I had never used BoardPaq, and within 2 days, I was able to use the product efficiently and prepare for our Board Meeting. Pros It was extremely user friendly. I was able to learn the product in a couple days and customer service was excellent. I also liked the way the agenda printed and was customizable. Cons There wasn't anything I didn't like about BoardPaq. It was a fantastic product that did everything we liked. The BoardPaq team helped us transition to BoardEffect, now Diligent. Pros The platform was simple to use for the administrator. Templates were helpful, the full calendar of all meetings was easily accessible, and the library was easy to use and update. The cost was reasonable. Cons The users found it to be over complicated. Meeting pack generation was cumbersome. User access was not easy to set. Once I moved to a different board portal, I realized all the limitations I had in BoardPaq. There were not a lot of bells and whistles. Pros I liked the format of the agenda. It was clear and not constrained to columns like another board portal I am familiar with. Cons It did not look modern, especially on the admin side. I would describe it as "clunky." It's simple and very customizable from the admin front. Pros I appreciated that confidentiality is one of the most focused-on and prized aspects of this software, and that you can very tightly control the specific people allowed to see each and every piece of uploaded information. I utilize this feature with every single document I upload. Cons The admin side of the software is not the most intuitive and also looks like it hasn't been updated since 1995, but it's fairly smooth after getting over the learning curve. I must mention that the typical user experience is significantly smoother though. It takes time to get used to the software and where to locate meetings and documents. It could be time consuming to create some documents. You create an agenda and assign roles to people and you could send a vote to everyone to vote on agenda items. Sometimes I think it would be easier to do old fashion way and just send a pdf with all reports to members. Pros Great tool for uploading board, committee agendas, reports for meetings. Easily keep track of all meetings and members are given access to software to view reports for each meeting. It’s a great way to organize all meeting docs in one platform for all users. It’s an affordable tool and once you get used to functionality then it’s user friendly. Cons There’s definitely a learning curve to upload documents and it is time consuming to organize meetings docs, add members to the tool and give access to them. They do offer video tutorials for every item and there are YouTube and other free videos available. They do offer a free demo. Sometimes users forget passwords or it takes time for them to learn how to use the tools. Pros I like the ease of use, it took me a few times to get the hang of the process, mostly because I was only using it occasionally. I now use it pretty much monthly and it seems to be easier for me to utilize. Cons I think if I could make one change it would be to make it more step by step menu driven. Some might like the aspect that it is not, but for a newer user it would make it easier to learn.
