Pros Semrush is the go to tool for any seo research, it has helped grow my clients website seo, and has been a partner tool for years. The data it delivers is a good reflection of where the website stands and for any small business or any size of business is a great tool to have. The tool has a good pricing (lower price is always better) but with one client it pretty much pays for itself Cons Semrush has a lot of strengths but one thing i think they can improve is on the pricing, maybe opening a lower starter price at half thr initial current base plan. Avoid at All Costs" August 26, 2026 1.0 Do not be fooled by their advertised "7-day money-back guarantee". Semrush I signed up to try out the platform, but after testing it for just one day, I found the interface unnecessarily bloated, confusing, and overly complicated to navigate for basic tasks. Since I was well within the initial 7-day trial window, I immediately reached out to cancel and request my refund based on the policy promoted at signup. Instead of honoring it, their customer service refused my request on the spot. They pulled out obscure, hidden policy exceptions that were never made transparent upfront and flat-out told me: "No, we cannot refund you." When I tried to explain the situation and hold them to their advertised guarantee, support completely rejected and dismissed my concerns. There was zero effort to help, zero accountability, and the customer service representative was completely indifferent. They gladly take your money, hide behind fine print when you try to leave, and provide the absolute worst support when you ask for fair treatment. If you are thinking about testing this tool, be warned: once they have your card details, they will do everything in their power to keep your money, guarantee or not. Save your budget and look elsewhere. Digital Marketing Consultant Telecommunications Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Refund Requested Within 30 Minutes, Immediate Cancellation, Yet No Refund" June 12, 2026 1.0 I signed up for Semrush's free trial to evaluate whether the platform would be suitable for my business. After testing the service, I determined that it was not the right fit for our requirements and budget. The trial automatically converted into a paid subscription, resulting in a USD 199 charge. Within approximately 30 minutes of the payment being processed, I contacted support, requested a refund, and immediately canceled the subscription. The account was not used for any meaningful activity after the charge other than logging in to cancel the subscription and submit the refund request. Despite explaining the situation, including the fact that we are a small business and that the service would not be used, Semrush refused to provide a refund. I submitted multiple requests, including a goodwill appeal, and the matter was escalated internally. After review, Semrush confirmed that they would not refund the payment and would not reopen the case. My disappointment is not that a refund policy exists. It is that there appears to be no flexibility whatsoever, even when a customer requests a refund almost immediately after being charged, cancels the service right away, and receives no meaningful benefit from the paid subscription. Potential customers should be extremely careful when signing up for a trial. Set multiple reminders and cancel well before the trial expires if you are unsure. Based on my experience, immediate cancellation and an immediate refund request were not sufficient for Semrush to make an exception. This experience has left me disappointed with both the company's customer service and its approach to handling genuine billing disputes. There were a million reports and even after unsubscribing because of the cost, I still pull up old reports for information to this day. The writing assistant was the main reason we signed up for the program and after a while, I did start to feel like I had learned all I could from that part; however, if we signed up again, it would be for the wealth of reporting and analytics we can get from the program. They are so useful. Pros So many tools and so many reports. There’s a wealth of information on Semrush, even if you have a free account. Cons The cost. It was quite expensive and for a tiny team, it was a bit cost prohibitive.
