I remember, when the 1st ransomware emerged, McAfee gave a security patch to protect users. Cons Our organization had daily security checkups running in a schedule time and in that time most of the machines gets stuck. It was very frustrating that it cause to stuck the machines during the scanning period. Has the most common features you would expect from an antivirus solution. Pretty stable and reasonable load on resources Cons User interface is a nightmare! Say that you need to exclude a file from quarantine/scanning, you cannot do that while real time scan is running. You cannot add multiple files at once. The moment you turn on Real time scan, the false positive file gets quarantined immediately. It's like the chicken and the egg situation. The home dashboard's menu on the left side is extremely confusing and more complicated than it needs to be. Pros I like the fact of how it protects my computer from viruses and does a little more. I used it everyday when it came as default on my PCs. Cons When it says the thing about the trial has ended I think having a fee for protecting a computer shouldn't even be charged. And also I do like how it protects your computer, but it makes the system works slow even if it works in the background. The full hard drive encryption is my favorite feature and I like that you need a very long password in order to access the device after each restart. Since installing this software I have not had any issues with viruses or malware. Cons If you want something great that there is gonna be a cost. In this case the cost is the speed of your PC. In order to run efficiently you need a good sized RAM. If policies allowed for delaying or changing times then it would probably be good. Pros It seems to provide good security, have had no system attacks get through. It stays up to date on it's own. Reports are clear and detailed Cons The biggest con I have found is that if your business policy is to run scans at certain periods don't plan on working effective during those times if you have to use any software that requires more than the minimal resources. Every time it runs it pegs my CPU and uses a lot of memory and if the polices are set by business you have no option of postponing or stopping the usage. Even a reboot doesn't delay it. Unlike other anti virus softwares, McAfee does not slow down the computer specially during the start up of the PC. It is also user friendly and even a person with not much of knowledge in IT can use it's functionalities with ease. They're always pushing to elevate and innovate and it shows in the products they sell. Pros I am amazed at how much McAfee has to offer in their suites. From basic malware scanning to USB control to ransomware protection. It's all tied together in one package. Cons The dashboard is jam packed with reports and alerts. This is great in terms of visibility but it also means that you cannot see certain statistics at a glance. I'm sure some UI changes are in the pipeline though.
