Is it worth the money? I'm still trying to decide. I started on a free trial and fell in love with how easy it was to search a keyword, then apply filters to narrow it down to long-tail keywords. I also like how specific the results are. Rather than 1-10K, it'll say the exact rank. When I reached out to customer support to help me decide, they were very quick to respond. And even offered to take me through some tutorials. I wasn't sure I should get too invested because I couldn't justify the expense as a newbie blogger who isn't bringing in any income yet (and I don't plan to for several months, at least). But. Want to know why I'm still using it? I see results. Actual results! My blog has been live for 5 months. I've used SEMrush for about 3 months. And I have a few posts that are already ranking well in Google Search Results with the keywords I found in SEMrush. Should you use SEMrush? If you've got the money, definitely. But, due to the cost, I feel guilty referring newbies like myself to it. I wish there was an intro tier that had fewer bells and whistles because I know I don't use half of what I could be using, yet I'm paying for the whole program. So for now, I'm going to keep using it and see how it goes. Pros Very specific keyword research results, instead of large ranges of numbers, making it easy to decide if it's a keyword you want to write about. Amazing filter options to drill down to long-tail keywords. Ability to research competitors' ranking and keywords too. Cons The price is hard to swallow and justify for newbies just getting started who aren't making money blogging. There's SO much information, I feel overwhelmed and wonder if I'll ever use it all. Their product is great! Pros SEmrush is a good way for me to manage all 50+ clients that have SEO through our agency. Keyword volume, backlink analysis, and GAP analysis work great. Pros Overall the key features are easy to use with some practice. Why I really like is the ability to search companies just by domain and landing pages. It really helps with Keyword Research and competitor analysis which we include as part of our over SEO Audits and competitor analysis. Also once the wider platform integrations are done it's give better results e.g. GA and Search Console. I like the ability to use the API which we use with our custom reporting. Cons The integration process was difficult as it works on API Units and this made it difficult for us to position and understand the cost of our reporting. I don't like the user management elements in terms of whoever creates a new project is the owner, the Admin should become the default owner on any new project set up. Review Source Ravi A. Pros Keyword research is the best part of SEMrush. You will come to know for which keyword you can rank for easily as keyword difficulty is almost accurate and gives you a hint for which keyword you should go for. Cons There should be a side by side comparison of the web page, not just the entire site so that user can compare its page with top-ranked pages for a particular keyword. Pros This is the most comprehensive SEO tool on the market. Digital Marketing tools usually focus on a specific aspect of digital marketing like link building, content, technical. However, SEMrush is pretty good at just about everything. Most agencies will use several tools, but if I had to pick just one it would be SEMrush. Even though it's comprehensive, I think it's best use case is keyword research. I find it to be the most accurate and reliable. Cons It can't be perfect all the time. I still double check with Google's Keyword Planner to get my final search volume counts. I find it that SEMrush sometimes overlooks valuable long tail terms. Review Source WJ Wendell J. It has an advanced reporting feature that works in the form of drag and drop, where you will show reports to the brands you manage.It also has free online trainings and allows you to get an online certificate with a small exam after the trainings. This was the best experience :) Pros The features I like most about SEMrush software; Domain Name Analysis is specific to a domain. You type a domain name (for example, "google.com") into the search bar, and you get valuable information about it. Second, Keyword Analysis is keyword focused. You write a keyword about your brand (for example, "what is a deeplink") and you get details about that keyword. I love these two features. Cons Frankly, I have not encountered any situation that I do not like, I have used all its features very efficiently. The different tools of SEMrush help provided guidance and gave us insights for areas to focus on first that could potentially have the most impact. Pros SEMrush gives you competitive insights across a variety of channels - organic search, PPC, social - of where your competitors are performing the strongest. You can then use these insights and other tools within SEMrush to set as strategic direction and best focus your resources. Cons It takes a little time on the platform to best understand where to go, how to get the actionable insights you want. It's almost a drawback of having too much data. Pros I have been using this tool full time since 2013 and rely on it for in depth research as well as reporting for 100+ clients. It has an easy to read dashboard which makes for great reporting to clients. The features are always being updated and SEMrush is constantly asking for feedback to make their tools better. They are known leaders in the world of SEO and have some of the best people working over there. Follow them on Twitter for great insight and industry direction. Cons It's a paid tool, which is why it is so great, but some clients are willing to sacrifice updated data for cost savings. I will say the backlink features are sub-par and often have outdated info. Pros Semrush lets you easily manage SEO for several clients at the same time while also letting you track and compare competitors. With built-in alerts, you know when things are not going so smoothly. Get reports on backlinks, keywords, traffic, and so much more. That's why I trust Semrush as one of the first places I go when I need to check on my client's rankings. Cons I think my only criticism is how Semrush shows ranking accounting for the map pack. It can be misleading for clients when determining if they rank for a specific keyword and Semrush says ranking 2nd but it means the map pack with no details on where it is in the actual SERP. Technical SEO audits are crucial for our technical team to refine the build of sites, other tools analyze page-by-page, SEMrush creates insights which can be applied site-wide. Cons Some audit reports are slightly inconsistent over time, especially some of the technical aspects of the audits. Audit outcomes sometimes need to be checked against other tools or manually as some false-positives are generated. The sheer breadth of the service can also be daunting for new users, I would advice picking one of the audits and build confidence over time.
