Freelance Writer Online Media Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Most Comprehensive SEO Software" November 12, 2018 5.0 Pros Other pieces of software might do bits and pieces better than SEMRush, but no other software does as much as SEMRush. If you're looking for the all-in-one solution to your SEO, you'll want to grab this software. Whether it's for the extremely beneficial competitor analysis tool, auditing, or accessing a large and frequently updated keyword database, SEMRush will provide you with value. You'll have access to more data than you probably need (and that's always a good thing). Now, it's up to you to take this data and information and use it to beat your competitors. Cons The design and navigation isn't as good as other software. Personally, that's not a dealbreaker because it still has all of the tools and features in there, and I'm sure they can improve their design in the future. Arguably the biggest criticism though is the price point. If you're a small start-up or business owner and you're looking to kickstart your SEO, you'll find it hard to justify the cost at first. Cons As with all search engine optimization and marketing, there's a lot that is not known about the algorithms that organize the results. Many of the so-called professionals believe they have the answers and promise outstanding results. While it may seem like SEMrush will help improve your rankings, most of it is up to your own company's ability to implement the changes on the website and build the content that search engines (and people) are looking for. Pros I love the fact that you can sync with Google Analytics & GSC so that it gives you insight not only based on their own index of your site and all sites on the internet, but it's based on the reality of your traffic and search exposure. Cons The AI can be a little misleading as you will sometimes think you have tons of issues with your site when many of them will be smaller and not a priority, but if you learn to prioritize you will find SEMRush very useful. Cons It's a bit clunkier than competitors like Moz. It's highly customizable and I prefer it, but SEMrush pays a bit of a price by not having the prettiest UI/UX. Pros Love the ranking features and the ability to be able to see how I stack up amongst competitor websites. I use SEMrush regularly when it comes to keyword validation. It has made my SEO efforts that much easier using their website and detailed analysis. It is one of my favorite SEO tools and one I highly recommend. Cons It would be great if historical data was available at any user level. One of the main things that I like about this is how easy it is to use. Cons There really isn't anything that I don't like. They offer the best that money can buy. There's not a bad thing about it. The SEO Content Writer is also a fantastic tool which I would recommend to anyone! Pros I love the fact that there is so much to utilise under one roof! I've not had the chance to explore every area as of yet but the SEO tools have been incredibly useful, including the site audit and domain analyzer. Cons The GURU version can only crawl 20,000 pages at a time, it would be helpful if I had control over which pages it was crawling for every audit e.g. one audit look at the content side of the website, another to look at the product pages. It's helpful in showing some trends and giving you a starting point. Cons It feels limited in suggestions and gives the same suggestions over and over, especially if your blog is a very targeted topic. SEMrush has enabled us to stay on top of SEO issues to ensure they have the best chance for success. Pros Their site audit feature seems to catch EVERYTHING! And it gives you explanations of each item and why it's an issue. They even list possible ways to fix each issue. They also have great research tools such as traffic analysis and various keyword tools. Cons There is a LOT of clicking to get to various parts of the site and not all of the links go where you would expect. For example, if you are viewing an issue and it lists the URL of the page experiencing the issue, clicking the URL goes to a detailed view of that issue, NOT the URL itself. To get to the URL you would have to click a little icon next to the URL....it doesn't make a ton of sense. Review Source Juan Ignacio G. If they continue to improve the tool, it has a promising future. Pros Excellent keyword research, with accurate data and suggestions of related words that greatly extend the range of work. The dashboard of competitors is very good and allows you to see some that in principle were not taken into account. I like the interface, it's simple, easy to use and shows what it takes not to go crazy looking for information. Cons Unless you know how to use it in full, the price per month can be expensive for small agencies. The linkbuilding part lacks work, has potential but is currently not very usable. Longer term, it was helpful with keyword research and tracking, and for analyzing competitor AdWords campaigns. Pros SEMrush is a great multi-purpose keyword tool: it's helpful for discovering new keywords to target, identifying keyword phrases you may not have known your site was ranking for, and identifying competitors' target keywords. Even better, it identifies both paid and organic target keywords for competitors, and provides intelligence about how they are using AdWords. Cons Entry level pricing is high; it would be great if there were a lower starting price point for consultants and small company marketers who don't need 10,000 results per report. In addition, while SEMrush is very strong on keyword research and tracking, the newer areas of the software (like social listening and backlink analysis) aren't as mature yet. There are better tools for these functions. But if SEMrush can catch up, this could be a killer all-in-one SEO tool. Review Source SE Stephane E. It gives me very valuable information to spend my marketing budget wisely. The site audit is also extremely useful to improve SEO and have a better ranking. Customer service is amazing too. Our representative is always available to answer questions when we need him. Cons The only Con is that it takes a time to get to know and understand all its features and tools. Pros first and foremost its cheaper than ahrefs, which is the main argument for anyone using semrush over ahrefs I believe, while it's still not to be considered cheap it's definitely on the cheaper side in terms of SEO software. Cons the data is worse than in ahrefs in my experience, ahreffs seems to be much more accurate and delivers much better metrics in my opinion.
