The data it delivers is a good reflection of where the website stands and for any small business or any size of business is a great tool to have. The tool has a good pricing (lower price is always better) but with one client it pretty much pays for itself Cons Semrush has a lot of strengths but one thing i think they can improve is on the pricing, maybe opening a lower starter price at half thr initial current base plan. Avoid at All Costs" August 26, 2026 1.0 Do not be fooled by their advertised "7-day money-back guarantee". Semrush I signed up to try out the platform, but after testing it for just one day, I found the interface unnecessarily bloated, confusing, and overly complicated to navigate for basic tasks. Since I was well within the initial 7-day trial window, I immediately reached out to cancel and request my refund based on the policy promoted at signup. Instead of honoring it, their customer service refused my request on the spot. They pulled out obscure, hidden policy exceptions that were never made transparent upfront and flat-out told me: "No, we cannot refund you." When I tried to explain the situation and hold them to their advertised guarantee, support completely rejected and dismissed my concerns. There was zero effort to help, zero accountability, and the customer service representative was completely indifferent. They gladly take your money, hide behind fine print when you try to leave, and provide the absolute worst support when you ask for fair treatment. If you are thinking about testing this tool, be warned: once they have your card details, they will do everything in their power to keep your money, guarantee or not. Save your budget and look elsewhere. If you subscribe, keep written proof of your cancellation. Pros Keyword research and Site Audit are genuinely good. The competitor data is reliable and having everything in one platform saved us from paying for two separate tools. Cons Cancelling the subscription did not stop the billing. I cancelled and was charged 285.25 EUR anyway on the next renewal. Their own policy says a cancellation request is confirmed within 3 business days. No confirmation ever arrived, and support later confirmed that no cancellation request had been recorded at all. Refunds are explicitly excluded for month to month plans, so a cancellation that silently fails costs you a full month with no recourse. Their BBB profile shows a D- rating with dozens of unanswered complaints describing the same thing. I also appreciate that Semrush is expanding into GEO, giving SEM Managers like myself an early way to monitor brand visibility across AI-generated results. They give you the run around and require you to jump through hoops to cancel their free trial and then deny even when you've done what you're supposed to do. Their policies are highly illegal. I'm sharing because I don't want others to have to deal with the same things I did. Pros I used it for a short time during my trial period. There are other websites out there that have similar features. Cons Semrush is absolutely horrendous when it comes to customer service. I am not the only one (look at Google reviews). I cancelled during their free trial period with plenty of time to spare and they still charged me hundreds of dollars. They are refusing to return the money and are using shady practices to give me the run around. It is highly illegal due to the FTC's one-click to cancel law. Do not give them business. Cons The data lacks context and prioritization, and although there are thorough tutorials for how to address issues and execute changes, it must be done off-platform, not within the dashboard. No SEO tool has it all which is why we have had to combine multiple tools for different use cases. Pros We use both Ahref and Semrush at our agency. Semrush is mainly use for local rank tracking which is something Ahref is lacking. I also think the data is more accurate as Ahrefs is under reporting by alot. I have learned a lot from Semrush academy and have completed many certificates. Cons The content writing tool needs some serious refining.
