We have not dealt with system security challenges since we switched to ESET. Pros I like ESET because it is easy to set up, adjust security settings, and navigate through. It protects our systems against malware, viruses, spyware and other malicious programs and sends alerts on time. I also like real-time scanning and email filtering, which assure security and peace of mind. Cons ESET works quietly in the background, which sometimes makes us wonder if it is up and running. Scans sometimes take too long especially if you have many files. We have experienced a few cases of false alerts when dealing with safe files from known sources. They were very helpful in setting up the console and creating all of the policies that were needed. Pros I changed from Symantec to Eset. I believe their Threat Detection is very good. Even the basic Anti Program has many features that enhance protection. One needs to create policies to allow RDP via VPN. I use it to block add websites that the original website sends me to when clicking on an article to read. I talked with their tech support team when I couldn't get RDP via VPN to work. They logged on and created the necessary rules. The console management is excellent. Cons I can't think of anything. Maybe price? This is the business version. I don't know if the home has all of these extra protections. This is not a program that can be installed and walk away. In that time as an MSP, we have had no customer suffering any of the many threats that EST protects against. For this simple reason, we wouldn't use anything else. Online portal easy to use and well layed out. Most of our users are on thin clients and have profiles on the server. So very important for us to be able to catch stuff in real time but at the same time not have our system slowed to a crawl since everyone is technically using same processor and Ram power. Email security on our Exchange server also catches things weekly. Also get emails for tons of useful webinars to help us further the fight against malware. Pros Very easy to setup and maintain. The online portal allows you to remove old devices very efficiently so you do not overuse licenses. ESET has been in the market for quite some time indicating its ability to meet clients expectations. It monitors devices and blocks threats quickly and warns you when you are about to download malicious programs or access dangerous files. We are yet to experience any major data or device issues since we switched to ESET Pros The administrator can view and adjust security status of different devices from a central point. This ensures all devices are safe since a threat to one device could expose the others to similar threats. ESET has low impact on the computer performance. I like it because I can scan files in the background without significant slow down or unnecessary disruptions. The customer support team responds and helps you solve any technical hitches. Cons Setting up ESET and customizing its security features requires deeper understanding of how endpoint protection works. Although the default settings offer reliable security, you might need an expert to ensure the devices are safe especially if you deal with sensitive data. The small footprint and speed of its scanning engine is impressive coupled with its VB100 record and free upgrade to new versions make Eset an obvious choice. It doesn't slow your machine down on scanning and is sympathetic in its notifications to cause the least disruption to your workflow. On the whole I would recommend Eset Endpoint Security highly it does what it says on the tin and with minimal fuss. Pros Eset Endpoint Security is a business offering of a comprehensive suite of Security products including authentication, encryption and antiviral products for multi platform. The business licenses can be purchased in blocks of 5 for a 1 to 3 year duration. The product contains antivirus, firewall, antispam, device control and web filtering. The software footprint is small and its scanning engines speed is impressive against its competition. Eset has passed each one of its VB100 labtests never missing an in the wild virus. Licensing is flexible and new versions are free as long as you hold a valid license. On demand scans can be immediate or scheduled and Esset pride themselves on keeping false positives to a minimum. Eset's support team are knowledgeable and helpful and will happily remote to your machine using ISLOnline to resolve any issues you may have. The business product can be managed by a Remote Administration Console making easy to update and configure all the Eset software on your network. Cons Because of Eset's comprehensive suite of products it is adviseable to get an Eset agent or Eset themselves to carry out the intial setup. As you drill through the menu's the compexity of the product becomes very evident. The home user security product contains helpful context sensitive messages to aid with its configuration but the messages produced by the business product require some technical knowledge. The firewall part of the product can be sensitive to minor network changes and block printers and devices which are contained in the secure zone. Pros Dealing with attackers or hackers at our endpoints is more challenging than when we have implemented the ESET Endpoint Security tool. April 16, 2023 3.0 As I said it's not a bad antivirus software, but I think there is better out there. Admittedly when I used it I liked it a lot, but when I switched to Kaspersky I realized that was a much better software. It also depends on your use of the internet. At the time I was downloading music and movies through P2P programs. That is risky in and of itself, now I don't do that so that my color my experience. But my experience is what it is. Pros I did like how quick the threat assessment was. It notified me of all kinds. One of the private banks I worked at suggested I use it. It was a solid antivirus software. I think it's better than McAfee or Norton. Cons At the end of the day I got more value out of Kaspersky. It costs less and is more effective. I have never seen so little virus intrusion since I started using Kaspersky. I felt like it could have been cheaper. Reason for choosing ESET Endpoint Security I did not unfortunately. Pros I have tried many other security software from anti-virus to firewalls and simply potentially malicious detection, but ESET with their various softwares have detected more issues and offered quicker solutions than any other security software I have dealt with in my 10+ years of security experience. Their software has kept me at ease in both my personal and business life and they offer strong support for any potential issues that you bring up to them through telephone or e-mail support. Cons I have very little bad to say about ESET, other than the pricing and the support for server software compared to home software vary greatly and seem to use completely different centers for such type of support, which can be understandable but also a little concerning because it might be a bias. Pros There are many features to be noted about this software, such as that it has a bonus 'secure browser feature' which protects sensitive data while browsing on the internet. Other good features noted include an advanced memory scanner (the software detects and defends against fileless malware, which is something that is not easily detectable), ransomware shield (the software picks up on any ransomware attacks blocking such attempts) and brute force attack protection (the software defends against remote 'hacking' attempts at the VPN, protecting against the potential guessing of credentials from remote connections). As a small business owner, this software provides a good level of comfort, as I know my business is holistically protected, as I can focus on what I do best. Pros I love ESET for its frequent scanning of potential viruses and threats. It provides instantaneous feedback and gives me alerts. Cons Once many years ago, ESET did not protect me from a Virus and my computer got some major problems. I had to have AVG installed by my previous employer IT rep. ESET offers a convenient and effective one stop security solution" April 20, 2018 5.0 I haven't lost time or money or business because my computer is protected and I'm not vulnerable to attacks. That's basically an ROI of priceless if you ask me. Pros Currently I am using ESET on my work laptop. I am a small freelance business and just have the one computer to protect at the moment. I also purchased another license to install on my parents' computer as they have been very prone to viruses in the past. Pros - Set it and forget it - I basically set up this software once to run automatic scans and I haven't had to bother with it much more than that. - Anti-theft feature - this feature allows you to locate your computer no matter where it is if it gets stolen. Thankfully haven't had to try this feature out, and I hope that I never have to, but it's pretty comforting to know that I have it. - Parental control - I don't use this, but you can basically set up different profiles for children when they browse the web to block certain sites - Secure browser for banking and financial websites - ESET launches its own browser when you go to any financial or banking websites. As I understand it, they encrypt everything over this secure browser - Chock full of other features like personal firewall, email protection, webcam protection, etc - Automatic prompting when you connect an external drive to scan it. Cons Absolutely nothing. So far I have found ESET to be very easy to use and I haven't come across any negatives. Everything from setting up automatic scans to enabling the anti-theft feature through their website has been super smooth. No issues with this whatsoever and it's extremely easy to use.
