October 12, 2020 5.0 When I worked for an agency I had access to every tool under the sun. When I started at my new company as a marketing manager, I had to pick and choose those that would be highest impact for the company. My choice was SEMrush as it's the most well-rounded SEO software I've used. Pros Well-rounded software for SEO and content research. The ability to have everything from keyword research to site crawl audits to backlink audits in one dashboard is great. Cons The paid search data isn't overly accurate. I do not recommend this tool for PPC, but it's at the top of my list for SEO insights. Alternatives considered [Ahrefs](https://www.capterra.com/p/176340/Ahrefs/)[SpyFu](https://www.capterra.com/p/156579/SpyFu/) Reason for choosing Semrush Better bang for your buck than other softwares. March 28, 2021 5.0 I started using SEMrush after seeing other bloggers rave about it in a blogging Facebook group. I was initially using free tools to do my keyword research and SEO and I even started out with the free version of SEMrush. The paid version provided me with so much insight that it ended up saving me a lot of time researching because everything was laid out for me clear and simple. I even started doing competitor research with SEMrush which was something I didn't even know how to do until I saw how much insight SEMrush provided and all the tools they had. It made it pretty easy to find out what my competitors were ranking for. If you're a blogger or website owner I would highly recommend trying out the free version and if you like that then you'll love the paid version. Pros SEMRush was one of the main tools I used for keyword research and SEO for my blog. It provides a ton of insights that I couldn't get from other free tools. I also used SEMRush for competitor research and was able to gather a lot of info on competitors in my niche like keywords and pages they were ranking for and where they were getting links. Cons SEMrush is pretty expensive. There are a lot of other free tools that provide some of the features on SEMrush but obviously not nearly as much. So I will say that I think all the features are worth the price. You get a lot of value for what you pay for. I just wish it was a tad less expensive! Review Source CH Candance H. Very granular data for our clients, ourselves and competitor analysis. It's great to be able to set up each client as a project within SEMrush to be able to track overall their ads, organic and traffic. We us the competitor analytics when doing business development as well as when running audits for leads and current clients. Cons There is a learning curve when first starting to use SEMrush. There are a lot of great features but not as straightforward for anyone new to sing a software like this. It is a paid tool but it's totally worth it for the amount of data we get. It is a very powerful tool that I use for my clients. It has many features like keyword research, competitor research, SEO audits, rank tracking, social and PPC audit, backlink analysis, and much more. Pros Semrush is a great tool that helps us be on top of our competition online. I use this tool to spy on my competitors and find out what keywords they are ranking for, what keywords I should be ranking for that I'm not, and also find out what my competitor's backlinks look like. This is a must-have tool for anyone in competitive online niches and I have yet to find a better alternative. Cons Expensive price for the entry-level marketer but the features clearly justify it. I love the ability to set up different projects for clients, audit their site, check keywords, etc. Cons It is expensive especially when you start using it for different clients. Pros I like the Domain Overview feature most! It shows the Authority Score, Organic Search Volume, Paid Traffic Volume, Backlinks and keywords all together in a single dashboard. Though it's not always about the search volume because no tool can give accurate data, even google keyword planner. But the backlink analysis, organic keyword positions are almost accurate in real time analysis. Cons I think the site audit feature can be more effective. When I compare it to Ahrefs site audit feature, it seems more likely a child brain. So the development team can put more features to audit a website more precisely. I hope this will make the product more effective. Pros As a complete rookie when it comes to SEO, SEMrush has really helped guide my direction when it comes to keyword searching and copyrighting for our website. By following the issues and working on placement, and going to the SEMrush Academy, we've significantly improved our visibility and SERPs. Cons There's very little "wrong" with this software. Some of the functionality could use a little more explanation for us complete newbies in SEO, but most of that is easily researchable via the Academy or Google. But that's not all, SEMrush helps you to plan content, create it and improve it, it's amazing! Pros I find SEMrush indispensable to content and keyword research, but that's not all what this tool offers. Their SEO Content Template will help you to create articles with the specific needs of each keyword. Amazing! I love how SEMrush keeps improving and adding new features like social media analysis or social media management. It's an all in one tool that very marketer or agency should have. Cons SEMrush updates their tools and sometimes that means an interface change that can bother you, but you just hav to get use to it. I think that the social media tools still have a lot to improve. They are ok, but some functions like post topic taging (not utms) and analytics based in that topics would be great. Cons The thing I like least about SEMrush is the learning curve, which makes it a bit difficult to train coworkers on how to use the software. But there's a learning curve because SEMrush is a very powerful tool with lots of different features, so I'd recommend taking the time to learn the ins and outs of the different features. My conversion rates and page rankings have increased dramatically since I started using Semrush - I can't recommend it enough.
