of SEP and gives an easy way to get reports and notifications on what is happening on your network

Cons: At times the product can be too simple. It expects you to want to use the normal basic profiles without any modifications.

Recommendations to other buyers: The management console is quite different then the normal SEP product. This is both a good thing and a thing to take some time to explore. I did find it easier to learn and setup. Plus it removes the hassle of setting up a management server (but gives you the option to setup a local update server).

Pros: The workstation deployment is very straight forward and updates can be easily pushed out. The antivirus protection is dependable and the firewall is flexible yet extensive enough to offer a solid protective layer.

Cons: The technical support documentation and support can be less than straight forward. If you encounter an error getting through support to get the correct answer may take some time.

Recommendations to other buyers: This is great software for small and mid sized companies but this does require an administrator with a solid understanding of your network and your business rules. It can be processor intensive when scanning so be sure to schedule scans for off peak periods.

Cons: Not to rant, but I think Symantec should focus more on improving the negative performance effects faced by some users. The application places too much of a strain on the system. To fully enjoy the benefits of the software, users would be forced to upgrade their hardware, which means more cost.

Recommendations to other buyers: Symantec has the largest database of known threats, so if your network comes under attack, Endpoint Protection will stop it before any harm is done. There is the proactive threat function that disables programs suspected of malicious actions.

Pros: Symantec security features and settings are all centrally located and managed from one location. Their threat protection mechanism is sometimes capable of detecting unknown threats based on their behavior.

Cons: When there is a problem with the endpoint protection manager, the client computers do not update themselves from the internet. Therefore, your systems may become vulnerable to recently discovered threats until it is running again.

Recommendations to other buyers: There are not many viable options when it comes to a comprehensive security solution. Symantec Endpoint Protection is the most convenient and realistic approach when it comes to network and computing security.

Pros: Symantec endpoint protection offers multiple layers of protection, not just virus protection. There is no need to purchase several different software products for security purposes.

Cons: This antivirus does not run well on our older computers. We may need to do a memory upgrade before we can re-install the software on them.

Recommendations to other buyers: We were introduced to this software by a sales rep when we purchased another software. The price seemed reasonable for the number of licenses. Totally worth the money.

Pros: The installation process was relatively easy. I say relative because I had to install it two or three times. The software ran smoothly and eradicated any bugs present. It manages the firewall effectively and updates itself regularly. It gives us peace of mind that if and when any viruses pop up, they'll be taken care of. It's worth the money.

Cons: There's not much that I don't like about Symantec, except that I had to uninstall and reinstall it a few times.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you're looking for a superior product that offers complete protection this is the product for you.

Pros: Symantec Endpoint Protection works in a visualization environment, and this is definitely a great feature.

Cons: A quick or full system scan is sometimes painfully slow, and it sometimes renders the computer unusable.

Recommendations to other buyers: Based on my experience, the performance of Symantec is much better on a Windows 8 machine than on one running Windows 7 or XP.

Pros: It can be remotely deployed to Mac clients as well as Windows machines.

Cons: While not being extremely demanding on system resources, there are, however, some noticeable system lags during certain operations such as system shutdown.

Recommendations to other buyers: Compare which software version and type you need so that you won¿t pay for a lot of features that you don¿t or won¿t be using.

Pros: There are a lot of things to love about Symantec Endpoint Protection. The main thing is the ability to stop infections coming from flash drives. You can lock down removable devices so that programs cannot be run from them.

Cons: The system performance suffers a bit during starting and shutdown. This however improves over time.

Recommendations to other buyers: Symantec Protection combines most of the security features needed to protect your network from harmful threats both locally and externally.

Pros: Symantec Endpoint Protection combines antivirus, anti-malware, anti-spyware, and firewall protection all in one package. This eliminates the need to purchase several different solutions, thus saving time and money.

Cons: The software packages are heavily bloated, even though they are compressed. Also, a corrupted installation is not easily removed and will cause system stability problems, requiring a fresh installation.

Recommendations to other buyers: Symantec Endpoint Protection is a good choice for medium-to-large-sized networks. It is easy to deploy to your workstation and laptops and is relatively easy to configure, install, and maintain.

Pros: Everything about SEP is a winner. The firewall is one of the best, the device manager gives control over your devices, and the virus and spyware application is every virus' nightmare.

Cons: It has caused my system to crash a few times, which was caused by some database files to my C: drive to its maximum capacity. I have had to constantly delete them manually, but I found a fix later.

Recommendations to other buyers: The antivirus protection runs pretty well on most operating systems as long as there is enough memory and a multiple-core CPU. The processing requirements are very high.

Pros: Symantec gets a 10 out of 10 for its stability. I love that it comes from a trusted leader in security applications and not a "just come" wannabe software firm.

Cons: The size and number of updates can put a strain on your internet connection, especially if you just did a clean installation.

Recommendations to other buyers: Whether you have a small, medium, or large-sized company, Symantec can take care of your needs. We have it running on our application and file server, plus four desktop workstations.

Pros: The application and device control are very useful tools that limit attacks from removable devices.

Cons: The minimum stated system requirements are way inadequate to run the application. I suggest twice the amount stated.

Recommendations to other buyers: When put to the test, the positives outweigh the negatives. What it falls short on is made up for in other areas.

Pros: The firewall and intrusion protection is one of the best available, along with the malware and spyware engine.

Pros: The price is pretty reasonable for the suite of products you receive, and also the ability to install on multiple computers is well-suited for our organization.

Cons: In my opinion, the detection rate of new viruses could be improved; it is sometimes slow in detecting viruses that other products have detected.

Recommendations to other buyers: Symantec has gotten a lot better with the latest version of endpoint protection. The program no longer affects system performance like it used to.

Pros: Symantec Endpoint Protection gives the administrator complete control of the installations on the network. Also, the remote management feature is really handy.

Cons: Since installation, I have noticed that client machines sometime take a full two minutes to receive an IP address from the DHCP server. I'm not sure why this is happening.

Recommendations to other buyers: Symantec is used by most financial institutions, universities, and companies. They have the strongest reputation of providing enterprise-level security solutions for all types of companies.

Pros: I love that it comes from a trusted leader in online security. Its track record speaks for itself. Spyware and viruses are a thing of the past since using Symantec.

Cons: Since installing it on our systems, I have noticed that the systems take quite a bit longer to boot and shutdown. However, it's bearable.

Recommendations to other buyers: Free solutions do not offer complete protection, as I have proven. Symantec keeps your systems clean by regularly scanning for the latest threats.

Pros: I love that it is compatible with different operating systems on a local area network. We have several Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 systems.

Cons: There is usually a period of unresponsiveness with the operating system until the virus database has been updated.

Recommendations to other buyers: Never entrust the security and integrity of your network to just any company. Choose a company based on their experience and reputation. Symantec fits both profiles.

Pros: The charts show the statuses of the different computers on the network, so you can know if all systems have the latest updates.

Cons: Sometimes, you have to delete temp files that it leaves behind. I had to manually remove over 20 GB of files that were filling my hard drive.

Recommendations to other buyers: Symantec knows what they are doing for the most part; that's why they are rated as the number one antivirus company in the world.

Pros: The ability to update the clients from a single database saves time and network bandwidth. Also, the user computers can be deployed by GPO.

Cons: Symantec Endpoint Protection is a memory hog, so make sure your systems have a lot of RAM and CPU power.

Recommendations to other buyers: Please don¿t install on older systems, it will make them inoperable. The requirements to run effectively are quite high.

Pros: I like its ability to be deployed over the network, thus saving time and effort.

Cons: I don't like the fact that it causes the machines to hang for a while after booting. This is usually around three to five minutes.
