Ability to make data driven decisions about which product features to invest in, which features to deprecate. Ability to gather feedback directly from users of our product, within the context of the app itself.

Pros

The ability to create in-app experiences and engage with users without the need for a developer. Also, the fact that once I've 'tagged' a feature or page, I can get retroactive usage analytics going as far back as our initial implementation. This allows me to focus on what's important NOW without worrying that I might miss out on key data if I don't tag everything right away.

Cons

The inability to share specific views (dashboards) that I've configured for a specific audience. I currently take screenshots and share that way, but you don't get the full effect of the interactions.

I wasn't initially involved in setting this up, so I was super hesitate when the team said the NPS tool was going to change. I couldn't be happier - this is a powerful tool!

Pros

I use the NPS feature of Pendo daily. The rest of my team uses this tool for our onboarding. We recently moved from Delighted to Pendo and I couldn't be happier! Easy to see our NPS score change over a set period of time, as well as see users comments and score.

Cons

So I only use the one feature while my team makes full use of the rest of the tool. There are really no negatives other than it's overwhelming at first as there are so many useful features. Take time to learn so you can get the most from Pendo.

Pros

Pendo allowed us to quickly onboard our customers and continue to produce great content in app

Cons

its still got a lot of gaps and can be hard to get info out of at times but overall it was still the best choice for us. the team seems to be responsive and is developing fast.

Pros

Pendo provides important insights about our users' behavior and in an easy to understand way. It even logs events and actions historically, so if I didn't know that I needed to be tracking something until now, I can track that user behavior and know what happened in the past. Extremely valuable all around.

Cons

It can be slow if you have many users or a lot of data to track.

We are gaining better insight and gathering customer feedback in a way we have not been able to do in the past using Pendo.

Pros

I found it very helpful for including guides in our own software and training in a way that was much easier than anything I have used in the past.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve that took more time to get up to speed on than I had anticipated. The ease of use on the UI was tricky and it required some outside coaching and trouble shooting but once I figured it out it was fine. But there is room there for improvement.

Pendo has been invaluable in providing current and comparative information over time as to customer behavior in our products to give us a better understanding of what they are actually doing, how, and when, as well as a streamlined way of communicating through banners and tooltips.

Pros

It's easy to get started and learn your way around Pendo to start getting a high level understanding of what is happening in your product. As one of the users who is not setting up most of the tagging, but using it to glean insights about customer behavior, I needed little to no training to be able to get started. When it comes to doing more complex actions, it can help to watch some of the training videos to get a better sense of how to navigate the more complex features. It provides a versatile information to be able to get all kinds of user behavior at the appropriate level of granularity, and makes it easy to see progress over time.

Cons

Creating common best practices with your team, including templates, consistent nomenclature, etc. can be challenging and its easy to accidentally create redundancies or systems that are hard to understand without knowing about collaborators. We've worked to set up shared communications and systems in order to avoid this, but its something that new teams may struggle with intially.

### "Customization is key when messaging in-app"

Pros

I like how customizable the in-app messaging is. It is very easy to make all messaging feel as if it is just another part of your application to your users. Guide reporting is super intuitive and I love the customizable dashboards per user, so each user can focus on what means most to them and their team. Set-up and installation was relatively easy and the instructions were easily to follow. Their support team is great and will always hop on a screenshare with you to solve any issues. Training and onboarding does take about a week and a half to go through, but it was very in-depth on each feature and how you could use it in your business specific use cases.

Cons

Their newest guide designer is meant to be sleeker, however, it has a steep learning curve if you are switching directly from the legacy designer. We had only been on Pendo for a few weeks when they switch happened and there weren't as many guides and walkthroughs on how to manage the new guide designer. Funnels and paths can track a lot of data and are very useful, however, they take a VERY long time to load. If you make changes or tag new features to get better information then you are going to have to reload each time. I also wish there was more segmentation of user permissions. Basic users and still have a lot of access to create and customize things. I wish I could restrict or grant more granular access levels.

Pros

I can't say enough good things about pendo! It provides us data from our tool that we never knew we could possibly harvest. Being able to better understand our client's workflow is invaluable to our team

Cons

Pendo is pretty expensive and a bit hard to learn but we are overall satisfied and believe it's worth the money

Pros

Data collecting is very important and it helps us to make key decisions; Pendo has us covered in that area. But, the rest of Pendo's functionality is amazing and easy to use. We can put a lot of information out in the shape of popups, walkthroughs, resource center, etc., so that our customers have options, at their fingertips, to learn more about our software or the industry. Pendo makes it easy to trigger the information based on actions from our users.

Cons

So far, we've loved to work with Pendo and all the features we've been able to use.

Pros

Being able to tell how often our members use the product and specifically which features they use most frequently helps us create meaningful conversations with them. We can also see specifically who on campus is logging in and wether wide-spread adoption of the product has been achieved.

Cons

The search function for account names is limited. Many of our members have very similar names, but the search feature requires exact nomenclature - I would like to be able to search on key word(s) for the most salient part of an institution's name.

Cons

I think that there is a bit of a steep learning curve when it comes to the software, you have to invest some time to understand it.

Great support upon setup, we had a professional services project done and our engineer was extremely responsive and support is always helpful.

Pros

Pendo is easy to use and very effective at gathering analytics the way you need them. Anyone with even limited tech knowledge should be able to get this up and running in their app in a few hours and get the data they need quickly.

Cons

There are just a few features we need that would really complete their offering (such as hiding guides on specific pages). They do make a concerted effort to update regularly though.

We've used it for product analytics which has helped direct investment in the platform. We are beginning to use it more for driving adoption and deflecting cases by offering more contextual information to customers in places where Pendo has helped us determine they get stuck.

Pros

I love that Pendo gives me the opportunity to do so many important tasks that I would otherwise need development resources to accomplish. It helps me make better product decisions and stronger product releases.

Cons

I'd like to see segment management elevated. It's easy to lose track of segments across large teams and it's hard to test what particular users will see. This is important both when you have a lot of potential guides that a given user would see or when you have certain users who you want to make sure are NOT seeing certain guides. I always feel a little unsure what will happen. Additionally, I would like segment rules to be reusable because I sometimes set up the same segment rules over and over again.

Pros

My organization uses the ability to create and target 'guides' on an at least weekly basis. We use this functionality to allow us to target communications to the right customers who need it at the right time. The analytics are also pretty great and we check in on how our customers are using our product on a daily basis.

Cons

The Web & Mobile functionality is close, but not 100% consistent.

Insights, Data, Client Outreach, Client Interaction!! You name it, it's probably improved since pendo! We've started implementing our direct NPS scores and we've been able to integrate it with our CRM.

Pros

Implementation was simple, they were spot on for that! On the backend, it wasn't a crazy project, which for the results is outstanding. Once you learn the ropes it is easy to navigate, locate, search, and extract the metrics you need.

Cons

There are some integration related issues that are a little more complicated to tell 'what went wrong' especially if you aren't code/integration savvy. I wish there was a way to implement team based dashboards, standard company based dashboard (or higher level overview), and then custom dashboards which you can save and name instantly. Ideally, I'd like to be able to have numerous dashboards for specific goals(NPS)/insights(Usage)

Great product and great company to work with. Would request a bit more flexibility in regards to their onboarding project and timing re: should take into account our needs as not all customer's are the same.

Pros

Love all the features and analytics available as it enables us to facilitate an easier onboarding/learning experience for those using our product but also provides us with invaluable information on how users are actually using it.

Cons

Not the easiest or UI when developing walkthrus. This is a bit cumbersome. Because this process isn't intuitive requires a bit of a steeper learning curve than necessary.

Pendo has addressed our key needs: understanding user behaviors and establishing a dialog with our users (both inbound and outbound). The onboarding process was fantastic - the Pendo support team (pre-, post-sales and technical) has been 100%

Pros

Pendo provides an easy to install solution, requiring only a small code snippet to get the machinery working. It also provides a powerful set of views into user behaviors, permitting segmenting by arbitrary user attributes using boolean logic expressions. It's outbound messaging capabilities have also been highly customizable, allowing us to use it for purposes not originally envisioned by the Pendo team

Cons

In spite of the app being mostly usable out of the box, there are clear areas where it needs improvement: 1) Access/authority rights - currently the app provides only 3+ tiers of access/authority. This is far too few given the number of features and capabilities users have access to. 2) Segments, paths, funnels, guides - for anything but the most trivial of uses, you can expect these to number in the hundreds in short order. But all of these need names and they need to be accessed. The UI around handling all of these named things is not very well thought through Put these two things together: multiple users attempting to navigate hundreds of different named things, and the usability of the system degrades.

Pendo has been great for us. Our customers love it and we are seeing a lot of value from implementing Pendo. The support that comes with Pendo and the networking Pendo provides have been incredibly helpful.

Pros

Pendo is fairly easy to use. They are coming out with new features frequently that help us and our customers. Pendo gives us the ability to create content without having to pull time from our Dev team.

Cons

Pendo core has been great for use. We recently signed up with Pendo Feedback and it has been great. There are some areas in Feedback that are lacking. We have been working closely with the Pendo team to try to relieve some of those pain points.

Cons

It's become apparent that Pendo is a highly capable tool and as a user with a very specific use case, it's a bit confusing to understand the different segments of the platform. Not a huge deal - it accomplishes what I care about, but a bit confusing and silo'd way to get where I need to be.

Great experience. Really love it.

Pros

Very powerful - does a lot of things right. Tables are insanely good - editable columns + export seems like it should be a best in class feature on every data related software. Pendo does it best. Love how NPS + Engagement are graphed on a 2x2 - super smart and actionable.

Cons

It's pretty challenging to get set up without a developer to help you. To me it's not plug and play. If you have a smart developer setting up events for you it becomes substantially easier to deal with. Doesn't work on Safari nearly as smoothly as Chrome which is fine but just a tad annoying.

After extensive feature tagging we are able to track user paths and issues as they use our product. We also extensively use the in product guides to notify users of important new releases and features.

Pros

The simplicity of the interface and what it offers can be misleading at first. The ease of use, features and insights that Pendo offers is unmatched.

Cons

Some of the online documentation is vague on details and background. The API is also very complicated to use as compared to other RESTful APIs on the market. I'd encourage more detailed use case and setup instructions that are easier to navigate.

Pros

I implemented the pendo sdk into an app, and left our BA to do user walkthroughs, add details to features etc. As a dev, I can then concentrate on feature development instead of adding text to explain features. Win-win!

Cons

Nothing I can say as a con about pendo. Its all good!
