I can be in it all day. It's super helpful in terms of looking into information on competitors and in guiding keyword strategy. I also love being able to dig into referring traffic and there's a lot of information there. It gives a good view of where competitors are getting their traffic, how much they're paying for ads, etc. Cons I'm fairly new to this so please take this with a grain of salt. Pros I am a huge fan of using the keyword tools to brainstorm ideas and concepts. I appreciate the ad text history too although sometimes it is hard to know if an ad remained running because it was successful or the advertiser was lazy. We also have a separate reporting system, but find ourselves using some of 's reporting for things that our other product doesn't provide. Cons Not a fan of using their branding on the reporting in the way that they do with logos on a paid account. That's a nasty way to force an upgrade. I wouldn't mind branding in the footer or even a subhead, but they do this in a big way. To be fair, they're not alone, but it's a turnoff every time I see it. After discovering our expectations were met. We did find all those marketing channels to be explored, used and to be able to add value. All those spreadsheets and data really caught my add when displayed as charts diagrams. We now know where to spend our marketing budget, were our competition is spending theirs and what to do. Cons The lack of some keywords based searches for your target location: Austria, was a litle trubbling at first, but we did find those searches differently and could relate to those. It gives me the ability to benchmark my SEO position with a whole load of variations and options to help support my SEO strategy - and even on the free package - invaluable - I have used it to identify long string keywords and identify what my competitors are doing! There is always a portion of it that I end up using a lot of in a month or that helps me make smart decisions where I feel the software pays for itself. Pros It provides a bit of everything in its product suite. From tracking keywords, to checking backlinks and conducting site audits - for SEO. In Social Media & Content strategy, there are a slew of nifty tools from scheduling social media posts to checking brand mentions and suggesting content ideas. In PPC, you can check what your competitors are upto, do excellent keyword research and see Google Display campaigns. If you want detailed analysis on competitors there is an 'add-on' available for it. I particularly enjoy using their writing analysis add on that is available for both WordPress and Google Sheets. Cons Their administration could do with an overhaul. If i want to upgrade the account with some extra features, i can, but downgrade i need to reach out to support. I also feel their additional users fee at $140 is too much. Pricing can be an issue, but you really do get a ton of insights, advice, and quality information from the platform. I'd recommend it to any group in need of a professional SEO resource. Pros While there are other players in the market, is the most comprehensive SEO tool I've encountered. From keyword research to site audits and domain metrics, it seems to do it all. It can dive pretty deep into traffic analytics and show you valuable trends that can help with client ROI conversations. It's been useful when proving the success or need for content on websites. Cons The platform layout is a bit confusing. There is so much going on that it's easy to get lost in a new section and not know how to get back to the screen you want. The dashboard offers a lot to use, but needs better organization to streamline a user's experience. The reporting is stunning and very easy for a C suite to absorb. Cons The rank tracking has become a bit less accurate and the auditing features are not helpful and sometimes inaccurate. Everything sounds like it is important and an emergency, but most of the items are not. It is a hassle if the wrong person is alerted. Reason for choosing Semrush No real reason. Competitor analysis tools make it possible to understand exactly how well your brand is performing compared to other competitors. It also helps a lot with paid advertising efforts, since you can check out your competitors' Google Adwords ad copies and see what keywords they have bid on. Oh, and last but not least, keyword research. SEMRush is a great source for keyword ideas. Pros The tools and features that offers make you sometimes wonder how it's possible. The user interface is quite wonderful as well. It's very easy to navigate around and I didn't need to read any tutorials to understand where each feature is and what purpose they serve. Cons In short, it's expensive. In my experience, not every company is willing to pay $99/month just for an SEO tool. Hopefully, that's just my experience, since I think is very well worth it. But the main downside of me using the tool was convincing some of my past bosses to get the tool for our SEO efforts. Pros We used for a couple years and it really was a game changer for us. The features added while we were subscribed went way beyond search engine marketing. It really helped track everything regarding your online presence. The data they have for search engine marketing and keyword tracking is incredible. Cons The software took a little while to learn, the worst thing about the software is that it's expensive. The ability to have everything from keyword research to site crawl audits to backlink audits in one dashboard is great. Cons The paid search data isn't overly accurate. I do not recommend this tool for PPC, but it's at the top of my list for SEO insights. March 28, 2021 5.0 I started using after seeing other bloggers rave about it in a blogging Facebook group. I was initially using free tools to do my keyword research and SEO and I even started out with the free version of SEMrush. The paid version provided me with so much insight that it ended up saving me a lot of time researching because everything was laid out for me clear and simple. I even started doing competitor research with SEMrush which was something I didn't even know how to do until I saw how much insight SEMrush provided and all the tools they had. It made it pretty easy to find out what my competitors were ranking for. If you're a blogger or website owner I would highly recommend trying out the free version and if you like that then you'll love the paid version. Pros was one of the main tools I used for keyword research and SEO for my blog. It provides a ton of insights that I couldn't get from other free tools. I also used SEMRush for competitor research and was able to gather a lot of info on competitors in my niche like keywords and pages they were ranking for and where they were getting links. Cons is pretty expensive. There are a lot of other free tools that provide some of the features on SEMrush but obviously not nearly as much. So I will say that I think all the features are worth the price. You get a lot of value for what you pay for. I just wish it was a tad less expensive! Review Source CH Candance H. There are a lot of great features but not as straightforward for anyone new to sing a software like this.
